Chapter 55: Gate
Chapter 55: Gate
---Volume 2 Everyone! I do need your help with something readers, I have been thinking for the past days if I should make her an adult(physically wise), I have thought of a way to incorporate this but am curious as to what you readers think of this.---
As the trio neared the wall, they saw a large gate letting people and carriages through. As Thea was looking at the gate, she noticed there were 4 different queues to enter, some shorter and some really long.
"What are the different lines for Miss Uhhm I'm sorry, I don't think I know your name?" Mia asked, seemingly embarrassed she didn't know the name of one of her saviors, even after all this time together with them.
As Thea had always called Lily as 'mommy', Lily realized she hadn't given her name yet, and as she had used this appearance as her second identity in the past already, she had a full second identity, including a name of course.
"Fufu, I guess you are correct. Call me Zyla for now." Lily said with a wink.
Although Thea understood half of what Lily said with that last sentence, Mia just nodded, no matter how confused she was.
Lily saw Mia's confused expression and giggled before she answered her original question.
"You see, the City of Fradon, the city where we are now. I'm saying this because Althea won't know." Lily said with a smile while looking at Thea and walking towards one of the shorter lines.
Thea nodded, unembarrassed to admit she had little knowledge about the city, and Lily continued.
"This city has four entrances, at the north, east, south and west, we are currently at the west entrance. All four entrances have four entry queues, one for commoners and farmers, the second for adventurers, the third for merchants and last but not least the fourth for nobles. Going from left to right respectively." Lily explained.
Thea and Mia nodded, understanding the explanation given by Lily but then froze when they realized something.
"Mommy, then why are we heading to the line for nobles?" Thea asked, Lily was a noble but now her appearance was different so she shouldn't be able to enter that way.
"Well because it's the shortest of course." Lily replied, in a way that made it seem as if she was asked something silly just now.
Mia, who was next to Thea, both walking behind Lily looked at Thea, confusion, worry and anxiousness covering her expression.
Thea sighed noticing how stressed Mia was becoming and that Lily didn't understand Thea's question, she walked close to Lily and whispered "Mommy, currently you don't look like the real you, you aren't a noble anymore, right?" into her ear.
Lily stopped and looked behind at Mia and Thea, who was walking next to Mia again and realized how stupid she just was.
"Hahahah, how silly of me. As I am now a noble, an adventurer and a merchant, we can go through all entrances. Wait till we get home, I'll explain there." Lily said with a grin.
As the trio had been walking to the entrance while Lily had explained everything, they were now practically at the gate. The que had gone down and now there was just one carriage in front of them. As Thea watched the guardsmen ask some simple questions before letting them pass.
As the carriage entered the city, the trio walked up to the gate. There were 4 guardsmen protecting each side of the gate, as Lily, Thea and Mia walked up, the guard that had questioned the carriage before looked at the group with an annoyed expression.
"THIS IS A LINE FOR NOBLES ONLY." The guard said with a loud voice, not quite shouting but enough for the people from all the different ques to turn and look.
'What gives?' Thea thought, before she realized what the group was currently wearing. Adventuring clothes and Mia almost in rags.
Thea looked up at Lily to see how she would handle the situation, and unexpected to her she remained perfectly calm. She reached into a bag she had kept by her waist, almost a fanny pack, and pulled out a large golden coin with special, glowing engravings on it. The aggravated guard stiffened at the sight of the coin, turning pale and sweating profusely.
"Name." Lily asked in a demanding tone, still looking perfectly calm.
"B-Bren, Ma-am" The guard Bren answered meekly, not daring to look Lily in the eyes.
"Can we pass?" Lily asked, seemingly inpatient.
"O-of c-c-course." The guard called Bren answered with his head lowered.
Lily huffed while looking at the guard and called out to the girls following her, "Follow me girls."
Both Mia and Thea looked confused at each other but simply shrugged and followed Lily into the city.
