Chapter 78: Having A Nice Bet
Chapter 78: Having A Nice Bet
"Let's attack first so all of them would know how hard this place is."
She then led the way, alongside the army of NPCs, and the army of Oya's skeletons. It was her first time fighting an elite monster and turning it into one of her skeletons, making her wonder if she would be able to summon a special form of skeletons.
The moment this mixed force stepped on the fiery hot grounds, the monsters around them all were alerted, looked towards them with vigilance, before they all roared and started to move in huge numbers towards them.
These monsters were huge, with bodies resembling giants, some had one head, and others had two heads. Their bodies were formed from fiery rocks, with thin deep red lines flashing from time to time with bright light red light running along their dark red bodies.
Oya was sure her new skeletons would be really on a whole level from the basic skeletons she usually summoned after killing monsters. The fight started intensely from the beginning, and soon she and everyone of her friends around her noticed the weakness of these monsters.
"They are quite slow in their movement and reactions," Salsola muttered, as this was an obvious remark everyone had noticed like her.
"We should use some skills then and help them," Roka said, as she started using her skills, with others trying to help.
The waves of attack just started to get intensified with each passing minute, as more monsters were born from the depth of this river, making them all feel this wasn't a river, but an endless bottomless lava pit!
As the first monsters fell, Oya didn't hesitate to summon skeletons out from their dead bodies. The summoned skeletons had strange bones, not white like others, but dark red in color, with some bright red lines running along them!
They were giant as the monsters they were summoned from, and their movements were still sluggish and slow, but they formed a great defensive wall against the incoming monsters.
"What a shame I didn't have them when I entered that death energy cloud!" she muttered to herself, feeling some regret as these skeletons would have grown to become very terrifying high end skeletons no doubt.
She stood her place, not needing to act while all her skeletons took the toll of the attacking monsters. Behind them, the NPCs army started to kill the monsters at a faster pace, helped by the growing skeletons coming from the dead bodies of these monsters.
The more they fell, the more skeletons Oya would summon. She also noticed that inside this environment, her skeletons weren't acting normally, as if the heat and fire environment here had its toll over them.
However her newly summoned skeletons didn't have this disadvantage, acting freely as they attacked the monsters equally, without any restraints.
After one hour of fighting, they finally managed to move for a distance to the front, while her friends kept gathering materials from here. the place was full of treasures, and they would never let this chance slip by their hands.
She continued to add more skeletons to the front lines, while the more she added, the wider the battlefield became. These lava monsters just kept popping up from every corner in this place, making her and others feel they were like magnets, attracting these monsters without an end!
Without her army of skeletons, this fight would have been a very stressful one over the NPCs, even if their levels were much higher than these monsters, but the great number disparity made their side weaker without doubt.
After the fifth hour, they finally managed to reach one of the two banks of the river. The moment they reached there, they all noticed the great number of fire natured materials around the two banks, making these players drool for these materials.
However they weren't insane to go down there and grab them, as the monsters coming from this river were increasing in numbers, not showing any signs of stopping.
"We need to descend there and fight the lord of them, once the lord is defeated, this part will go calm, and the number of monsters will drastically decrease," Oya's master instructed, as she pointed towards the bottom of this river.
Her words, and the direction she pointed at made the players excited, as they would have to cross the heavily concentrated treasure area, and they intend to grab everything there.
"Let's go down there then," Oya casually replied, as the current number of her skeletons was increased by roughly a thousand more of these special monsters.
"Leave some skeletons here to defend us, as it would be dangerous if we were cornered while attacking that lord," her master instructed, as she knew how hard to kill such a lord would be.
Oya did as her master instructed her to do, as she left hundreds of skeletons supported with a hundred newly summoned giant lava skeletons. She then went downward, heading with everyone towards the river.
The sides of the river bank were descending obliquely, with wide large places for them to walk at. Along the way, many monsters faced them, and all of them were killed by their combined efforts.
The fallen monsters were transformed into skeletons by Oya, adding more to her already great army. right now they were facing hundreds of monsters coming at them from everywhere but the top, and after summoning skeletons out of them, she hurriedly sent part to the top, as she felt the battle up there might be much more difficult than the ones they were facing right now.
Besides, as one side was completely secured, they could now attack with less pressure, with much ease. Losing that advantage would be a shame, though, so she used many skeletons to support the back frontier, hoping they could be able to hold on.
As she feared, the battle up there was already intense, and if not for her constant reinforcements to the top, the battle would have been already lost. Many of the skeletons kept being killed in batches, but she kept sending more skeletons, making the line to hold.
As for their experience, it kept soaring with every hundred monsters killed, as they leveled up one level every ten minutes, a very monstrous speed.
When they broke through level fifty, their speed of leveling up decreased by a huge chunk, making them take a couple of hours to raise just one level. that was because Xp needed for levels above fifty was really insane, and killing all these monsters wouldn't be enough to fill the Xp liter up.
After four hours of constant fighting, they reached a place that was wide enough to enable them to attack the lord monster without any worries. The moment they reached there, Oya's master turned around and explained what was going to happen here.
"We are now going to face a lord's monster, which is formed by the merger of a thousand monster together, supported by the lava river. This monster would be really tough to handle, so weaker players should stay far and not interfere unless you have any water or ice based skills."
Her words explained exactly how terrifying that monster would be, as they would face a combined one thousand monsters at the same time, which was something scary.
Every player of Oya's friend just retreated, leaving the area for Oya's skeletons and her allied NPCs to act. Even Oya herself retreated, despite having level fifty six right now, she wasn't that confident about facing such a monster.
As Ela and her master and other NPCs watched her retreat to a safe distance, they started acting. All they needed to do was to kill a monster inside the river.
Once they did that, the whole river shook, as a strong vibration started to erupt, with many waves going berserk on the river surface, making its shape really intimidating.
The next few moments were really scary, as part of the river started to go up, like a giant pillar standing from the ground. Its length was really high, exceeding fifty meters in length, making its top approximately reaching the ceiling of this place.
That part of the lava river had leaves falling alongside it, like water, but in big size droplets that looked really terrifying.
"Is this the monster we are supposed to kill?" Avada muttered in disbelief, as he didn't imagine, like everyone else, that this monster would be so horrifying.
"Don't worry, we can do it," Ela shouted from the front, as if she wasn't feeling already intimidated by this monster.
The pillar of lava didn't stop transforming here, as suddenly its long cylindrical body started to take a broader shape, while decreasing gradually in size. It was getting shorter, broader, with many arms, thick burning ones, were taking shape here.
It didn't exceed five minutes before a full monster, reaching thirty meters in length, to appear in front of them.
