Chapter 17: Summoning An ancient Human Soul - Part 1

'I'm ready.'

This was the magic word Ibro was waiting for. He closed his eyes and cleared his mind, he knew deep down his soul he was gambling, however he wasn't that worried. Sometimes all you had to do was just to risk it all, as win always favored the bold.

Ibro opened his eyes and glanced over the vortex he was hitting, it was still expanding, and the face of that fiend showed a determination, and Ibro too showed the same kind of face as he muttered:

"Gredatos maximos."

It was as if an electric current was suddenly injected in his body, as each inch of his body started to convulse. Ibro felt like there was a huge sponge that absorbed all his energy like it was nothing. He was drying up of energy, his body ached and convulsed, and if he continued like this he would die.

The spell he used didn't stop draining his energy from him, pushing him over the cliff downward straight towards the abyss. Ibro gritted his teeth as he muttered with great difficulty and pain:

'Supply me with all the energy you have.'

''

The system didn't reply, as it began to inject the energy inside Ibro's meridians and Soul Sea even before Ibro asked for it. The issue was the energy injected from the system didn't show any progress at all, it was totally absorbed like it was nothing.

'The supply rate isn't enough, you need to help me here.'

The system suddenly yelled inside his mind with its harsh voice. It was very annoying doing so, but Ibro didn't feel like that, all he felt was extreme pain and weakness from his lack of energy.

'M-move me to the g-gate.'

Ibro struggled to just say these words. The system understood his meaning so it teleported him at once away from the fiend whose face didn't show any excitement, instead there was only horror.

The fiend was shocked at first, but now he was trying to think of a way to escape. Its route to escape was that huge vortex, however right in front of its eyes Ibro disappeared and reappeared just next to the vortex.

Ibro couldn't even hold his body straight, he barely held his consciousness and tried by all his will power not to snap out. So, his body fell, directly over the vortex as his body was shrouded by the flighty energy of the demon clan.

However that wasn't a curse, but a blessing. Once his body touched the vortex, the system started to absorb the energy from this vortex without holding back. At the same time, it began to open Ibro's pores so he could absorb that energy as well.

After all, any energy absorbed would vanish like a drop of water falling over a scorching hot desert. There was no current danger over Ibro's life from this energy, the only danger now came from this spell.

Once Ibro's body drowned into that immensely huge vortex, a shock wave occurred inside the vortex as if an explosion occurred on a scale big enough to stop it from running.

Another vortex emerged, so small that was hardly noticed, but it began to expand. The huge teleportation vortex ceased working, and its immense energy started to be drawn under the system guidance towards the smaller vortex.

Everything began to stabilize, the depleted energy inside Ibro's body began to sprout again, creating fresh energy that started to circulate all over his body. Ibro's fuzzy mind started to get clearer every passing second. Everything was getting better, and that vortex he summoned was getting bigger.

'Hurry, use the altar.'

The system voice echoed clearly inside his mind, at the same moment he felt something tiny inside his hand. He looked at it and he found a miniature version of Ren's altar lying inside his hand.

He recalled what the fiend did, all he needed was just to let that altar go and it will fall over the vortex. Just as he was going to do so, an instinct inside him suddenly was triggered, and an alarm of bad omen rang in his mind.

Somehow, Ibro recalled at this moment the very words Randor told him, this altar was very dangerous, and at this specific critical moment Ibro's mind began to wonder: why?

This was clearly Ren's altar, it looked exactly the same. Ibro suddenly felt weird, as when he sent for Randor, he had this gut feeling that this would be risky, but he didn't notice that until now.

Why did he feel like this and it turned out to be true? That was a question that drove many thoughts inside him. although he didn't get answers, he knew his inner feeling was always right. Using this altar was an equal result to death.

But he couldn't complete the spell without using the altar, so he needed to figure something out in these few seconds or else he would die either way.

His mind began to recall everything about Ren's altar and Ren himself. everything started with a sudden discovery of the weakening effects on demons at some places. Ibro began to recall the main pieces of information he knew about Ren and his altar, until he found it.

'This is the altar, but he didn't have the complete soul of Ren, it had only a fragment of it.'

He nearly shouted it out except he was still exhausted to do so. His mind found the missing piece, this altar wasn't complete, and to complete it, Ibro needed to collect Ren's soul fragments, which he did before.

Everything finally made sense, and these soul shards were safely stored inside one of his rings. Ibro didn't risk taking the shards out here, as they might be affected by this spell, so he moved this miniature altar inside his storage ring which contained all Ren's soul shards, and he then waited for the magic to happen.
