Chapter 110: Commendation, unknown reward

Chapter 110: Commendation, unknown reward

Terrance had heard about Teacher Julian being quite strict with the students at the academy, which seems to be related to his own experiences. Terrance didn’t know the specific details, but it appeared that Julian didn’t approve of most of the Gym battles and League Conferences that trainers participate in these days.

Only the Trainers who can potentially reach the level of an Elite Four Champion in the future can earn the recognition and admiration of a teacher with an International Police background like him.

Hearing this, Terrance couldn’t help but observe a moment of silence for Teacher Julian’s past students. It was truly unfortunate that the bar was set so high at the level of Sinnoh Champion. It must have been challenging for them.

Next, Mr. Looker started taking statements of Cynthia and Terrance.

What surprised Terrance was that if he had genuinely been inadvertently involved in this incident, then Cynthia had apparently single-handedly destroyed one of their small branches and then tracked them all the way here.

The difference between “accidentally getting involved in trouble” and “actively seeking trouble” made Terrance understand why Cynthia had already ascended to the position of an Elite Four while other Trainers of the same age were still striving for the League Conference.

“What a cheat,” Terrance murmured to himself, wondering when he could reach such heights.

“Thank you both for your assistance. If all goes well, you should receive the commendation and rewards you deserve for your actions and help after this,” Mr. Looker smiled at the end.

Considering their age, the commendation might be kept secret, but League definitely wouldn’t be stingy with the rewards as they want to befriend such promising young Trainers.

Especially when they played a crucial role in capturing the poacher gang.

“Mr. Looker, I have a question,” Terrance knew it might be rude, but he asked his question anyway. “If I’m not mistaken, was their target Water Source Stone in North Lake?”

“Not only that, but they also targeted the Fire Source Stone and Thunder Source Stone just recently. The police are still unclear about their motives. To hide their mission to North Lake, they even dispersed most of their members to disrupt the police’s movements.”

“Have the poachers been successfully apprehended?” Cynthia asked.

Looker hesitated for a moment and then decided not to hide the truth from the two young Trainers, “Unfortunately, the members of the poacher gang who were dispersed, along with a significant portion of their forces, changed their plans at the last minute. Under the guidance of a poacher with the code name ‘J,’ they betrayed Grey Feather and took away most of the technical data.”

“In addition, based on what we know, a key criminal escaped during this operation,” Looker continued, looking a bit troubled. “He is an internationally notorious criminal. Although he hasn’t committed any heinous crimes, his style of operation has given many international forces headaches.”

“Who is this person?” Not only Cynthia, even Terrance was curious.

“These matters are a bit too distant for you, but I can tell you his international arrest codename: 1412.”

Cynthia might have some understanding of these unfamiliar codenames, but Terrance was clueless. However, after this incident, these things wouldn’t concern him anymore, and pursuing a peaceful school life was what he should focus on next.

He lazily stretched, thinking about the numerous troubles he had encountered in less than a year of joining the school. It was quite troublesome; perhaps studying was a more peaceful choice.

…………….

The training journey came to an end, and naturally, Terrance returned to Crown Academy with Teacher Julian. Gyarados and the Water Source Stone were returned to North Lake, and the other six students also safely returned. It was sheer luck within misfortune that there were no significant losses.

Crown Academy had a total of around a hundred teachers and students. In reality, the number of students enrolling in Crown Academy had been dwindling over the years, but overall, the presence of the new students was still quite strong.

Particularly, Terrance, a new student of the Breeder Class, had knocked out fellow students during the training journey and had single-handedly taken on poachers. It was unclear who had leaked this information from among the students, but suddenly, Terrance became a public figure within the academy. This Breeder Class freshman, who had previously kept a low profile, had all of his deeds brought to light at once.

In his first-ever Hearthome City Pokémon Contest that he participated in, he claimed victory with an absolute display of strength.

Within less than a year of joining the academy, he managed to reach the third level of the Tower of Confusion and hold on for three minutes!

At such an astonishing young age, he had already earned the qualification of a Junior Breeder, reaching a level equal to that of a graduate before even joining the academy!

Terrance became a hot topic at Crown Academy.

“Who the hell did it…” On the other side, Terrance was having a headache. The six students, Jinbe, Misanji, Tobias, Orange, Yuko, and Seiji, were all grateful to Terrance for retrieving their Pokemon, but they were also hurt by his sudden attack that left them unconscious. Such a lack of trust was a major blow to them.

They could understand it, but they couldn’t accept it; this was the sentiment shared by the six students.

While Terrance didn’t mind their thoughts, given the subsequent developments and everyone’s safe return, it was the best possible outcome. If he had to make the choice again, he would do the same.

What surprised Terrance the most, however, was that the academy organized a commendation ceremony for this incident.

This news was rather astonishing. While the poacher incident was serious, it shouldn’t have escalated to this level. Moreover, Terrence himself believed that if it weren’t for the help of others, his own contributions would have hardly been noteworthy.

Nevertheless, the commendation ceremony proceeded as scheduled. It not only honored Terrance but also acknowledged Teacher Julian, who had played a crucial role in destruction at the end. While there were no casualties in this incident, Terrance and Teacher Julian’s actions served as great motivation for the students.

This commendation primarily focused on Terrance and Teacher Julian, with the police force receiving only brief mention. As for Cynthia, whom Terrance believed had been a significant help, her contribution was barely acknowledged.

Terrance understood that the academy couldn’t be unaware of the details. However, this approach was taken to boost morale. Several months ago, Cynthia had rocked Crown Academy’s reputation even more severely than this current incident. To reignite the enthusiasm of the students, they needed some newsworthy topic to lift their spirits.

Not many people were familiar with Terrance, and those present were mostly older than him. Commending Terrance’s progress, hard work, and dedication in front of all the students made everyone wear an odd expression. Most of the students silently vowed to make their own mark in the upcoming promotion exam.
