Chapter 18: Quick work

Chapter 18: Quick work

After watching the enemies through the darkness for two hours, Terry realized that they wouldn't achieve anything just by watching. The monsters didn't even try to leave the cave either...

"There is something weird about this place... those guys have other tricks aside from just hiding underground," Terry said. "We will need to attack them to make their leader show up."

"Something similar happened when we attacked the goblins and the sahuagin," Rebecca nodded. "Their leader only showed up when we invaded their territory."

Terry nodded... it would be easier just to assassinate their leader. Some people have the traits for that... maybe they don't show up until a battle is imminent. Still, that means that a fight was unavoidable.

"They don't have long-range attacks, and this is the only way out. We can pull this off," Terry said. "We will attack them... this should work well as training."

"I don't like this idea... shouldn't I need to retreat?" Rebecca asked. "I should be able to help more if I learn Mana Manipulation."

Things would get easier if Terry just used the magic wands. Their magic power would increase, helping Rebecca snipe them with a single shot and also gain other effects and skills. However, that would be too easy. So far, Terry had been training a lot, but he barely got hit... there might come a time when that could come and bite him in the back...

"Just focus on covering for me," Terry said. "If something goes wrong, you run away. That is why you shouldn't leave the tunnel."

Rebecca sighed... she could understand where Terry was coming from. He also didn't seem overconfident, and he always considered many things while making his choices. In the end, she could only nod.

While Terry was focusing his senses on the battle, Rebecca thought of what she could do to help. Using the three wands wasn't enough. Even if she hits all the enemies in the head, she will need to clear hits to kill them. At best, she will be able to kill one-third of them... leaving Terry to deal with the other seventy didn't seem like a good idea.

"Do you think we can attack them after checking those houses?" Rebecca asked.

"... Do you think that they have weapons or other things that we can use?" Terry asked. "Even if that is the case, that will put you into a difficult spot... you won't be able to retreat if things go South."

"I just want to make sure that we will use everything possible on our side in order to win," Rebecca said.

Approaching would be too dangerous... the monsters could notice them... at that point, Terry wondered why the monsters didn't notice them yet? They always found them by walking in a straight line like they could sense their smell from hundreds of meters away, but now... was it because there was no wind? There were a lot of things that Terry needed to learn...

"All right... let's move toward those houses," Terry said. "We will try to infiltrate without being found, but if they find us, I will stop them for a while, and you will check the houses."

Rebecca nodded. She knew that she had to move fast, but Terry had a card that he hadn't shown yet, so he wouldn't be much in a bind. They slowly began to circle around the camp using the darkness in the corner of the place.

While they moved very slowly, they reached their first target after five minutes, but they didn't notice any of the giants moving. They began to walk toward the house and quickly noticed that it didn't have windows... only the front door. In the end, they will have to expose themselves.

Terry looked at Rebecca, and while holding back a sigh, she nodded. That was her idea, but she didn't like the fact that she would have to let Terry fight without being exposed.

Since he was going to expose himself, Terry could make sure that Rebecca wouldn't be noticed for a while. With that in mind, he slashed his spear three times on the back of the house and easily created an entrance. When the giants turned around after hearing the noise, they saw Terry jumping and landing at the top of the house.

"Surprise, motherfuckers," Terry said.

When the first enemies got up to fight him, Terry jumped with all his might and approached an enemy that was ten meters away before thrusting his spear at its head. The creature died instantly.

The other giants tried to surround him, but Terry was the one running around and attacking the second target. The creature tried to kick him, but Terry just moved to the side and slashed the middle of the enemy's leg above the knee. The cut had been deep and hit the artery, and the monster was a goner.

"Come to think of it, I can also hit that artery to deal with them," Terry thought when he saw three giants approaching.

When the creatures tried to kick him at the same time, Terry used Deadly Jump. He reached the height just enough to attack the enemy's head, but he felt that he could have reached a higher point if he had wished for it... nevertheless, he swung his spear and cut half of the enemy's skull with a single strike.

The monsters looked at Terry, completely astonished. They didn't think that someone so small would have that much power. All of a sudden, several of them jumped to smash him with their bodies. Terry didn't have any place to run, so he just braced himself for the impact after aiming his spear at the heart of one of the giants.

The creature that landed on top of Terry got killed instantly, but Terry had a hard time moving the body. Even without blocking, the defense of the spear protected him. In any case, he made quick work of those that had fallen nearby...
