Chapter 75 - 75. Slimy Man Appears
All of a sudden the door opened and a ninja ran in, he shouted, "LORD KAZEKAGE IS BACK!"
Chiyo got up in excitement and shock. This was a welcome surprise to the already depressed citizens of the village.
But, then she remembered Shiroken. Her heart became sad realising a conflict was soon going to arise. Chiyo knew that the Kazekage was a man who would rather fight than surrender and live in peace.
She feared he'd kill Shiroken and that would be the end of the food supply, as well as a war with the Dama Country might start.
"Lord Nobunaga, please... It would be better if you hid somewhere, I will try to make the Kazekage understand the situation first. I'm afraid otherwise he will try to kill you in anger." She requested.
Shiroken stopped himself from laughing. If even a lowly Kage could beat him at this point he'd be ashamed to even breathe. ~Wait... I don't breathe anyway.~
"Don't worry about me, Lady Chiyo. Go and bring your Kazekage to me, I will have some tea with him. If the desert heat is too much for him I can also get him some ice tea. Tea is the speciality of the Dama Country, along with the Dumplings, of course." Shiroken proudly said.
~Is he a salesman of Dama Country?~ Chiyo thought in her heart and left the office. Thinking she'd deal with the problems later.
Shiroken was left alone in the room, so he quickly changed some things. The place lacked some greenery, also the window had a green tint for some reason that blocked the sunlight making it feel like it was always night in the room.
So, first, he made the windows become transparent, then he made a lot of flower plants and pots and placed them everywhere. In just a minute the office started to look more like a garden than an official place.
"Ah, I truly am an artist. Monari's classes didn't go to waste." He muttered in satisfaction. He then took out some papers and started to write on them. ~Hmm, for the future of this village, I need an income source. The agricultural sector is good but not forever sustainable. They need an industry. Hmmm... WAIT! Why the hell don't they make glass from sand?~
The idea struck his mind and he noted it down on the paper. Other than this, he tried to come up with some clay pottery production plans. He was indirectly just making himself rich since a part of all the income will be going to him as taxes.
*BAM*
The door was slammed open and a man in white robes and a green hat entered. It was the attire of the Kazekage. Shiroken didn't even flinch and looked at the man who entered.
He knew by now that the man's name was Rasa, renowned for his ability to use Gold Dust. Shiroken looked at the man personally now, he wasn't anything great, he had auburn hair, dark eyes and a very stern look on his face. It was as if he was in constant constipation.
"Come, have a seat, Lord Kazekage." Shiroken invited the man politely. Though he was ready to receive his attack.
"Rasa, don't do anything crazy. He provides us food right now. If not for him, our people would slowly starve to death." Chiyo pleaded with him.
Rasa started to step forward slowly. Why slowly? Nobody knew. But surprisingly he took a seat and said some even more shocking words, "Thank you for providing food to us. I read the agreement, you mean no harm to the village that is clear from it. And we will soon be buying back our village from you."
"W-what do you mean?" Chiyo asked him.
"Nothing. I am taking a few forces along, Lady Chiyo. I need to reach Konoha in time and preside over the Chunin exam with the Hokage." Rasa explained.
Shiroken was in deep thought, ~Hmm, why did he say this in front of me? It is almost as if... He wants to attack Konoha.~
"And you need men from me, as I am in-charge of them?" Shiroken asked him.
Rasa nodded, "Yes, I need at least 200 men with me. My son, the Jinchuriki of the 1-tail will also be there after all."
~He's going to attack it. And he probably knows who I am. Hmm... What game is he playing?~ Shiroken wondered and said, "I can agree to your request, Lord Kazekage. You can take as many shinobi as you want if it's Konoha you're after. But I will not order them, the shinobi going with you must be volunteers."
"Oh... Does Lord Nobunaga also hate them?" Rasa amusingly asked. His face had a very unnatural smile.
Shiroken answered, "Of course, they are too proud of themselves and never acknowledge their mistakes. Each time, they do something wrong and others pay the price for it. I am against that. But, the innocents did nothing wrong, this is just their lack of leadership and unity."
"Then... I will take my leave, Lord Nobunaga. I need to reach the village on time." Rasa stood up to leave. And just as he was leaving, Shiroken noticed something on the neck. A type of skin discolourment as well as sweat.
~Oh! So this isn't the real Rasa? What happened to him?~ Shiroken wondered.
Chiyo followed back the Kazekage. Shisui appeared at the same time, "He's not Rasa, that I am sure. And if my doubts are to be believed, from his speech pattern and his strange habit of licking his lips with his tongue, I'd say it is Orochimaru. I know that slimy traitor."
"Hmm, what's he up to? When are the finals of the Chunin Exams?" Shiroken asked.
"In a week," He answered, his heart jumping a little.
"All right, we'll be going there at that time, to see what he does. He's been clearly using the Wind Country all this time, the Kazekage is probably dead or imprisoned and the Daimyo was most likely affected by him. What are the specialities of this Orochimaru?" He inquired.
"He's a freak, doing whatever comes into mind. There are rumours he conducts human experiments in search of immortality, and you can imagine how crazy some people can get to become immortal." Shisui revealed in disgust.
"Well, if he really is such a person, then I am very sure he has plans for me too. Since I am very old and stuff. Let's see what he's planning… The first reason he gives me, I'll kill him." He declared and went back to work.
...
At the gates of Sunagakure.
Orochimaru (disguised as Rasa.) stood at the gates waiting for the army to assemble. However, his heart was racing at an unimaginable speed and his mind was stunned.
He felt his lips drying up all of a sudden. ~How... Why is he here? Why did he take over Sunagakure?~
These were some of the many questions he had in his mind. When he heard some merchant had taken over the village, he felt the village was pathetic to allow this. He was planning on killing him. But, as soon as he entered the room, he felt as if he had entered the den of a hungry monster. A monster many times greater than the tailed beasts.
However, now that he saw Shiroken, he had some ideas in his heart. Ideas that might get him into mortal risk, but if done right, could pay him greatly. ~If he can live for centuries, then why can't I?~
~But first I should take care of my new eyes.~ He smiled deviously and worked according to the plan. He rejoiced that at least Shiroken's hate towards Konoha allowed him to get some shinobi.
...
2 Days Later,
Konoha,
Three sand siblings were walking along in the market of Konoha, looking at the bustling streets of the village considered to be the strongest, or rather was. It was said that this Chunin exam was conducted to test the strengths of the villages.
Gara walked in the middle of his sister Temari and his brother Kankuro. The boy was short for his age and it was obvious to see. But, his face looked plain and devoid of any happiness.
*WOOSH*
"Are you the team from Sunagakure?" All of a sudden a Konoha ninja landed near them.
Temari stepped forward as she was the eldest of the three. "Yes, what do you want?" There was a hint of hostility in her voice.
"Nothing, this was sent from your village." He handed the packet to them and left.
The three checked it and found 100,000 Ryo and a note, saying, "Enjoy the stay, kids." With a thumbs-up emoji at the end. It was signed by "Chief Executive of Sunagakure,"
"Who is Chief Exe... Executive?" Kankuro wondered with stars in his eyes.
But Temari quickly pocketed the money, "I don't know. We will say thank you when we return later. And I am keeping it for safekeeping."
"HEY! You always say that and we never see that money." Kankuro complained.
"Because you never remember about it." She shrugged.
Kankuro whined, "Then give it back to me as I can remember now."
She scoffed and walked forward, "Huh, tell me the exact number, then I will return it."
Kankuro could only frown and beat his head in frustration. "Let's go, Gara."
Gara, unlike them, had no change of expression. But he did look at the letter one last time intently, wondering who this new person in his 'prison' was.
