Chapter 300: Gu Zhaoyan
Chapter 300: Gu Zhaoyan
Shi Xuan gestured for Yao Ran to take a seat and explained, "Press this button before speaking. When it turns green, the mic is on. When it turns red, the mic is off."
Yao Ran nodded and then pressed the button. When the light turned green, she addressed them with the title she was familiar with.
There was a hint of relief in her tone when she said, "Assistant He, Lawyer Li."
Her voice echoed outside, startling He Yufan and Li Chengjun. After a few seconds, He Yufan hesitated before cautiously asking, "Eldest Young Lady?"
Yao Ran smiled as she watched their astonished expressions on the screen and replied, "Long time no see, Assistant He."
As soon as He Yufan and Li Chengjun heard her voice, they couldn't believe their ears. They looked around but couldn't locate the surveillance cameras.
After a few moments, He Yufan looked up and asked, "Eldest Young Lady, how have you been? Lawyer Li and I have been searching for you since the typhoon hit, but we couldn't find you."
Yao Ran studied them, carefully observing every slight change of expression on their faces. Seeing the sincerity in their eyes, she calmly replied, "I left Haicheng City the day we separated."
She glanced around the group but didn't see He Yufan's family.
"Assistant He, where is your family? Didn't you tell me that you were going back to your hometown to find them?" she asked after a moment of silence.
He Yufan's expression darkened at her question. Sensing the change in his mood, Li Chengjun interjected, "Eldest Young Lady, let's discuss this later."
Understanding they didn't want to speak about it in front of the others, Yao Ran nodded, "Alright. Assistant He, Lawyer Li, please wait a moment."
After saying that, she turned to Long Yu and Shi Xuan and asked, "A Yu, Shi Xuan, can I bring them inside? I need to ask them something."
Long Yu would never reject her request and nodded, "Mhm."
With his permission, Yao Ran faced the screen again and said, "Assistant He, Lawyer Li, I will bring you both in."
As her words echoed outside, the other survivors' faces lit up with hope. Yao Ran noticed but chose to ignore them.
Before she left, Long Yu said, "Ran Ran, I will go with you."
"Alright." She replied.
After leaving the control room, Yao Ran and Long Yu went to get their weapons before going to the main entrance.
Huang Qian, who had just returned after inspecting the shelter, saw them walk past the main hall and asked, "Captain, Yao Ran, where are you guys going?"
When Long Yu heard this, he paused and said, "We are going out to pick someone up. Have you found anything?"
Huang Qian shook his head, "No. I think the alarm went off earlier due to external interference rather than a system or electrical malfunction."n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
Long Yu nodded, "Mhm. The alarm might have gone off as a group of survivors attempted to
pry open the main entrance. Ran Ran and I are going to talk to them now."
Listening to Long Yu's explanation, Huang Qian's eyes flickered briefly.
"Captain, I will go with you." He offered.
Long Yu thought for a second and said, "Let's go."
After that, the three of them then went to the main entrance. Ten minutes later, Huang Qian pressed the button on the wall and opened the metal door.
When the door finally opened, the survivors outside stepped back, staring at it with various expressions on their faces.
As Yao Ran stepped out, He Yufan and Li Chengjun saw her and hurriedly approached her.
Standing before the door, Yao Ran saw them and said, "Long time no see, Assistant He, Lawyer Li."
He Yufan's eyes reddened slightly when he saw her. Taking a step closer, he said in a hoarse voice, "Eldest Young Lady, how have you been?"
"I have been doing well. What about you two?" Yao Ran asked calmly.
Li Chengjun smiled and replied, "Thanks to Yufan's arrival, I managed to stay alive when the typhoon hit Haicheng City."
Thinking about the 300 million yuan she gave to He Yufan, Yao Ran felt relieved that he understood her hints and the hidden meaning inside her words.
Noticing how thin and sickly they looked, Yao Ran said, "Assistant He, Lawyer Li, please come in."
They nodded and followed her. However, as the other survivors saw this, their expressions brightened, and they hurriedly tried to follow.
Before they could get closer, Huang Qian blocked their path and said coldly, "Step back, or I will kill you."
Frightened by his menacing tone, the survivors instinctively retreated. With Huang Qian standing guard, Yao Ran and Long Yu led He Yufan and Li Chengjun inside.
He Yufan hesitated briefly after passing the metal door, then glanced back at the man who had knocked on the door earlier. After hesitating for a moment, he quickly caught up to Yao Ran.
"Eldest Young Lady, please wait for a moment." He called.
Yao Ran paused and turned to him. She asked, "What's wrong?"
Lowering his voice, He Yufan asked, "Eldest Young Lady, can we bring one more person with us?"
Yao Ran raised an eyebrow and calmly asked, "Who?"
"The CEO of the Gu Group and the patriarch of the Gu family, Gu Zhaoyan." He replied.
When she heard what he said, Yao Ran's curiosity was piqued. She scanned the group of survivors for a moment and asked again, "Which one is CEO Gu?"
He Yufan discreetly pointed at the man who had knocked on the door and explained, "The one who knocked earlier."
Yao Ran followed his line of sight and carefully observed the middle-aged man. Despite his tattered clothes and worn appearance, he still retained a dignified aura and looked handsome.
Clicking her tongue, she remarked, "CEO Gu is just as handsome as the rumors say."
Standing beside her, Long Yu glanced at her briefly before looking at Gu Zhaoyan. He had heard of Gu Zhaoyan in his previous life.
