Chapter 5529 Jiuli Divine Stele
Chapter 5529 Jiuli Divine Stele
“Another Long Zaiye[1]?” Long Chen sneered at the mention of the name.
“Don’t underestimate him just because of his name!” Feng Fei urged urgently, her expression serious.
Long Chen said, “Long Zaiye? The name seems to originate from the phrase ‘battle dragons in the wild’[2]. The battle dragons are a branch of the sovereign dragons, and they are the fiercest warriors and most loyal protectors. There seem to be quite a few people with this name in the Long clan. At least, I know a few.”
Feng Fei sternly said, “This time, you’re mistaken. The Long clan favors that name because of the Long Zaiye I mentioned. They believe naming their children after him might allow them to inherit some of his karmic luck and become someone like him.”
“Oh?”
“A month ago, I went with the Jiang clan’s higher-ups to pay respects to the Long clan, and I happened to catch a glance of Long Zaiye. That single glance almost shattered my Dao-heart and willpower,” Feng Fei said, her voice trembling. “I’ve never encountered such a presence. Just looking at him filled me with despair, as if my martial path crumbled beneath his shadow. He is like an immovable mountain blocking the sun, a suffocating force that crushes your very soul.”
Her hands quivered as she continued, “That was just through a spatial barrier, and his eyes weren’t even open. Even so, that fleeting glimpse nearly destroyed my future.”
Seeing the fear in her eyes, Long Chen was shocked. Feng Fei was no novice; for someone of her caliber to be this terrified spoke volumes about Long Zaiye’s power.
Taking a sip of tea to steady herself, Feng Fei continued, “Long Zaiye is a legendary figure in the Long clan’s history. During the primal chaos era, it’s said he single-handedly killed seventeen nine-star heirs...”
The teacup in Long Chen’s hand shattered, and his gaze turned icy.
Ignoring his reaction, Feng Fei continued. “At that time, nine-star heirs were revered as invincible within the same realms. The fact that he hunted them down one after another shook the entire world. It was during the era when the Nine Star Master had already fallen, and nine-star heirs were being hunted mercilessly. Even then, killing a nine-star heir was a monumental feat that usually required an army. Yet, Long Zaiye could hunt them alone.
“However, due to the primal chaos war, the heavens were badly damaged, and the laws of the world became incomplete. With no path to further advancement, Long Zaiye sealed himself to await a better era. Many of the era’s prodigies chose the same path, preserving their strength until the nine heavens and ten lands could recover. The arrival of this great era has awakened countless monsters of that time, and even Long Zaiye has emerged from his slumber.”
Long Chen wasn’t interested in anything else. However, hearing that Long Zaiye had hunted down nine star heirs made his killing intent soar.
It suddenly became clear to him why his father had gone to the Long clan and released the Jewel Blood Devil without hesitation. His father must have long known that the Long clan would be his mortal enemy, leaving no room for compromise.
“Long Zaiye represents the pinnacle of the Long clan’s heavenly geniuses. While many in the clan bear his name, none can compare to him. Do not confuse them,” Feng Fei warned.
Long Chen nodded solemnly. Anyone capable of solo-hunting nine-star heirs from the primal chaos era was undoubtedly a terrifying foe. Yet, that same act made him an irredeemable enemy for Long Chen.
After awakening, Long Zaiye became the leader of the Long clan, so the entire Long clan was essentially Long Chen’s mortal enemy. Once they saw each other, it would be a battle to the death.
“Many thanks, Feng Fei. I will be careful,” said Long Chen. He would remember this favor.
Feng Fei hesitated for a moment before continuing. “The other reason I came is to tell you about a treasure within the Heaven Vein Mystic Realm—something the four divine clans consider a must-have. It is the Jiuli Divine Stele.”
“The Jiuli Divine Stele? I’ve never heard of it,” replied Long Chen.
“The Jiuli Divine Stele is inscribed with original Jiuli divine runes, and it’s said to be an artifact from beyond the nine heavens. Some said it has been used by the Nine Star Master to create the nine star line. During the primal chaos war, the stele shattered, but a fragment remained within the Heaven Vein Mystic Realm. Rumor has it that the secrets of the nine heavens were carved into it. If someone could decipher it, they would have a chance to become a second Nine Star Master.”
“A second Nine Star Master?!” Long Chen gasped when he heard that.
“Just a rumor,” Feng Fei clarified. “The Nine Star Master supposedly had the complete divine stele, and even if the fragments were reassembled, they would no longer hold the same power. Still, the fragment within the Heaven Vein Mystic Realm bears the original Jiuli immortal characters. Said to originate from beyond the heavens, these characters contain the mysteries of the Heavenly Daos in every stroke.”
After taking a deep breath, Feng Fei continued, “Unfortunately, they cannot be recorded with paper or transmitted from mouth to mouth. It’s said that merely comprehending a single stroke has propelled some geniuses of the four divine clans to unimaginable heights. This is why the four divine clans are mobilizing all their power to claim the Jiuli Divine Stele from the Heaven Vein Mystic Realm.”
“Do you need my help?” asked Long Chen.
Looking at Long Chen, Feng Fei replied, “I’m here to tell you that the target of the four divine clans is the Jiuli Divine Stele. Do your best to avoid them.”
Seeing her concerned look, Long Chen was shaken. It seemed that Long Zaiye had terrified her deeply. Feng Fei didn’t see Long Chen as a match for Long Zaiye and didn’t want to see him die.
Long Chen was moved. This time, Feng Fei had come without ulterior motives. She just wanted him to live and was not thinking about obtaining anything from him.
In the past, most of their interactions had been driven by personal ambitions. Feng Fei had always viewed Long Chen’s potential as an investment worth nurturing.
But this time was different. After witnessing the might of Long Zaiye, she no longer held the same confidence in Long Chen’s ability. Yet, despite her fears, she couldn’t bring herself to watch him march toward certain death like a sacrificial pawn. She had risked her own life to come bring him this information.
“Fairy Feng Fei, I will remember this favor,” promised Long Chen sincerely.
Feng Fei smiled. “I’m not doing this for a favor. I just hope you survive. Well, I have to get back now. Take care of yourself, alright?”
No matter how Long Chen tried to persuade her to stay, Feng Fei insisted on leaving immediately. Hence, Tang Wan-er and Long Chen personally escorted her out.
As Long Chen watched her depart, his expression hardened.
“Long Zaiye, is it? Just you wait!”
