Chapter 42: Followers
Chapter 42: Followers
Terry kicked the creature in the stomach and pushed it away, but the beast decreased some of the damage when the armor appeared. In the next moment, he approached, and even before he could get in range, and used Crescent Slash. The tip of the sword eventually cut a bit of the enemy's chest and its chin, making it grunt in pain.
The monster swung its spear from the side, but Terry recovered his stance and blocked the attack with his sword. Once again, he kicked the creature before jumping and approaching while swinging down the sword. Another large wound appeared on the chest, but then Terry used Crescent Slash again and increased the size of the wound.
While the beast was paralyzed due to the pain, Terry thrust his sword into that thing's neck and killed it.
"As you can see, they aren't ordinary monsters. They are stronger, faster, and more suited for combat," Terry said while picking up the metal plate and then got the magic stone as well. "Don't try to hold back against them. They are smart enough to surprise you."
Rebecca wanted to say that he made it look easy, but everyone could tell that the creature truly was what Terry told them it was. Although they had just arrived, Terry told them to fight a few times before going home. He has his Restoration Wand with him, so things will be fine.
"You don't look even a bit happy after getting a dungeon here," Rebecca said.
"... The situation is getting worse, you can't spread this, but new and more troublesome dungeons are appearing," Terry said. "I think that you should stay there with your siblings. From what I had learned, the new dungeons appear where large concentrations of hunters can be found."
"You should have told me that one week ago, everything in Chicago is ready to work without us," Rebecca shrugged. "I also brought those two with me. Returning now would be a massive pain in the ass... Besides, the Storm Empress is here, and you aren't half bad if you managed to her and ended up with the dungeon."
Terry sighed. Still, in the end, it would be better for people to be where the strongest hunters are. New York was one of those places now.
With the new material in their hands, the people of the guild will get even stronger, so the security of the place will increase. As long as Terry doesn't let the portal grow, things will be fine.
"Anyway, I am going to help those guys as well. I didn't do much exercise last week," Rebecca said and then approached the portal.
Although she got her trait a few weeks ago, Rebecca's spells were already strong enough to slow down and wound even the mechanical warriors.
The other hunters weren't half bad. They were inexperienced, so they got hurt several times, but they had guts. Moreover, their traits were pretty good. One of them would make the enemy get heavier the more attacked they were. Another one could make the wounds if the enemies bleed more than usual, and another one could even slow down the enemy with telekinesis.
"What a bunch of cheaters... Well, who am I to say that?" Terry thought and then shrugged.
During the next few days, when he wasn't hunting, Terry helped Rebecca with the admission of new members. Speaking of which, Terry asked how that would work in Chicago, and Rebecca explained that she let the oldest members deal with that. She said that they would be rewarded if they kept increasing or at least kept obtaining the same amount of magic stones. She also said that Terry would come now and then to check things and that they would deal with him in case something suspicious happened.
Truth be told, the money from a single dungeon was enough for Terry, but he wanted some powerful subordinates. Some won't back down even when they think that death is fast approaching.
Still, Terry only helped her for three more days... When the sphere was almost ten meters tall, Terry decided that it was time to do some cleanup on the other side.
"Are you sure that the new recruits can guard the portal while we are there?" Terry asked.
"They have the magic weapons that you lent them, so they should be fine," Rebecca said. "Besides, no monster will come if we do our job properly."
Terry didn't have the connections to forge weapons with the new metal, so he gave some to Vanessa to forge them. The first batch will only come in one week, so Terry leveled up some magic wands to help the newbies.
In any case, Terry checked his weapons and then looked at the team that Rebecca had selected. The last time, forty enemies were waiting for them, so a similar number should be waiting for them. Hopefully...

With the sword and the crossbow in his hand and the combined effects, Terry was confident that he could cause devastating damage. So, his guild could face the monsters without Vaness's help. It would be dangerous, but it was something they had to pull off anyway. Terry's guild aimed to make those who were weak to be able to fight... fight all possible enemies.
So, with that in mind, they crossed the portal, and the others followed him.
