Chapter 165: I Will Not Abandon You!
Cement blown away by the explosion scratched Long Yu's forehead, and the frozen blood stuck to his skin. Seeing how seriously injured he was, Yao Ran quickly supported him.
There was no time to deal with his wound, so she covered him with a constant-temperature cloth to prevent his wound from freezing even further and asked, "Long Yu, can you hear me?"n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
Long Yu groaned and moved away from her to prevent his weight from crushing her. After regaining some strength, he looked at her and asked, "Are you alright, Ran Ran?"
Yao Ran looked at him with worry and replied, "I'm fine, but you are injured. We need to find a safe place to treat your wound as soon as possible before the frostbite worsens."
As soon as she finished speaking, she heard the sound of snowmobiles approaching. After a few seconds, she heard the sound of snow crushed under the soles of shoes. There should be at least a dozen people outside.
"Search around!"
"Yes, Captain!"
Hearing this, Yao Ran quickly stood up, supported Long Yu, and said, "They are here. We must leave now."
Long Yu also heard the sound of people coming from outside and nodded. Because Long Yu was injured and Yao Ran needed to support him, they couldn't run fast.
Realizing that they could not escape their pursuers at their current speed, Yao Ran quickly scanned the surroundings. Her eyes lit up when she saw an office building in the distance.
Enduring the pain in her back, Yao Ran half-dragged Long Yu, slipped out, and whispered, "Hang on."
Long Yu lost too much blood, and his wounds had frozen, making his whole body itchy and painful and his mind dizzy.
Sensing the worry in Yao Ran's voice, he weakly said, "I'm fine. Don't worry. We will be fine."
Yao Ran heard his words and tightened her arm around his waist. After sneaking out of the building, she supported Long Yu and walked to another office building. Just when she thought they could get into the office building undetected, someone spotted them from the distance.
"There they are!"
When Yao Ran heard this, her heart skipped a beat. As she turned around, she saw those people running out of the office building one after another. Each man was armed with a gun, and two of them were even armed with Gatling guns.
They were outnumbered, and the enemy was heavily armed. Even at their peak condition, it would be difficult for her and Long Yu to fight these people, not to mention both of them were injured now.
While she was analyzing the situation, Long Yu was scanning the surroundings.
After they went into the office building, Yao Ran looked around and saw a warehouse on the right. She gritted her teeth and quickly supported Long Yu into the warehouse. As soon as the door closed, she collapsed on the dirty floor, gasping from exhaustion.
Before she could calm down her heartbeats, she heard Long Yu's weak voice.
"There was a window on the side. You can go out from there and run back to find Shi Xuan and the others. Once you are outside, continue running east. Hide until daybreak before returning to the Ling Yuan apartment complex."
Hearing his words, Yao Ran was stunned. She clenched her hands tightly and glared at him, "I will not leave you alone. There must be a way for us to survive tonight."
Long Yu raised his hand toward her, but his movement pulled the wound on his back, and he groaned from the pain. He gasped as cold sweat dripped down his forehead and then froze in the next second.
He smiled at Yao Ran, gently wiped the dirt from her cheek, and softly said, "You can't run away while supporting me. Ran Ran, be obedient. Leave me and save yourself. You promised me you wouldn't die before me. So, run as fast as you can and survive."
Yao Ran's eyes turned red when she saw the gentle look in his eyes. She shook her head and refused to listen. "Shut up! I will not abandon you!"
Before Long Yu could persuade her, he heard footsteps getting closer and closer.
The pursuers are coming!
Seeing that they were trapped, Long Yu quickly made a decision. All those pursuers had to do was open the door, and both of them would be shot to death. Instead of dying with her, he chose to save her life.
Long Yu gathered his remaining strength and stood up, holding the wall as support. Then, he pulled Yao Ran up and forcibly dragged her to the broken window.
Yao Ran was exhausted, but she knew they needed to leave now. Just as she was about to help Long Yu climb out of the window, Long Yu said, "Run quickly and don't look back. I will buy some time for you."
Realizing what he wanted to do, Yao Ran stubbornly shook her head. She grabbed his arm tightly and refused to let go.
She glared at him with red eyes and said, "No! We have to leave together!"
Long Yu was so anxious and knew that they didn't have much time. He looked at her pleadingly and said, "Ran Ran, hurry up!"
A second later, a man's voice came from behind the closed door, "There is someone inside! Break the door!"
When Long Yu heard this, he directly lifted Yao Ran up and pushed her out of the window.
"I beg you! Go!"
As soon as his words fell, someone kicked the door.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
At that moment, Yao Ran's reaction was faster than her brain. Before the door was fully opened, she and Long Yu disappeared from the warehouse.
Crash!
In the next second, the door was broken, and countless bullets rained into the room.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The pursuers fired for a minute before stopping. Seeing that no one was there, the leader quickly walked to the window to check.
Seeing the footprints in the snow, he cursed and gave an order, "They ran away! Chase!"
