Chapter 176
Chapter 176 - My Words will Never be Broken
Having said that, Jiang Hao disregarded the shouts of the driver and Guo Yifei, making a beeline for the sleazy man!
Upon reaching the sleazy man, Jiang Hao was surprised by his composure. The man was aware of his approach but feigned ignorance.
Jiang Hao was instantly infuriated.
“Scum, you're quite the actor, aren't you?”
Yet, to his astonishment, the sleazy man continued his charade!
The man faced Jiang Hao with a look of feigned innocence.
“Are you talking to me?”
“What am I pretending? This is absurd. Are you out of your mind?”
Jiang Hao let out a derisive laugh.
“Still putting on an act, I see.”
“I warned you, if you kept following me, I'd cripple you!”
“You didn't listen, but I'm a man of my word!”
A flicker of panic crossed the sleazy man's eyes at the warning.
“It's you!”
But before he could finish, Jiang Hao's hand was already on the man's shoulder blade, and with a forceful push—
“Crack!”
A sharp snap was followed by a piercing scream.
“Ahh!”
Writhing in agony, the sleazy man curled up on the ground. Jiang Hao tossed him aside like garbage and walked away.
Not far off, a stone materialized in Jiang Hao's hand. With a flick of his wrist, it vanished into thin air.
“Whoa!”
A chilling, bizarre wail echoed from behind him.
The man lay on the ground, clutching his groin, as blood seeped through his underwear.
Returning to the taxi, Jiang Hao found the driver and Guo Yifei staring at him, dumbfounded.
With unruffled composure, Jiang Hao got into the car.
“Driver, let's move on.”
The driver snapped out of his daze.
“Oh? Yes, right away!”
The car ride lasted only a few minutes, but the tension inside was palpable.
The driver kept stealing glances at Jiang Hao in the rearview mirror, both deliberately and inadvertently.
Guo Yifei, sitting beside Jiang Hao, also stole glances at her cousin now and then.
Despite the estrangement between her mother and aunt, which meant infrequent visits, they stayed connected through the marvels of modern technology.
She had always enjoyed a close relationship with her aunt's family.
Yet, upon meeting her cousin for the first time, she was somewhat perplexed; he was hardly recognizable as the cousin she once knew!
Meanwhile, Jiang Hao was feeling quite frustrated. Hadn't he merely given a creep his comeuppance?
Why the sudden silence?
Twenty minutes later, a taxi pulled up in front of the Jing Tai complex.
Jiang Hao exited the cab, grabbed his belongings, and settled the fare.
“Thank you, driver!”
He offered his thanks with polite finality.
The driver, taken aback by the courtesy, sped off in a cloud of exhaust.
Jiang Hao's mood soured further.
“Come on, cousin, this is where we're staying now!”
He lugged his suitcase and gestured to Guo Yifei, who was surveying the area.
Guo Yifei hurried to keep up, but as she took in the upscale surroundings and the refined architecture of Jing Tai District, skepticism filled her gaze.
These homes surely commanded a hefty price!
Yet she was aware that her aunt's family was far from affluent.
Indeed, it was this very fact that led her influential mother to disdain her aunt's household. And with her aunt's stubborn streak, it's no wonder their families seldom mingled!
She had even come here without her mother's knowledge!
But now, what she saw before her seemed at odds with the memories etched in her mind.
Her once overbearing and formidable cousin now resided in a posh neighborhood, and her curiosity was piqued more than ever.
