Path to Dual Cultivation

Chapter 14: Sect Leader of the Fleeting Sword Sect

Chapter 14: Sect Leader of the Fleeting Sword Sect

"Now that you have a cultivation technique, you will need a place to cultivate peacefully." Senior Wu said to Su Yang before shifting his gaze to Huang Xiaoyun and continuing, "Disciple Huang, go show your Junior Apprentice Brother around the living quarters and his room."

Huang Xiaoyun, who had been in a daze this entire time, snapped out of it and nodded in a stiff manner, "Okay."

"Disciple Su, come find me once you unseal your Dantian and enter the Elementary Spirit Realm. Since you have a large-sized Dantian, it will take you a little longer to unseal it, but it shouldn't take you more than half a year." Senior Wu said to him.

"Yes, Master!" Su Yang responded enthusiastically.

"Then I will leave for now. I have to let the Sect Leader know about my new disciple." Senior Wu flew away with a prideful look on his face.

"Let's go, Junior Apprentice Brother." Huang Xiaoyun said to him as she approached the disciples' living quarters.

"Coming!" Su Yang quickly chased after her.

Once they were inside the building, Huang Xiaoyun gave Su Yang a tour around the place while explaining some of the rules to him.

"This is the bathroom. Make sure you put up a sign if you intend on using it."

"This is the kitchen, but we never use it, so there are no supplies. We usually supplement ourselves with Nourishment Pills. If you want to eat real food, you will have to leave this peak and head to the Outer Sword Peak, where most Outer Disciples are located."

Huang Xiaoyun suddenly retrieved a brown-colored pill from her spatial ring and showed it to Su Yang.

"This is a Nourishment Pill. You can go a month without feeling any hunger with a single one of these pills."

However, Su Yang was more interested in the ring than the food and asked, "Did you pull that pill out of your ring?"

"Is this your first time seeing a spatial ring?" Huang Xiaoyun showed him the ring on her finger and explained, "This is a spatial ring. It's a spiritual treasure that has its own dimension, allowing you to store things inside. There are also spatial pouches, which are much cheaper than spatial rings."

"Wow... how cool..." Su Yang muttered.

"You'll probably receive one from Master later as well. However, since you need to be at least in the Profound Spirit Realm to use them, it probably won't happen for a while."

They continued their tour shortly after.

"This is where you'll be staying from now on." Huang Xiaoyun showed Su Yang his room.

It was an ordinary room with nothing fancy. There was a bed, a closet, a mirror, and a desk, nothing else, not even a single decoration.

"I live in that room over there if you ever need anything, but I am usually training outside, so I am rarely in the living quarters. Also, if you plan on cultivating, make sure you put a sign so that we don't disturb you by accident."

"Any questions?" Huang Xiaoyun asked.

Su Yang looked at the door located at the very end of the hallway and asked, "Who lives there?"

"Ah, that's Senior Apprentice Sister–Master's first disciple's room. She's currently outside the sect on a mission and probably won't be back anytime soon."

"How many disciples does Master have currently?" Su Yang asked.

"Three, you being the third one."

"Huh? Only three? I thought there would be more considering the size of this building and Master's status."

"Do you think everyone is qualified to be Master's disciple? The more powerful an elder is, the higher the requirements they have for their disciples. Master is extremely picky, so he has accepted only three disciples in the last 100 years."

"Only three in a hundred years...? How old is the Master?"

"Who knows, but he's at least several hundred years old." Huang Xiaoyun shrugged.

Su Yang swallowed nervously after hearing such a number, as he could not fathom living for so long as a mortal.

"Then I'll leave you alone for now. Unfortunately, since we have different cultivation methods, I am unable to give you any advice."

"Your thoughts are enough, Senior Apprentice Sister." Su Yang expressed a handsome smile on his face.

"Ugh..." Huang Xiaoyun felt an odd sensation in her heart when she saw his expression.

"T-Then good luck..." She quickly turned around and walked away to avoid having her red face seen by him.

Now that he was alone, Su Yang hung a sign that said 'cultivation in session' on the door before entering his room. Thus, beginning his journey as a cultivator.

Meanwhile, at the Sect Leader's living quarters, Senior Wu explained the situation to the Sect Leader of the Fleeting Sword Sect, Han Jianzhi.

"You what?!" Han Jianzhi expressed immense shock after hearing Senior Wu's story.

"You accepted another disciple in secret, and he even has the Perfect Sword Body?! Do you have any idea what you've done?!"

Senior Wu calmly nodded, "I am well aware of what the others will think once they learn of this, but his talent is worth it."

"Grand Elder... You promised the others that you would not accept another disciple for a decade when you took Huang Xiaoyun as your disciple... four years ago. How am I going to explain this to the others without causing a riot?" Han Jianzhi shook his head in distress.

"You don't need to tell them anything."

"And how do you intend on keeping him a secret forever? It's simply impossible. The others will eventually learn of his existence, and when they realize that we've tried to keep him a secret, it would only worsen things."

Hearing this, Senior Wu suddenly shouted angrily, "So what if they riot?! This is the Perfect Sword Body we are talking about! Who in this sect besides me and you have the qualifications to teach him?! We would only be throwing away his talent if we let another elder teach him! Are you willing to sacrifice such talent just to please some elders?!"

The Sect Leader couldn't dispute Senior Wu's logic. Senior Wu hadn't earned the title of Grand Elder through luck. As the sect's most brilliant teacher, nobody in the Fleeting Sword Sect was more qualified than him to teach someone with a Perfect Sword Body.

Yet, a commotion caused by the other elders wouldn't be insignificant either, as it could potentially harm the sect as a whole.

"How about this? You can continue teaching him behind the scenes, but officially, he is my disciple." Han Jianzhi suddenly suggested.

"What?! That's insane! If you announce him as your disciple, he will become the Prime Disciple, someone who will become the future Sect Leader!" Senior Wu was shocked by his suggestion.

A Sect Leader accepting a disciple was entirely different from a Sect Elder accepting a disciple, as a Sect Leader would only take on a disciple if they intended to groom them as the next Sect Leader. It wasn't something that could be taken lightly, much less done as an excuse.

Han Jianzhi smiled and said, "Since he has the Perfect Sword Body and a large-sized Dantian, if he's truly as talented as you claim him to be, I don't see anything wrong with making him the next Sect Leader. Moreover, it's about time I look for a successor, anyway."

"Still... I think we should wait a little before we make a decision, as this would affect the sect's future. Since Su Yang will be spending the next few months breaking his mortal shackles, we can hide his existence from the others for the time being." Senior Wu said.

"Alright, let's do just that." Han Jianzhi nodded.
