Chapter 292: Getting The Skull
Chapter 292: Getting The Skull
"Damn! We were slightly late," the guard who kept shouting from the beginning roared, "look for those bastards, they can't be too far away!"
"Captain hurry here at the tunnel," another shout came from one of his guards and instantly the captain ran towards the tunnel.
"They came from the other room?" the face of the captain darkened at once, "damn! We are all screwed! If our lord figured it out we would all be killed! We and our families" his body trembled while his hand was clenching tightly over a gear.
"Go, don't stand here like idiots," the captain roared again in infinite anger, "and send someone up there, let those lazy asses move around the town and for a tight blockade there. Not a single fly would escape from here unless I say so!"
The guards all moved in unison without saying a word while a couple climbed up to deliver the orders to those coming from above.
"They were in a hurry," the captain put the gear over his cheeks, "still warm not so far away then."
He turned to the guards as he roared again, "let's go boys, they aren't far off our grasp. I swear to kill them and their families till the last one those damned thieves will get me and my entire family wiped out! And yours as well! Move don't stand like fools there move!!"
The sound of the captain and his large team of guards started to fade away. The entire room looked strangely calm, like the calm before the storm.
"They all left good," yet after less than one minute, a silhouette appeared inside the vault.
It was no one but Bloom as his stealth skill time ended. He was standing a few inches away from the deadly trap around the item, and that was the only place no one of the guards would dare to touch.
"And they are moving away from here," he checked the map and followed those berserk red dots moving away from this room. "Good, now I can figure out how to get you."
He glanced at the skull lying in peace over the ground. It was so big, no less than the skull of the dragon he once gave to Anna.
Yet it had no horns at all, but long and sharp scissor-like teeth. "What monster did it come from?" he muttered before shaking off his head, "not time to worry about this now."
He had a plan but he didn't hurry to test before he found all the guards with their captain leaving the second room in a hurry and ascending towards the surface.
"They took the bait excellent," he even laughed, "now let's get you my precious one."
Bloom knew he had only one shot and he decided to take all the risk to seize this item.
The next moment he pointed his sword towards the skull before muttering:
"Dash!"
"Boom!"
The next moment the pillar of fire appeared once again and barbecued him. Yet he tried to keep himself conscious and not distracted by the immense and inhuman pain he was feeling right now.
For his luck moving out was forced by the skill and so even if his body was melting away he was able to touch the skull.
"Get the f*ck in!" he roared before pointing to the other hand with the sword who was also getting barbecued at the moment. "D- a- s- sh!"
With extreme difficulty he mumbled the skill and the next moment everything went dark for him for a moment.
Then he spotted the world around in a ghost view. He was dead yet he saw his body slamming outside the fire and hit the nearby box filled with gold coins hard.
"System alert: player has died."
"System alert: player has an instant revival chance granted to him by the quest."
"System alert: player can be resurrected during the next hour."
"System alert: player can select the moment to resurrect by saying: Resurrect."
"System alert: if one hour passed and the player didn't select to resurrect then the system will resurrect him forcibly."
"Resurrect!"
Yet Bloom didn't hesitate to return to life now. He had little time left and still the vault wasn't cleared.
"Damn! That was really a thing I don't want ever to experience again!!" the moment he returned to life he shouted in deep pain like he was still being on fire.
He took a couple of minutes to cool off, and luckily no one was around to attack him during this period.
"Let's see where are you now," he opened the map first thing and checked the status of his enemies. "Running around like aimless bugs hahaha, keep looking for me idiots. I'm here just under your noses."
He closed the map after he found everyone was already moving in the big palace and its surroundings to look for him.
"Sigh, can't even see what it was," he opened his inventory but found no skull there. "I hope it won't be something I would regret not having," he closed the inventory before glancing over the remaining third of the huge loot here.
"It's a waste to leave you here to be honest come, all come to papa."
He started gathering up all the loot before he left the vault over the cold ground with no speck of dust behind. "It's a shame I can't take that protective thing with me," he shook his head while giving that deadly fire trap a last glance.
Then he went directly to the surface with calm and steady steps like he was walking in his backyard garden.
"You are panicking now, I bet," he laughed while opening the chat between him and Sharel. As expected she was panicking, even reaching the degree of pleading with him not to cancel the contract.
'Come out with me on a date,' he sent before pausing for a moment, 'you and your boss yeah the two of you are worthy to be my girls.'
