Chapter 54: The Next Mission
Chapter 54: The Next Mission
This way, she could maintain a portion of them, and they kept evolving on the way. So, she now had two fronts to deal with, two big battles, one with the elite monster, and the other with other apes.
Anytime she had an advanced skeleton, she didn't hesitate to throw it to the elite monster, which was now unstoppable, dealing more damage than it received once its HP declined lower than twenty five percent.
"A berserk state, huh!"
She muttered, while shaking her head. She knew this was a common thing for monsters, but she didn't need such a skill to be presented now. her initial army lost two thirds of it, with the eleven initial special skeletons now having only five of them. As for the newly summoned skeletons, they were doing pretty good at dealing with normal monsters, pretty bad when dealing with the elite one.
"Just a bit more," she muttered, trying to encourage herself, as the elite monster only had less than ten percent of its HP now.
Just as she was trying to survive longer, the elite monster berserk started to show some weakness, as its move became slower, its attacks were now weaker, and the damage it took doubled.
"A weakened state it's a weakened state, yeah!"
She shouted in triumph as if she had already killed it. the monster was now in a weakening state after the berserk, which meant the berserk time was over, and now it was her time.
"Attack the elite monster, all of you attack!"
She hurriedly ordered every skeleton to leave other monsters and hit the elite one. There was less than eight hundred Hp now, and if this monster was killed, this swarm of other monsters attacking them would stop.
The skeletons followed the order, as they ran towards the elite ape and started attacking it. The ape started to lose blood at a very frightening speed, and without knowing it, its HP finally hit the bottom.
"Yeah! We did it! I did it!"
This was the first elite monster she would take down alone, and she knew it wouldn't be the last. The monster fell on the ground, but the surrounding monsters didn't retreat as she thought.
"Pretty persistent, huh!" she muttered, before waving her staff towards the group of a hundred apes around here:
"Go and feast on their flesh, kill them all!"
The skeletons executed the order as once, and even some of them started to bite on the monsters like locusts. She watched this scene with numb skull, she didn't mean it literally like this, but she was dealing with dumb soldiers here, who would do anything she ordered them, without even thinking.
"They won't turn into cannibals, right?" she helplessly sighed, as she joined the battle as well, knowing this was already over, and this was already her victory here.
"It's a battle of attrition, let's see who will win it at the end," she muttered as she moved couple of steps back, while waving her staff towards the monster and muttering:
"Thorn of darkness front attackers retreat, distant attackers keep hitting this monster."
She kept using her thorn of darkness once its cooldown was reset, and she used this opportunity to retreat. Her skeletons were like a sea of bones, surrounding that monster and attacking it. however, the monster had a huge sword in hand, and each wave of it, one skeleton would fall, either destroyed completely or severely wounded.
From time to time, that monster might summon a long thorn that could attack distant enemies like Oya and her annoying archers. After five minutes of fighting, that monster lost half of its HP, and she lost half of her army, losing three special skeletons, two swordsmen and one archer.
That was a pained loss for her, but she had no other option here. if she died, she was sure to lose all these skeletons, and start over. She took the task of killing this monster as personal vendetta, at least when she killed it, she might summon a stronger skeleton, or even an advanced one.
She didn't lose her concentration along the way, but when the monster HP declined from the fifty percent mark, another problem emerged, as it started calling other ape monsters around her, and that put her in a more dangerous situation.
She had to divert part of her army to stand against these new monsters, and she started aiding her skeletons from the side. She made her thorn of darkness for the monster, and the arrows for the other apes, and with this danger, another opportunity came.
"Death arises."
She could now use this skill to summon more skeletons to attack the elite monster, or the other apes. When she directed these newly summoned skeletons to the elite monster, they just kept dying like eggs hitting a rock, so she made them attack other apes.
This way, she could maintain a portion of them, and they kept evolving on the way. So, she now had two fronts to deal with, two big battles, one with the elite monster, and the other with other apes.

Once the battle concluded finally, with her victory, she got some time to check the series of notifications she received during the fight. Most of them were related to the death of the monsters on the hands of her skeletons, and one was telling her about leveling up, and one was about killing that elite monster.
"Nothing special, huh!" she murmured, as she thought she might get anything special. As she was dejected, the system came to give her some good news:
'On regard to the strong battle you just won, you have the right to choose thirty skeletons to upgrade to special skeletons, and one skeleton to be advanced into a unique skeleton.'
She opened her eyes wide, as she muttered:
'What about this elite monster?'
'It can be transformed into a unique skeleton,' the system said.
'What are unique skeletons?'
'A highly ranked skeletons, including some of the top skeletons, including liches and death knights,' the system said.
Her eyes shone brighter and brighter, as she felt her system was much fairer to her than the game.
'Thanks a lot system sama, I will choose them now.'
She hurriedly chose thirty skeletons, and the one which was transformed earlier into a special skeleton was selected to be the unique skeleton.
In a few minutes, thirty special skeletons stood in front of her, with different weapons and professions. As for her ace skeleton, he moved with his new heavy shield and armor, with his long lance, stepping very heavily on the ground, yet his moves weren't that sluggish or slow. Now she had two unique skeletons, two with the same outfit and lances, standing side by side, like two small hills.
