Only My Weapons Level UP

Chapter 40: Prototypes

Chapter 40: Prototypes

After that, Terry asked about the research regarding the new metal. That was another thing that the guild masters were also interested in. However, Vanessa didn't look like someone who had good news.

"We are able to reforge the plates into weapons, but we didn't manage to learn how the enemies used weapons and armor," Vanessa explained. "We are studying some of their bodies as well, but no result was obtained. We can only assume that it was some sort of racial trait of their species, and it will take years to understand how they do that while analyzing only corpses."

That was indeed a pity, but if they were better than most metals, then they should work well for fighting purposes. Still, some strength will be required to use them since each plate has one kilogram of weight, and several of them would be needed to make any weapon.

"We have some prototypes that we can give you all," Vanessa said while looking at Terry.

She was still pissed that Terry didn't want to follow her plan, and if that was her way of convincing Terry to work with her, it wasn't working well.

While Terry didn't need new weapons, he wanted to check the metal in action. Hopefully, it will be better than steel. Speaking of which, Vanessa made several types be forged, and since Terry didn't use a sword until now, he decided to get one.

Longsword of Greysteel - Lv 0 (0/10 EXP) (Uncommon)

Attack Power: 04

Defense: 04

Magic Defense: 04

Mana: 0/10

Durability: 05/05

Terry frowned... it didn't look special in any way. He didn't know if humans could produce magic weapons without relying on materials that had those properties, but even that seemed too much.

It was also weird that the weapon had some other parameters... even mana that was supposed to be charged. What could he do with that?

"It seems like a normal weapon..." one guild master said.

"It appears so... it is the first time that we have tried to forge something that has no magic properties at first glance," Vanessa said. "We might learn something after using them a few times."

After that, the group had lunch and then decided to rest for a short while before heading to the dungeon again. Everyone wanted to check things, even those that got hurt. So, the whole group was back again.

Vanessa nodded when she saw everyone with their weapons in their hands, and then they began to cross the portal. It didn't take long for Terry to understand that something had changed... As soon as everyone stepped away from the portal, They saw themselves standing in the middle of a massive grassland while a few dozen of those monsters were around.

The previous scenario was of plain lands where they could see some groves in the distance, but they couldn't see anything like that... the portal took them somewhere. Still, they had to think about that later. The monsters began to charge toward them.

"Use the same formation as before!" Vanessa shouted. "Their numbers aren't the same as before. We can do this!"

Everyone dashed toward the enemies, and things ended rather quickly since Vanessa didn't hold back and shocked several of them with electric spears. No one held back either since the weapons didn't give them any confidence. However, those who used Mana to enhance their bodies noticed something. When they killed some enemies, they felt their mana being restored.

Longsword of Greysteel - Lv 0 (02/30 EXP) (Uncommon)

Attack Power: 12

Defense: 12

Magic Defense: 12

Mana: 10/30

Durability: 15/15

Terry only killed two of them since he didn't have experience using swords, but the feeling wasn't weird. It felt like he could do a lot of things, but not something amazing with swords.

Regardless, Terry confirmed that each kill made the sword absorb the mana of the targets, and if he had used some, the blade would restore his mana. It was like the effect of some weapons that he had that could save mana, but it was a lot less circumstantial.

"We can talk about this later..." Vanessa said while looking around. "Let's take the corpses back to Earth."

The new type of dungeon was more and more becoming a real thing. It was also quite worrisome since it looked like the monsters could attack as soon as they found the portal. One couldn't say if they could control the arrival of the portals, but if they could, that would be catastrophic...

The idea of monsters suddenly appearing in the middle of the bases made the guild masters break into a cold sweat. In any case, Terry got the dungeon for himself, but things weren't all rainbows and rays of sunshine.

"For the time being, I am going to report this to the government and ask if they know of similar cases in our country or in others," Vanessa said. "We obtain something out of this, apparently, but don't drop your guard... a group might suddenly appear out of the portal."

Terry didn't miss Louis' presence even a bit, but he wondered what the annoying guy was doing when he didn't show up for several days.

Terry wanted some talk to think, but the other guild masters approached to talk with him. Naturally, they want to negotiate about the metals. Their capacity to store mana and give it to the user wasn't something that they had seen before, and it would be even more valuable for mages and Ranged fighters. That would increase their firepower tremendously...

Defining the value of the metal so soon was impossible. Still, Terry confirmed that he would negotiate with them once things were ready to do so.

After a while, Vanessa and some officers of the government arrived to talk with the groups that were responsible; Louis was one of them, so Terry couldn't help but sigh.

"How rude... I hope that you won't ever be received with a sigh," Louis said.

"Tell us what we need to know," Terry said.

"... It isn't the first time that we have heard about the new dungeons, and the portals led hunters to other locations," Louis said. "In fact, some portals on this side changed locations a few times."
