Chapter 339: Dazzling Strike
“Teleport…”
Not only GALLADE but also Kota, Isaac, and Julian recognized this move.
Faced with GALLADE’s Swords Dance, there was no hesitation — Gallade teleported instantly, using Slash to attack from high up in the sky!
However, Terrance’s eyes lit up at Gallade’s Teleport.
He had never seen such an astonishing Teleport before. In battle, the feeling was much more direct. It was clean, efficient, and completely without hesitation. There was no way to predict Gallade’s next move; the Teleport was like there was no prelude, as if it required no preparation at all. By the time you realized that Gallade used Teleport, its blade-like arm had already swung down, delivering a single, deadly strike.
“This is the fourth time I’ve seen Gallade use Teleport in battle,” Julian muttered. “Each time, it surprises me again. During usual training, it’s hard to tell, but in a real battle, Gallade’s Teleport doesn’t even need to lock onto a target — it seems like it’s become second nature.”
Fast to the extreme.
No other Pokémon, or any move for that matter, could reach the speed of this Teleport.
This was beyond the conventional definition of speed.
The time typically wasted in teleportation involves gathering energy, locking onto a target, and reacting and scanning the surroundings afterward. However, Gallade seemed to have bypassed all of this. Its Teleport was perfect, reaching the level of perfection Terrance envisioned.
Meanwhile, that lightning-fast Slash left Terrance speechless. What a Slash it was! It began gathering power before Teleport, building strength through the teleportation, and unleashed full force at the end. The entire move flowed seamlessly, taking full advantage of Gallade’s strengths, culminating in a dazzling strike.
GALLADE, sensing the immense threat, made a judgment on its own, which was understandable.
“Canceling Swords Dance without a command from its Trainer… let’s overlook that, given that it wasn’t raised directly by Kota.”
“However, Kota couldn’t react to Gallade’s attack. Even though it’s a flaw…..”
Terrance scratched his cheek with his index finger, realizing he might be asking too much. Even GALLADE, with its extremely remarkable perception, nearly lost. It was understandable that an ordinary human might struggle to react in this situation.
Indeed, Kota’s hands were trembling. The pressure from that Slash was overwhelming, causing his mind to stop working, unable to understand anything or make a judgment!
“The first round of attacks is over, and he still hasn’t made a decision?” Terrance glanced at Kota, whose expression was tense, and thought: “In situations like this, where it isn’t possible to react, it’s best to plan early. With a proactive mindset, he should look for a way to block Teleport or devise a tactic to counter this attack method.”
As a rookie Trainer, Kota’s limited battle experience hindered his ability to make the right call.
Although this was a common issue among rookie Trainers, Terrance managed to identify a key point from it, intending to include it in Kota’s entrance evaluation report.
It was too cruel.
Isaac and Julian looked at GALLADE, who was awaiting Kota’s command, and couldn’t help feeling sympathy for it. It had to face this freakish opponent with an inexperienced rookie Trainer in command; GALLADE must be under tremendous pressure at the moment.
“Gallade has used Teleport twice now. Although it hasn’t moved far each time, judging by Gallade’s expression, it seems this only took a fraction of its stamina.”
Though it might sound exaggerated, Terrance genuinely couldn’t see any sign of tiredness on Gallade.
Calm, composed, collected…
“GALLADE, use Double Team!”
Kota finally issued a command, watching the opposing Gallade warily.
On the other hand, Terrance’s options were much more limited. While his opponent had a variety of tactics, Terrance’s choices were restricted by Gallade’s situation .
Gallade’s previous attack was undoubtedly powerful, but it was also clear that it could only use two moves: Teleport and Slash.
A simple attack pattern like this could easily be countered.
For example, in this situation, with multiple GALLADES appearing at once, even a Teleport attack required more careful consideration.
However, Terrance wasn’t worried. Though he hadn’t seen Gallade in over a year, his insight and experience were far beyond what an untested rookie Trainer like Kota could compare to. From just one attack, Terrance had already gauged about sixty or seventy percent of Gallade’s current situation. He might not know it inside out, but it was more than enough to handle the level of challenge in front of him.
“Close Combat!”
In an instant, multiple GALLADES rushed forward at high speed.
“Gallade.”
At Terrance’s command, facing several opponents, Gallade calmly stood in place with a steady gaze.
Like a master of Iaido, it was waiting for the perfect moment to deliver a lethal strike.
The situation fell into a standoff, the atmosphere terrifyingly tense and exceedingly quiet. In such circumstances, the sound of footsteps clearly reached everyone’s ears.
“There…”
Terrance smirked, glancing up at the sky. The sunlight was bright, and regardless of where the opposing Gallade launched its attack from, inconsistencies in the footsteps or shadows would betray the real one’s position. In an intense battle, for a Gallade with extraordinary perception, even a small slip like this could be an advantage.
By choosing to attack with Double Team, Kota had already sealed the outcome.
“Seems you forgot about Gallade’s extraordinary perception.”
Bang!!
Gallade vanished and reappeared, its blade gleaming as it struck from behind, leaving no opportunity for its opponent to exploit. The speed was so fast that the eyes couldn’t keep up, delivering an extraordinarily dazzling strike!
The silent and reserved warrior Gallade wasn’t devoid of emotions, rather its emotions had undergone a rich journey, even tumultuous at times, reaching their peak of brilliance before returning to a state of calm. This is the emotional expansion and contraction after catharsis. However, as it was about to attack using its full-strength, these emotions erupted out, coalescing into a powerful momentum as it swung a dazzling sword in a combination of Teleport and Slash!
Until… a cry of defeat echoed out and GALLADE was sent flying, its Double Team disappearing.
The battle was over.
“I lost…” Kota looked at his fallen Gallade, speechless. This was his father’s Pokémon, and yet it lost so easily…
Only two rounds.
“Is it over?” Issac announced the result and said to the dejected Kota: “It wasn’t GALLADE that lost, but you. The level of training both Gallades went through isn’t so drastically different; it was your poor commands that led to the quick end of the battle. But don’t be disheartened; for a rookie Trainer, you’ve done well. Just focus on studying diligently at the academy, and you’ll soon be able to stand on your own as a Trainer.”
Hearing Teacher Isaac’s reassurance, Kota felt a bit better. After all, his opponent was none other than Hoenn’s Top Coordinator. Given the difference in combat experience, his loss was understandable.
“Terrance, thank you for the battle. One day, I’ll defeat Gallade myself with my Meditite!”
“Alright, I look forward to that day,” Terrance replied.
