Chapter 14: An Unknown Gem and the Mayor’s Quest!
Chapter 14: An Unknown Gem and the Mayor’s Quest!
Diamond-grade potions were one of the requirements for the quest.
As for the Altar of Orpha, well, it'd at least fall under the category of good stuff.
Altar of Orpha (Gold)
Effect: Combines one main Silver-grade skill book with two secondary Silver-grade skill books to have a certain chance of forming a special Gold-grade skill book related to the users class.
Usage: 1 time
Description: A magical item created by Gods with the power to combine skills.
"After I gather three Silver-grade skill books, I can try combining the book once."
Su Ming stored the items into his inventory.
By this time, he had arrived near the Mayors house.
A white-haired old man stood in front of the gate, accompanied by two teams of soldiers patrolling the area.
Aaron Town Mayor Lv20
A look of worry appeared on the Mayors kind face.
"Adventurer Cang Hai, welcome to Aaron Town. Have you hunted enough wolves yet?"
The Mayor asked slowly.
His voice sounded somewhat hoarse and weak.
"Here are the carcasses of the wild wolves I've hunted."
Su Ming nodded and retrieved the corpses from his inventory before placing them on the ground.
The Mayor immediately called a team of soldiers to count the number of dead bodies.
After counting everything, the mayor slightly smiled and said, "Adventurer Cang Hai, thank you for your contribution to Aaron Town. This is your reward."
Ding!
"Congratulations on completing the novice questDispose the Wild Wolves. You have been rewarded with 10 gold, 200 EXP and 1 random Black Iron equipment of your profession."
"You've obtained the equipment:Ring of Divine halo (Black Iron)."
Su Ming received the quest reward.
Ring of Halo (Black Iron)
Category: Finger
Attributes:
MP +100
Magic Attack +2
Equipment requirement: Lv2 Priest profession
The attributes of the ring were just average, but no matter how small a mosquito may be, it was still meat*.
[TLN: *It means that something is always better than nothing.]Su Ming wore the ring and his attributes increased slightly.
He looked up at the elderly Town Mayor. Welp, the next step was the highlight of the main event.
"Mayor, I see that you look depressed, could it be that something terrible happened in the town?"
No, it has nothing to do with the town. Its concerning my pitiful son El, who had met with a mishap. He's under a demon curse and had so far, remained unconscious."
The Mayor sighed.
"Curse? Perhaps I could find a method to rescue him!"
"You?" Upon hearing that, the Mayor sized up Su Ming and continued, "So you're a priest, ai."
The Mayor still shook his head, "Even Bishop Halman couldn't dispel the curse, so how could you do it unless"
The Mayor's words came to an abrupt halt.
"This, is this Endless Jadeite potion?!"
He looked incredulously at the potion in Su Ming's hand that was surrounded by an emerald-green halo.
Yes.
Having heard his affirmation, the Mayor held back his excitement and solemnly requested, "Adventurer, could you give me the Jadeite Potion? In return, I will give you my family heirloom."
No problem.
Su Ming decisively agreed.
As for the so-called family heirloom of the Town Mayor, he wasnt the least interested in it.
As long as the chain quest was triggered, the final rewards worth would not be any lesser than a Diamond grades.
He wasn't going to do a money-losing deal.
"Thank you for your help!"
The Mayor received the potion as if it was a treasure before quickly entering his sons room.
Just then, a system prompt resounded.
Ding!
"The Mayor of Aaron Towns, Buck, favoritism towards you has increased by 50 points. Due to the favoritism points reaching 80, you will receive a hidden quest from Mayor Buck.
Its a success!
The corner of Su Ming's mouth slightly curved up as he stood outside the door, waiting.
Three minutes later, Mayor Buck walked out of the room with a relaxed face. In his hand was a pale beryl gem.
"Adventurer, this is my ancestral heirloom. According to the rumors from my father's generation, even though this gem had faced the burning heat of a dragon's breath, it had still ended up being perfectly intact."
Su Ming casually received the gem and probed its attributes.
Unknown Gem
Quality: Unknown
Description: A wisp of antiquity that remained after the baptism of time.
Hmm?
Unexpectedly, the information on the gem couldnt be detected.
Now, its kind of interesting.
Su Ming developed some interest towards the gem.
Generally speaking, there were only two situations where the information of the item couldn't be seen.
One, the gem was of an excessively higher quality.
Two, the gem was a clue to open hidden quests and special instances.
From the description, this gem was clearly not simple.
Su Ming squinted his eyes to examine the gemstone, doubting whether it was just his illusion or not. He felt that there seemed to be some sort of an eyeball or an orb inside the gem, and upon closer inspection, he felt that the gemstone was becoming clearer and transparent.
Something was definitely odd.
Thinking of this, Su Ming put away the Unknown Gem and left it for later examination.
On the other hand, after hesitating for a while, the Mayor uttered a question, "Adventurer, may I continue to request you to do one more thing?"
"You say it, I am willing to help."
Su Ming agreed briskly.
"Many demons have appeared in the mountains behind the Black Crow Forest. I hope you can help eradicate these demons and ensure the safety of the residents of Aaron Town. After this matter was dealt with, we will pay you generous rewards."
The Town Mayor requested.
Ding!
"Congratulations on triggering the hidden quest,Demon Crisis (1).Do you accept the quest?"
Accept.
Su Ming resolutely accepted the quest.
Demon Crisis (1)
Difficulty: Silver-grade
Type: Chain QuestFirst quest
Quest Description: Many demonic creatures have appeared in the Hills Mountains, threatening the safety of the inhabitants of Aaron Town. Please eradicate them!
Requirements: Kill 100Ghouls, 100Fanged Wolf Demons, andHills Wraith.
Su Ming's gaze shifted to the last target.
TheHill's Wraithwas a genuine Boss; it was Guardian Boss whose actual strength was much more powerful than an average Boss.
His current strength wasn't enough to kill it.
In <Origin>, there would be Guardian Bosses on Lv10 maps and above.
The rewards for the first kill of such Bosses were very generous!
Moreover, the first kill reward was an item that would increase the guild members experience points for slaying monsters in that specific map.
In his previous life, for the sake of getting the first kill of the Guardian Boss, many major guilds fought until their heads broke, and blood flowed.
Looks like I need to level up first before proceeding with the quest.
Su Ming formulated a plan.
