Chapter 257: Extended Dragon Dance

Chapter 257: Extended Dragon Dance

Magmar was hit by Stun Spore and soon, it was finding it increasingly difficult to move. Reluctantly, Fang had no choice but to recall Magmar. However, after doing so, he was stunned by the state of the arena. Beautifly had used Stun Spore so many times that, combined with its control over the arena’s air currents and the slowly rising air currents, the spores were practically everywhere—on the ground and in the air. It could be said that the entire arena was filled with Stun Spore. In such an environment, regardless of which Pokémon he sent out, if he didn’t clear the Stun Spore from the arena thoroughly, he would be in a very disadvantageous situation.

“Wait a minute, why isn’t Beautifly affected?” Fang suddenly realized. Given that the arena was entirely covered in Stun Spore, even if Beautifly had released them, it shouldn’t have been immune. But just then, Terrance recalled Beautifly.

“Come back, Beautifly. Altaria, it’s your turn.”

Altaria replaced Beautifly and flew into the arena filled with Stun Spores, leaving Fang hesitant. Time ticked by.

“Could I be overthinking? It’s been so long; the Stun Spore’s effect must have diminished by now.” With no time to ponder further, Fang could only quickly send out his next Pokémon, Cloyster.

As soon as Cloyster took its place in the arena, it sensed the surrounding atmosphere and its expression couldn’t help but change. However, it managed to endure this dust.

“There’s no problem—” Seeing that Cloyster could still maintain its consciousness, Fang felt relieved. “Cloyster, Ice Beam!”

Whoosh——

A cold blue beam shot out, sweeping toward Altaria. Fang didn’t believe Altaria could be as agile as Beautifly.

But as Altaria dodged the Ice Beam, it began to dance wildly in the air, making Fang gasp in shock. “Oh no!”

“Dragon Dance!”

As Terrance finished speaking, Altaria had already started dancing, gracefully and mysteriously moving through the air. The Ice Beam followed closely, but slowly, Fang’s expression turned ugly.

“It seems Terrance is well-prepared.”

“What do you mean?”

The onlookers began to whisper, until one finally stepped forward to explain.

“Beautifly spread Stun Spore all over the arena, but when it was battling Magmar, the arena had started to cool down, the warm currents dissipated, and the Stun Spore began to settle on the ground.”

“Dragon Dance not only boosts Altaria’s stats, but it also stirs the surrounding air currents, sweeping the Stun Spore dust back into the air. Look, the air is starting to mix with green dust again.”

Seeing this, everyone nodded. As Cloyster and Altaria chased each other back and forth, the dust on the arena became more visible, being stirred up wildly by the air currents.

“Ssshh—”

Cloyster wobbled as it involuntarily inhaled more Stun Spore due to the floating dust. This made Fang scratch his head in frustration and say anxiously, “Use Ice Beam to freeze the ground and seal the spores.”

Cloyster forced itself to act despite the increasingly prickling sensation. However, it was clear that it was too late. As Altaria used Dragon Dance to stir up the air currents, the Stun Spores on the arena were swept up again, spreading throughout the arena.

“It’s over.”

Terrance watched Altaria finish a round of Dragon Dance and smiled slightly. Then he said, “Continue.”

Weng~~

Ignoring Cloyster, Altaria began its second Dragon Dance. The Stun Spore dust moved even faster with the swirling air currents.

“Why—?” Fang looked at Cloyster’s worsening condition and couldn’t understand why Altaria was completely fine. Beautifly was like this too, and Altaria as well. None of them were affected by Stun Spore. Meanwhile, his own Pokémon were passively absorbing more and more spores, their condition continuously deteriorating and their movements becoming increasingly uncoordinated.

“This isn’t good, stop it quickly!” Fang was alarmed as Altaria began its second Dragon Dance, moving faster and faster. He knew he couldn’t afford to let Altaria continue.

However, with Cloyster’s movements becoming increasingly uncoordinated, both the speed of its attacks and the power of its moves significantly declined. It was impossible for it to keep up with Altaria’s Dragon Dance-enhanced state. Fang’s hand hovered over the remaining Poké Ball at his waist, but he slowly lowered it back.

Stun Spores were still floating through the air above the arena. Although it was slowly starting to dissipate, if he released a third Pokémon now, it would still be affected by it. Then, combined with Magmar having absorbed the most spores, although none of his Pokémon have lost their fighting ability, they were all in a Paralysis state. Fang realized he had simply given Altaria an excellent opportunity to strengthen itself!”

“Cloyster, snap out of it, block it!!” Fang shouted, sweat pouring down his face, desperately hoping the Stun Spore would dissipate faster.

But as the battle continued, most of the onlookers began to sense that something was off. Altaria had already completed two rounds of Dragon Dance, yet Terrance showed no sign of attacking.

As Cloyster inhaled more Stun Spore, its reactions became increasingly sluggish, and it could barely execute its moves properly. Meanwhile, Altaria’s stats only improved with each successive Dragon Dance.

“Is this Altaria not afraid of Stun Spore?!”

Fang was on the verge of losing his mind, watching Altaria weave effortlessly through the dust.

Why were only his Pokémon affected by Stun Spore, while Terrance’s were completely fine?

This was not just puzzling Fang; the surrounding spectators were also discussing it. Everyone saw Altaria moving through the spores but appearing unaffected, leaving everyone bewildered.

“Stun Spore has dissipated.”

Finally, as Altaria began its third Dragon Dance, the Stun Spore was gradually swept out of the arena by the air currents, becoming so diluted that its effect was now negligible. Only at this point did Fang dare to recall Cloyster, who was almost unable to hold on, allowing it to rest and send out his third energetic Houndoom.

“This is my ace…” Fang muttered reluctantly.

Houndoom entered the arena. Finally, he would no longer have to endure the interference of Stun Spore, but Fang’s heart sank as he faced an Altaria that had been boosted by three Dragon Dance.

Fang had seen Altaria’s strength before and couldn’t even imagine what it had become after being powered up three times.

“Houndoom, use Flamethrower to test it out.”

Fang swallowed nervously, realizing that he was now in an extremely disadvantageous position. At this point, he could only hope that Houndoom could pull off a surprise for him.

“Rooaarrr—”

A thick column of fire, charged with immense energy, erupted out with a furious wave of flames, roaring as it surged forward, as if it wanted to devour the sky itself, fiercely declaring its power toward Altaria. But in the sky, Altaria’s front claws began to gather a deep blue and purple energy, forming a claw-shaped wave. With a gentle flick, boom, boom, boom, boom!

The thick Flamethrower, as if colliding with something formidable, was instantly dispersed, turning into sparks that vanished into the air.
