Chapter 89
A middle aged, spiky green haired man could be seen with a cigar on his mouth could be seen crouched down beside a corpse belonging to one of the last remaining members of his squad.
This man's name was Roan. He was the leader of squadron 0.
A bloodbath as far as the eye could see. Corpses ranging from teenagers in military uniforms to corpses belonging to the horned ones and zombies laid all around.
Amidst this bloodbath, whilst covered in injuries, he was the last one standing.
He closed the eyes of the corpse before looking up at the sky.
Smoke could be seen coming out of the vehicles all around which had been destroyed in the crossfire and zombies could be seen approaching the scene.
Some staggered, their rotten skin slowing them down.
Others ran, growling as they approached their pray.
Meanwhile, he stood there, looking up in disbelief.
A large blue cube had manifested itself above one of the fleets. The clouds could be seen gathering around it as rain began to fall.
Just from seeing the size of it, he couldn't help but wonder...
'Is there even a point to all this fighting...? Is the death of all these kids really going to change anything?'
His entire squad, squadron 0 and the other two squads which summed up to a total of fifty ability users had all been wiped out.
Together they were only able to take out fifteen of enemy.
Only fifteen.
[Squadron 0, do you copy?]
The cigar in his mouth almost slipped out as his eyes widened.
His mind completely drifted away from replying as it was busy registering the event which was currently unfolding.
Once again, another wave of horned ones could be seen falling from fleets in the sky.
Their appearances were all unique, ranging from all types of frames and builds.
The top half of the horns on their heads was a colour he had yet to see, one which hadn't been reported to government yet.
But none of that mattered at the moment, what mattered was that one of them was heading right towards him!
*Crash!*
He took a few steps back, barely avoiding collision. A cloud of smoke was created from the dust, as the figure landed ahead of him.
Following that, something flashed and he swayed his body left and right, barely avoiding whatever sort of weapon was launched at him.
A third, strike had come from behind, attacking from his blind spot.
*Clang*
The surrounding smoke which he had breathed out from his cigar, parried it at the very last second as his retreat came to a stop.
"Oh... You dodged that...?" The voice asked as the dust cloud dispersed.
A figure emerged, dark messy brunet hair with pink irises. Two black horns with the top half being a bright red and shark-like teeth could be seen poking out from his mouth. He wore an excited expression.
Above his palm a throwable knife levitated, for a split second it seemed to clone into countless others as it radiated a strange aura.
"Move your leg..."
"Huh? What was that?" The man asked as he looked down.
He was standing on top of a corpse of a human wearing a strange green camo uniform with a badge on it.
It had appeared that he had landed on the enemy's corpse. Realising this, he stomped on the corpses head, almost crunching it into smithereens.
"I SAID MOVE YOUR DAMN LEG YOU FUCK!!" The man yelled out as he fired bullets from his Glock at the horned man ahead of him.
*Bang!* *Bang!* *Bang!*
Two bullets were suddenly sliced as the throwable knives had split into two, but on the third, the horned man's head cocked back.
There was contact... Or so it seemed.
The horned man brought his head back forward with his tongue sticking out.
The bullet could be seen stopped just ahead of his forehead. A blade had emerged from his skin, blocking it just in time.
"Too bad~ It failed."
"Did it?" Roan asked as he puffed out some more smoke out of his mouth. "It was a distraction."
A loud growl reverberated throughout the air, as one of the many zombies which had reached them, leapt at horned one.

"Dimension Cube? What does it do?!" Gray asked as he rushed towards the underground base with the book on his hand.
"It creates a separate dimension inside it, inside is a domain belonging to only my father. But I'm not sure why he'd just use it randomly like that..."
"Go and find out!" He shouted just ahead of the base doors.
"Yeah..! I'll be back soon...!" She replied before leaping away.
A gust of wind, permeated throughout the air as she leapt away.
Gray quickly opened the base doors, everyone was still most likely asleep. But it was an emergency.
Just as he was about to yell out to wake them all up, his body suddenly froze up.
*Throb*
[Timer has hit 0.]
[Evolution almost complete.]
[Temporarily entering hibernation mode, to complete evolution.]
'What did you just-'
Gray's eyes widened as his body suddenly gave out. The door to underground base was open.
As a result, with nothing holding him back, he ended up collapsing down onto the stairs before rolling and crashing to the floor on his neck.
He tried pausing himself, but his skill didn't activate.
He couldn't speak, move or even breathe.
'Move... Don't do this... Not now... System...!'
All he could do was see the book which had dropped beside him. It opened on it's own and began to flip through the pages at an incredibly fast rate.
Glowing unreadable symbols could be seen forming on the blank pages.
'MOVE DAMN IT!!!' He yelled out inwardly.
[Entered Hibernation Mode.]
Everything became dark.
[The System is resonating with <The Chronicles of Chronos>]
[New Bloodline Quest Has been added]

Roan's back could be seen implanted into the brick wall of one of the broken buildings which had been around them.
*Cough* *Cough*
He coughed out blood, his head was hung as the flames from his cigar had burnt out.
His arms were stretched out, trembling as it held onto a long lance made of crystalised smoke.
All the zombies in the area had been all cleanly decapitated.
The horned one hadn't even broken a sweat.
"What the fuck do you beings want from us...?" Roan grimaced in pain.
"What does it matter to a dead man?" He asked as he approached him.
The closer he got, the more he was certain of his nearing death. His life was flashing before his eyes.
-Memory
Before the apocalypse had begun, he already worked for the government in the army as a sergeant.
He was a father to two kids and lived with a loving wife. Things would get lonely whenever he would get deployed but he'd always try to make so he could spend as much time with them as possible.
However...
It was during his shift at work that the labyrinths appeared.
His wife, son and daughter were one of the many suffered casualties.
Now he was all alone.
-Memory end.
"But since you asked... War... We want war. I, Baron, Reizar Blade, claim so."
Reizar was holding onto two daggers whilst his countless throwable knives were all aimed and directed at Roan. "Any last words?"
Roan puffed the last bit of smoke he could muster, watching as it hit against the the horned ones face. "Go to hell..." He added as he pulled out a closed light.
Reizar propelled all the knives at Roan, but at the same time, Roan opened the lighter.
*Pierce-* *BOOOOM!*
