Chapter 51: Gaining Access to the first Necromancer Skill: Death Arise Skill
Chapter 51: Gaining Access to the first Necromancer Skill: Death Arise Skill
She passed through the doors of the city main gate, and found the wilderness waiting for her. The cities here were surrounded by wilderness directly, where monsters of certain levels might gather at specific places, but that didn't mean it was always safe.
Sometimes a lone higher level monster might lurk in the tall grass, waiting for a prey to hunt.
She left the safe city and entered the wilderness, to be welcomed by the level ten monster, the red ape monster.
'Red ape monster: Level 10 monster. HP:1200.'
"That seems nice, let's start with this one," she said to herself, as she opened her profile and scanned the list of skills she had, before deciding to use one skill over this ape.
Oya chose a moderate offensive skill she had, called the thorns of darkness.
'Thorns of darkness: active skill. it creates a long vine full of thorns, made of darkness, attacks the opponent for three seconds, rendering it motionless for two seconds, with constant damage as long as it is surrounded by the vines. CD: 5 seconds.'
"This is a nice skill to start with, Thorns of darkness," she muttered as she got slightly near the monster. at once, a long vine full of thorns appeared, surrounding the monster, making it unable to move.
She didn't stop here, as she used her basic attack skill.
'Arrows of darkness: active skill. it creates three arrows of darkness, attacking the opponent from three different angles. Cd: 1 second.'
This was her best simple, and basic skill she loved to use recently. She didn't delay and muttered:
'Arrows of darkness.'
At once, three arrows appeared out of nowhere, and attacked the monster, causing the line of damage it received to be longer.
'45-75-20-74-65-50-20-43-75-20-54-65-75'
A long line of damage appeared, as she continued to use her skill repeatedly. The only shortcoming of it was her MANA would rapidly depleted, but she was sure the monster would fall before her MANA dried up.
"System notification: level ten monster is killed. You gained two hundred XP."
Just as she was about to get some rest, another sound echoed in her mind.
'Conditions to learn the first necromancer skill is met.'
'Death Arise 'skill is now learnt, and you can use it to summon a skeleton from monsters you kill. Summoned skeletons will follow you until they are destroyed.'
The system suddenly said, startled her. She didn't imagine to learn such a skill so fast, and hurriedly she raised her staff as she muttered:
"Death arises."
She pointed the staff towards the monster she just killed. Strangely, a skeleton appeared from the carcass of it. it was like that ape in the general shape and the posture it took. Oya looked in satisfaction, and nodded. She wasn't now fighting alone, but she would be amassing her skeleton army along the way.
So she didn't need to rest anymore. Though the ape she summoned didn't have any weapons, she had in her inventory a level five sword she picked up from a monster she once killed. She took it out and tossed it towards the skeleton as she said:
"Wield it, as we are going to have more fights."
The skeleton looked at the sword, before it lifted it. she noticed it wasn't using it easily, and that made her sigh. This was supposed to be a skeleton of level ten monster, how could it be this difficult to handle level five sword?
She then took another sword, level three sword, and threw it towards the ape. "Just use this, ok," she said, as she watched the ape take the second sword in the other hand, ending up holding the two swords together.
She sighed again, and this time she was tired of correcting it, so she moved forward, towards the next ape monster.
She didn't put in her mind the use of this skeleton, as it looked clumsy already, walking in a strange way with the two swords in hand.
She then faced the ape monster before the arrival of her skeleton, burdened by the weapons in hands. she then used her vine skill, followed by the arrow skill, and as she was using this tactic while watching the line of damage, a big number suddenly popped up and that made her stop what she was doing.
'45-65-20-75-30-750-800'
She looked at the one causing this much inhuman damage, and strangely it was that weak looking skeleton. Each strike of it, it nearly took away half of that ape HP, and with the second strike landing on it, the ape monster was killed already, yet the skeleton kept waving the two swords in hand, attacking the air.
"Stop, it's dead already," she said, as the surprise she received was turned instantly into anger towards that skeleton.
'Your summoned skeletons killed its first monster, and it leveled up one small grade.'
The system suddenly said, making her eyes widened, as she observed the skeleton standing in front of her being bathed in a green black light, with its stature getting uplifted a little. It wasn't burdened anymore by the two swords in hand, as it stood up straight like it was holding nothing.
Oya didn't think her summoned skeletons were able to be leveled up, and knowing that made her entire plan change. She hurriedly used the death arise skill on that already dead monster, and she had another skeleton following her. This time, she took one level five sword and gave to it.
The issue of weapons was now emerging like a headache to her. She had a quite suitable amount for arming twenty skeletons or something, but what about after reaching that number? She felt this skill was like an endless abyss, the more followers you had, the more money you would spend.
However, she was greatly satisfied by their performance. At the fourth battle, one of her skeletons, summoned at last battle, received a strong hit from the ape monster a couple of times, and it ended up being destroyed.
She learnt that not all the skeletons would evolve and continue the journey with her, and that made her quite relieved.
To deal with one ape monster, she could use three skeletons, or one already up skeleton like the first skeleton she summoned. Although it didn't rise up again, she felt it was getting quite stronger after each battle.
"Let's see if I can handle a group then."
When she finished the eighth battle, she decided to go on a wider form of fight, as this was quite slow. She now had seven skeletons following her, with six being upgraded already, and one fresh skeleton.
So, she did the math, and found that she could handle up to seven monsters at the same time. That was quite the number, but she decided to attack five at the beginning, then increase the number later.
She chose a nearby group of apes as she said to her skeletons:
"Go and kill them for me."
She didn't do anything but watch the skeletons attacking the group of five apes. The rows of damage indicated how strong they were, as just two strikes were enough to kill one monster.
That was insane, and the five monsters fell on the ground, leaving some coins behind, and finally a level ten sword.
"You, come here, leave the two swords for others, and hold this level ten sword," she said towards the first skeleton she summoned, who came and did exactly as she asked.
She now had more confidence in her skeletons, so she released them, like locusts, with the older skeletons in the front, and the newly recruited one in the back.
Just as one hour passed, she managed to kill the whole lot of one hundred monsters needed by her quest, in addition to that, her XP bar was filled with a handsome amount of XP.
'You have finished the quest so fast,' the system commended, before adding, 'as a reward for your good performance, you have the chance to upgrade one of the skeletons you have to be a specialized type skeleton,' the system added.
'Specialized type of skeleton?' she asked, 'what does this mean?'
'It means they will be either sword skeleton, archer skeleton, pike skeleton, and so on. the one chosen by you will be provided with full armor and equipment from the system. Which one do you choose?' the system asked.
'There is a question in mind,' Oya said, 'if I wanted to go back to the city, will they have to follow me there? they might be prevented from entering the city,' she said, as this was the point that bothered her.
