Chapter 7: Justice
Chapter 7: Justice
Runner was the same in-game name Shen used in Universe Online. As for why he chose Runner, the reason was simple. He wanted to be the fastest runner in the game. He was playing the game to reach his goal that he could not achieve because of his injury.
His mother's last wish, kinda silly for doing this in a fake world called virtual reality. But Yang Shen was just that desperate since his life was around his goal. So he was desperate that he brought his goal into the game.
He was hoping that he could fulfill his mother's last wish even it was in the game. Hence Runner was born in Universe Online, the most popular game in China.
Shen read the guide of them and soon he came up with a built. Agility affected his running speed in the game, so if he wanted to be the fastest runner he had to focus his status on Agility. Hence he came up with his own built, a warrior with swordsman as an advanced specialty with full Agility.
A swordsman with full agility, it was unheard built. He ran fast, but he was a swordsman. He was supposed to deal damage, a damage dealer. But because of his allocation status, he did not do damage and he could not rank the monster too. He was a fast paper people called him.
Thanks to that, he griefed the party he joined in a raid boss or dungeon run. He griefed the people who played with him as he became a burden to them. As he played the game longer, he soon became famous in the game. Of course, he was famous in a bad way.
Many people complained about him, the forum was mocking him, and he became the laughing stock of the whole China server of the Universe Online. By then, he became a plague of Universe Online of the China server. People avoided him, they mocked him when they met, and he was basically playing alone.

It was the man who tried to grab him but electrocuted instead because of the Harassment System implemented by Sky. The man was waving his spear while his two female friends showed their bow.
The remaining three also showed their swords, waving them at him. He was sure these people would do something bad to him. He had to run from them, but the way back was blocked by them. A level 1 player couldn't overrun another level player 1, they got the same status.
Shen did not dare running further toward the hunting ground. He was level 1, going further forward was a higher level hunting ground. He was not a pro player with an insane mechanic, he could not beat the monster with a higher level than him. Not with this starter equipment too.
Shen looked closely at the man's face. Sky did not allow them to change their looks, so the man should be having his original look. He tried to recall the man's face, but he could not just remember them, not a single one.
They approached him as the other players avoided the group. No one was going to fight against a group, especially they just started the game. Even though the group was about to bully the loner, no one was going to stand up for him, a stranger that was not related to them.
Shen was not going to blame them for not helping. He was thinking about how to get away from the situation. Logging out was a good option. As long as they did not camp his logging out spot because when he came back, he would spawn on the spot where he logged out.
He then noticed there was a camera symbol next to the man's name. The man's in-game name was Volt, then he remembered what the camera was. It was a sign that the man was live streaming.
"Yo guys~ look who I meet on the first day!" The man was pointing at Shen, especially his name above his head, "It's the famous Runner!"
Shen was quickly realized that the group was targeting him because of his past even though he had not done anything yet in this game.
"What do you want to do?" He questioned the group as they got closer toward him. He did not try to fight back by not taking out his sword.
"What do we want to do?" Volt was smiling at him, "We are going to bring justice to the other players, so they are not going to fall into your trash trap!"
Shen furrowed his brows, "I haven't done anything yet, and I plan to play solo. So leave me alone," he tried to be polite, hoping the group would not bother him.
But Shen was too naive to think that would work. His existence was basically content, especially for a streamer like Volt.
"That's why I am here! I am going to prevent you from ruining the new player's gaming experiences by recording you and keep a check on you, making sure you stay in level 1!" Volt pointed at the camera next to his name, "I will be the generous man who wastes my time for grinding to just watch you, the noob!"
After saying that, Volt talked to his chat again. He was narrating what Runner had done in the Universe Online and how notorious Runner was. The streamer was exaggerating the story, of course. He could not see the chat. However, he could see Volt was smiling to the point almost laughing. It seemed the chat was supporting him for what he did.
He tried to sneak away while Volt was talking to the chat, but the female with a bow shot him in the leg.
-5
The damage in red text popped out above his head. He was taking 5 damage for an arrow in the leg. It was low since he has 100 HP, but he would die if he received nineteen more arrows. He would die faster if they trigger a critical strike too.
Shen without hesitation dash forward. He tried to break the group by tanking some damages. The three people with swords came forward and slashed the sword to his body.
-3 -3 -4
He took 10 damages from the three strikes, but another arrow hit him in the stomach. At the same time, Volt looked aside from the chat and thrust his spear to his chest.
-6 -7
It was fortunate that he set the pain tolerance lower. The pain so real, it was a sting to his chest and leg. He was pushed down by the spear as his chest bleeding. The blood was to make the game so realistic.
[You suffered bleeding! You will lose 1 Hp/five seconds!]
Shen ignored the notification as he immediately stood up again. He tried to run circled the group, but it was futile. The group of six was hell-bent not sparing his life. It next minute, they ganged up on him and he died very soon.
With arrows filled his body, Shen slowly floated up from his avatar. He saw his bloody body that was filled with arrows. The world lost its color as everything turned grey.
Shen was relieved that the death penalty was not reinforced on him. The death penalty would force you to log out from the game for five minutes for your first death of the day.
'Maybe it's because I am still level 1,' Shen thought remorsefully. There was a button "Respawn" in front of him. He tapped that and then, he was teleported back to the original plaza where he spawned early.
"Please don't drop anything" Shen begged as he checked the inventory. If his Inferior Grade sword was dropped, he was doomed for sure. Fortunately, he did not drop anything.
"Hah Sky anticipated such an issue," he was relieved. Then he subconsciously checked his status window too.
"Huh!?" He was shocked by what he saw.
