Chapter 76
76 Dancing Around
After settling all the paperwork on signing the contract, Rong Yue had gone home directly, Qin Yichen on the other hand called Lu San who was already wondering why Rong Yue hadn’t come out of the store in over an hour.
“Where is she?” Qin Yichen asked sharply, cutting off Lu San who was still bothering with greetings.
“Master...” he stuttered, unable to complete the situation at hand, he hurriedly stood up from the vintage point he had sat and went into the store.
“She entered this store about four hours ago, she hasn’t come out yet.” he finally managed to say as he realised saying nothing at all was making his master’s aura become a lot more murderous.
“And? What type of store is it?”
“I’m going in there now, to be sure she didn’t get caught up in shopping.” Lu San answered as he looked inside the store.
“It’s a boutique with unisex items.” he added, reading the labels on their branding that was by the counter.
“Check the windows, forget about the surveillance, I’m sure it has been tampered with and check the clothes they had all sold recently from the male section.” Qin Yichen ordered and then hung up. Even without waiting for Lu San, he could already guess what the answer was and he was sure that she didn’t want him to find out.
However, he had every plan to test her and see if she would confess. Although he had those thoughts, a part of him was excited at discovering that the little girl was the one that had designed such a program.
.....
His little girl was the most amazing. Since he had watched her painting back when she had newly moved in. Back then he had felt like her fingers were one of the best he had ever seen and didn’t forget how they looked.
“Branch at the grocery market close to the house.” he told his driver before leaning his head back to take a little nap.
Rong Yue on the other hand skidded outside the house happily, after changing, she had come home directly. For someone like her that prided in her disguise skills, she would never have imagined that a certain man that paid attention to even what his woman’s fingers were like would have discovered her already.
More importantly, she had sold partial rights to the first program for close to a 100 million yuan while she also had the one coming from Qin Yichen on the way, in total, today had turned out productive and she had gotten an invite to the welcoming of the new members into the Anxi association that was going to happen next month.
“Yue’er, you look happy.” her mother pointed out as soon as she entered and Rong Yue nodded and ran into her mother’s embrace. “Something really good happened to your daughter today.” she said and although she wished she could say more, she was afraid that her mother would have a slip of tongue when the big bad wolf was here.
“That’s good, I heard from the news that your exams are in a week. You didn’t mention so that I can make enough herbal medicines to help you with studying.” her mother accused, as she shot Rong Yue an offended glare.
“I told you, you must have been caught up in that series when I did.” Rong Yue retorted with a snigger. Since Rong Xia could not prove that it had not really happened, she shrugged and allowed the matter to pass.
“I’ll go to the market tomorrow to get herbs to help you make soups that would help with studying.” she said and Rong Yue nodded.
“Mother, the medicines and ointments you make, how do you know the accurate measurement to use with each ingredient?”
“You know by understanding the nature of the herb, the planting source and lastly, the ailment you are trying to cure. The ailment is the one that makes its demand most of the time. While you as the maker just focus on making sure that the herb that answers to that call doesn’t affect anything else.”
“A lot of times, modern people say that it’s because when you take herbs in their natural state, you take in every part of it including some toxin, but in truth, a properly made medicine, would have other herbs that can cancel out the toxins in that main ingredient while also treating the organ where the ailment might have affected.” she explained.
Rong Yue looked at her mother with eyes full of surprise. She had known that her mother was getting better and better. However, this was totally different from how she was, it had felt as though the moment they brought up the discussion of herbs, her mother had transformed to this knowledgeable person.
“Is there some matter?” Rong Xia asked with slight worry and her voice brought Rong Yue out of her thoughts.
“Not really, I was thinking that if you had the chance to package your herbs, teas and ointments, it would help a lot of people to get better health at maybe a cheaper cost and also, let you have something that’s entertaining your mind.”
As soon as Rong Xia heard her words, her eyes lit up as tears welled up in her eyes. “A..are you serious?” she asked with uncertainty and then scooted over until she was able to hold her daughters hands.
“Do we have enough money left for the getting of herbs, that’s the major thing. It’s even better if I get the seeds and grow them myself.” she said eagerly and Rong Yue nodded as her own shoulders also dropped in relief. She hadn’t been sure that it was something her mother would enjoy doing on a large scale.
“It’s fine, I’ll handle all those for now, I would also talk to some people that I think you can work with also.” she said.
After then, the both of them went into a full blown discussion about the kind of products that she needed to put out and how they would go about the planting.
For Rong Yue, who had not seen her mother look this genuinely happy for a while, she had long forgotten that she had come back in with the thought of taking a warm shower and lunch. And it was only when the doorbell rang that the both of them realised how long she had been talking for.
Rong Yue stood up to open the door after seeing it was Qin Yichen.
“You are just getting back from school?” Qin Yichen asked, surprised to see that she was still in her uniform.
“I was taking your advice and telling mom about the business and got carried away.” Rong Yue replied but her entire focus was on the box of food that Qin Yichen was carrying. The fragrance of the food had quickly filled the whole room. She was already hungry and felt her stomach rumbling.
“I have something to celebrate so I did a small feast for dinner.” he explained as he placed the box on the dining table. “Go and clean up, I’ll set up the table with your mom.”
Rong Yue nodded and went inside while Qin Yichen went back to his penthouse to carry the remaining box.
By the time Rong Yue came out, all cleaned up and changed, the table was already set up.
“What exactly happened that made you this happy to cook?” Rong Yue asked curiously as she started to dish her meal.
Before, she would only focus on eating while her mother and Qin Yichen had small talks while they ate. Later on, she had started to join them making them seem like a family sometimes.
“My company discovered some genius developer girl.” Qin Yichen said as he cast a side glance at her fingers that were holding on to the cover of some dish bowl. Because she had already assumed that Qin Yichen could not have known she was the one, Rong Yue looked up confused as she heard him say a girl.
Had there been something wrong with her disguise?
“A girl?” she asked him, to be sure she heard right. Qin Yichen on the other hand was only playing with the emotions of his little girl and her reaction was exactly what he had expected.
“A boy rather, he seemed rather feminine though.”
Rong Yue looked at him with suspicion as she suddenly felt like she couldn’t catch up with this man in front of her as she felt as though there was something she was missing out on from this conversation.
“I was surprised, after all, although everyone is becoming more open about women and scaling their careers, things like technology are still being dominated by men.” she explained and Qin Yichen nodded in agreement.
“He was able to develop a firewall greater than that of my company’s current which would of course increase our stock prices again and also make more companies want to work with us.” he explained and Rong Yue nodded in understanding the whole time.
Like that, they spent the whole evening dancing around business talks and technology while Rong Xia deliberately finished her meal and left the both of them at the table.
