Chapter 118
118 The Competition
Rong Yue had stayed up for as late till morning to get some last revision done and only got to sleep around 4am while Qin Yichen had gotten up some hours after then and made her breakfast.
Since the exam was starting by 8am, she finally came down by 7am lazily and still a little groggy despite taking a warm shower. However, her brows scrunched together when she saw a head with mass of purple hair backing hair.
Upon hearing her steps, Mo Fan turned around excitedly.
“I said it! I saw little Junior sister come in yesterday in big boss hands how can he say you aren’t here today,” he said excitedly and then jumped to hug Rong Yue.
Alarmed, Rong Yue turned to the other side and allowed the young master to fall flat on his face.
Qin Yichen came out of the kitchen to meet this scene and was stunned. Why was Mo Fan lying on his face on the floor?
“Big boss,” Mo Fan stood up in a rush as he tried to hide his grievances after all, even if he had fallen down, his knowledge about Qin Yichen was enough to know that he was only going to be in more trouble if he spoke up.
As for Rong Yue, she didn’t even care about him one bit and had her eyes fixed on the big tray of food that he was carrying.
“Yue’er,” Qin Yichen said with a tone doting. Rong Yue frowned a little as his raspy and seductive voice entered her ears and then shot him a glare.
.....
Was he trying to seduce her this early!
“I made breakfast, your exam would last about three hours, you have to eat something before leaving,” Qin Yichen walked towards her after dropping the plate and led her to the table, stunning Mo Fan that was looking at them like he had seen a ghost.
Since when was this big boss this nice and doting?
Just yesterday, everyone had told him that they got a bonus increase and the big boss left work early, giving them a chance to close early.
He had waited outside his house to ask Qin Yichen if he was okay after hearing the news. Who would have thought that he would come across a scene like that yesterday.
Not only that, he had rushed here this early morning to confirm that his eyes hadn’t seen nonsense and it was exactly like he had seen!
Was the world coming to an end?
Or was it really that even the big boss couldn’t escape the clutches of beauty? He looked at Rong Yue’s exquisite face one more time and sighed in his heart.
One had to give credit to this little sister’s beauty, she was not yet even at her peak stage and already beat all the famed beauties of the capital that he knew.
Perhaps, all the other beauties were not fatal enough for his master previously. And this little sister was the one that had finally dealt the killing blow.
The more he looked at them, the more certain he was that his thoughts were right.
While his thoughts were running wild, Qin Yichen patiently helped his little girl load her plate with proteins and enough carbohydrates.
After that he left the table to prepare the snacks she would eat on her way to the exam and on her way back.
Even some parents didn’t do that much for their children.
Mo Fan rushed to Rong Yue as soon as the big boss left the living room and spoke in a fawning tone, “Little sister, do you remember me? I’m that brother that...”
“I don’t.” Rong Yue didn’t even give him a chance to finish.
Of course she remembered him but with her having an exam, she didn’t want any mindless chatter from him and thus shut him up early.
Unfortunately Mo Fan was not an expert in reading her moods like Qin Yichen and pressed further.
Although stumped for words that after meeting on three occasions she didn’t remember him, he continued again, “Little sister, I was there when you did that painting... the one with,”
Before he could finish his words, Qin Yichen stepped into the living room and pulled him back with his collar.
“She has a competition today, why are you disturbing her?” He asked, his face stern as dissatisfaction at Mo Fan’s behavior filled him up.
“C..competition?” Mo Fan stuttered a little as he ran quite a distance away from the both of them. His mind however didn’t stop working as he tried to remember if there was any painting competition recently.
Unfortunately, nothing came up in his mind, leaving him with no choice but to take his phone and try to search.
“Hmmm, let’s go, I’ll drive you over there,” Qin Yichen totally paid him no attention as he held Rong Yue’s hand intending to lead her outside.
Rong Yue pulled her hand away as she shot him a warning glare. “It’s just an exam, I can walk by myself,” she said and then checked her bag to see if there was anything she had forgotten anything.
Qin Yichen wasn’t offended, after all, this morning alone, she hadn’t pushed him away. He was also not expecting her to immediately accept him so he said nothing and allowed her to walk ahead.
But even if the two involved were not affected, it didn’t mean that a bystander like Mo Fan was going to take it the same way!
His eyes opened wide with shock as he looked at how the little sister had rejected his big boss with a glare.
Heavens! What did he just see?
He rubbed his eyes a little and looked at their departing figure.
Without wasting anytime, he rushed out to get his car, determined to get to where the competition was being held.
It would be good to see this little sister slap people’s faces in the capital.
????????????
The distance from the First Capital University where the exam was being held to Qin Yichen’s place was about twenty minutes. By the time she arrived at the capital, she was just right on time.
Neither of them said any words and Qin Yichen only helped her open the door and rubbed her head a little.
Despite the different levels of qualifications, there was still about two hundred students here, with their parents and families making the place a little crowded.
Rong Yue called Wu Hao and teacher Lu and finally got their location.
She walked quickly amidst the slightly densed crowd to the front of entrance.
“Quick! Go inside, it’s already time to start getting arranged,” teacher Lu said, pushing both of them forward.
Without words, the both of them hurried inside the hall.
Since they were from the same school and province, they were shared into separate halls and the two of them had to go their separate ways after getting their hall number.
She was the last person to enter her hall and settled down hurriedly.
This stage of the exam was separated into three stages. One was the multiple choice questions where they only had to select answers, the second was the theory and the third section was the oral difficulty questions.
Since the winners were going to represent the country, it was also important for the country to make sure only the best of them was selected.
This third part was a way of knowing they were capable of competing with the others.
After her first exam, she had already understood that finishing too early wasn’t exactly good do Rong Yue ready the questions slowly and also shaded the answers very slowly, yet, even with that, by the time she was done with her objective parts for the more than 150 questions, she was still half an hour than the others.
For the next twenty minutes, she acted like she was still busy with her questions and only submitted when it was ten minutes to the deadline time.
She started her theory immediately. This time, she was already bored from the work and tired and didn’t bother to cut time. She carefully answered the questions and submitted an hour ahead.
“This student... giving up this early on things is not a good behavior, you might remember how to solve other questions later,” the invigilator closest to her advised as she requested to submit.
“I understand sir, I’m done,” she said politely. Since she could sense that the man was only genuinely concerned about her, she didn’t want to cross him and just replied politely.
The man nodded, took her papers and directed her to where the last exam phase was.
Like the invigilator, everyone also felt that the girl must have found the questions too difficult and gave up along the line.
The ones that saw Rong Yue’s appearance were even more convinced of this thought and went back to their struggles feeling they were at least better than someone.
As for the girl they felt they were better than, she was already in the third room and greeted the five people that were seated in a straight row.
“Student Rong Yue from City A high school,” she introduced politely.
Despite being surprised that someone had come in an hour and some minutes earlier than the time their section was scheduled to start, they still responded to her like they were meant to.
“This section is quite different, you might want to take some minutes before you start because you can’t stop for even one second or minute once you do,” one of the masters seated offered.
Rong Yue nodded in understanding, “I’ll take it now ma’am,”
