Chapter 62: The Gun Is Faster Within Seven Steps
Chapter 62: The Gun Is Faster Within Seven Steps
Chen Chu surveyed his surroundings, choosing not to pursue the rebel forces. Instead, he turned his gaze towards the depths of the town.
For him, killing these ordinary rebels wouldn't make any difference no matter how many he eliminated. But the cultists were different; each kill was rewarded with contribution points.
He observed attentively as the cultists ahead were pursued by Pang Long and the other teachers. He noticed that among them, there were several whose speed wasn't very fast, and their aura was only at the Second or Third Heavenly Realm.
With this in mind, his figure disappeared with a swish from the original spot, sprinting over to the front of a three-story building dozens of meters away in a blink.
Bang!
Leaping high into the air, Chen Chu, reaching a height of five meters, stepped on the edge of a windowsill. His figure soared once again as he grabbed the eaves of the wall, flipping himself onto the rooftop of the third floor.
Chaos reigned everywhere, and at this high vantage point, there was no need to fear sniper attacks from the shadows.
Under the dim red sunset, standing on the tallest structure in the town, Chen Chu looked out. In the eastern part of the town, he spotted Pang Long and the others.
At this point, out of the initial ten cultists, only four remained. Pang Long single-handedly subdued two, while the other two teachers pursued one each.
Wherever they went, they slung true power, sword qi and blade lights, which flew dozens of meters. The moment they hit the ground, they exploded like high-yield bombs, causing houses to collapse in a terrifying manner.
Seeing this, a hint of regret flashed in Chen Chu's eyes. He had thought he could take advantage of the situation, but it turned out that the weaker cultists couldn't even hold on for a few minutes.
No, something's off. There are only five corpses on the road.
Suddenly, Chen Chu's gaze paused slightly, following the traces of their battle through the town. Along the way, he only saw five corpses, missing one.
"There it is." Chen Chu's figure leaped with a bang from the small building, crossing several yards and landing on the roof of the opposite flat house.
Following his landing, a dark figure swiftly dashed towards the western part of the town. In the blink of an eye, he vanished from the street, showcasing an astonishing speed.
As Chen Chu leaped down from the building, Pang Long, who was currently engaged in combat, turned his head and glanced at him. Observing him chase after the escaping cultist, a hint of admiration flickered in Pang Long's eyes.
On the western outskirts of the town, a cultist clad in a black robe rushed out. His chest heaved as he gasped for air, his face pallid, and traces of blood stained the corners of his mouth.
After breaking out of the small town, the cultist's expression immediately relaxed. Excitement appeared on his face as he gazed at the distant woods. As long as he reached the trees ahead, he could escape.
He could then tell his higher ups that this ambush had been a trap.
Thinking about this, Kloss’ spirits lifted, but suddenly his expression changed. He swiftly lunged to the left.
Just as Kloss moved, a long saber shot out like a missile, emitting a piercing whistle. With a resounding boom, it fiercely embedded itself in a tree trunk over ten meters away.
The half-meter thick tree trunk was pierced directly through by the long saber, burying itself up to the hilt. The force it carried made the branches shake.
If Kloss had reacted even a bit slower, he would have been directly impaled.
Thirty meters away, Chen Chu walked out of the buildings with heavy steps. His gaze behind the viewport was cold, and he exuded a strong oppressive aura.
Kloss struggled to climb to his feet, his expression grim as he looked at Chen Chu. Gradually, a mad and ferocious sneer appeared on his face. "You, a first-year high school student in the Second Heavenly Realm, dare to come after me? You’re seeking death."
He knows that I'm a high school student. Chen Chu narrowed his eyes, sensing that today's ambush was not as simple as it seemed.
A burst of mad energy emanated from Kloss. Red, worm-like patterns appeared on his hands and face beneath the black robe, emitting an eerie red glow and carrying a strong scent of blood that caused Chen Chu to instinctively feel disgust. Even then, however, he remained calm.
Is this the peak of the Second Heavenly Realm?
"Die!"
With a fierce shout, Kloss's entire body was covered in red light, resembling a ferocious blood python as he lunged towards Chen Chu. In his hand, a one-meter-long blood spike tore through the air, resembling a snake fang.
Roar!
Accompanied by a faint roar reminiscent of an elephant, Chen Chu's body erupted with a violent energy. His figure grew by one size, resembling a raging giant elephant as he met the attack head-on.
Whoosh!
In the moment of their approach, a howling wind roared. Chen Chu's figure shifted slightly, passing by Kloss in a brief blur.
This unexpected turn left Kloss, who thought Chen Chu would take the blow, feeling so disoriented that he almost spat blood. He quickly halted, turned around, and saw Chen Chu standing beneath the large tree ten meters away.
Pfft!
Chen Chu pulled the straight saber from the tree trunk and calmly said, "You're too dumb. Did you really think I would face you unarmed while you wield a weapon?"
Facing these bizarre cultists, it would be foolish not to use a weapon. Who knew if that blood spike was poisoned or not.
Chen Chu's words made Kloss's expression turn unpleasant, giving him a sense of insult. Before he could respond, a sharp aura erupted from Chen Chu's body.
With a thunderous sound, he shattered the ground, disappearing from the spot at a speed imperceptible to the naked eye.
Watching Chen Chu speeding towards him as a streak of shadowy black, Kloss suddenly revealed a sinister smile. He threw the blood spike in his hand like a dart.
Clang!
Charging forward with incredible speed, Chen Chu swiftly cut the blood spike in half with a single stroke.
In the time this took, Kloss had already pulled a massive pistol, resembling a Desert Eagle but with double the caliber, from his waist. A triumphant expression appeared on his face.
These students are indeed too inexperienced. Do they not know that a gun is faster within seven steps?
Just as the gun barrel was aimed at him, every hair on Chen Chu's body stood on end. His instincts told him that the gun had significant power, enough to penetrate the defense of his body armor. Kloss’ pistol thundered in his hand.
Boom!
In the split second just before the gun fired, Chen Chu, having closed the gap to within three meters of Kloss, abruptly bent down. During that brief moment, he sensed only a sharp breath rushing past over the top of his head.
Clang!
Kloss didn't get the chance for a second shot. Chen Chu slid in swiftly, and with a quick turn, he severed the pistol in half.
Rising from the fall, Chen Chu turned and swung his left arm, which swelled with a violent force, causing a shockwave in the air. Kloss quickly discarded the gun handle and lunged forward towards him.
Boom!
In the instant their fists collided, a terrifying force clashed, sending out a transparent shockwave that exploded in a ring.
Pfft!
Kloss' face changed drastically in an instant. His entire body flew several meters back under the terrifying force unleashed by that punch. Muscles in his arm had torn, and blood gushed out of both the injuries and his mouth.
"Aren't you in the Second Heavenly Realm?"
With a face filled with indignation, Kloss looked at Chen Chu. This high school student had turned out to be more cunning than him, hiding his true strength and pretending to be weaker to deceive him.
That punch just now had rendered his arm almost completely useless. This level of strength was far beyond the Second Heavenly Realm.
Chen Chu stood with his saber in hand and calmly said, "My realm is indeed only the Second, and I've only recently broken through. It's just that you're too weak."
Despite the cultist's aura clearly being at the peak of the Second Heavenly Realm, the impact of his previous strike against Chen Chu had felt strangely empty. The red energy had crumbled upon contact with the dominant true power of his Dragon Elephant Art. The most it did was make him feel a bit uncomfortable.
With a weaker physique, probably at the peak of the First Heavenly Realm at the most, it was only due to the power amplification of that strange red energy that Chen Chu’s punch hadn’t outright killed him.
"How is this possible?!" Kloss refused to believe it. How could this power, that had cost him so much to acquire, turn out to be so weak?
Unfortunately, Chen Chu had no interest in saying anything more to him. His eyes turned cold, and a sharp aura erupted from his body. In an instant, a fierce wind exploded, accompanied by a sharp whistling roar.
"Shit!" Seeing the rapidly expanding blade light, Kloss instinctively tried to evade...
Pfft!
Chen Chu's figure appeared behind Kloss, and he slowly retracted his blade.
A bloodstain appeared on Kloss's neck, and then hot blood gushed out. His body and head fell to the ground with a couple of thuds.
This was the ultimate move of the Insightful Blade's second stage: the Wisdom King’s Slash. It instantly doubled the user’s speed at close range, condensing their energy into a blade that severed everything it touched. With the considerable amount of energy it consumed, however, it could only be used continuously after breaking through to the Third Heavenly Realm.
Chen Chu had chosen this saber art for that reason initially. His physique would become stronger as his avatar evolved, and in the later stages, this move would become truly terrifying.
Chen Chu slowly exhaled. After confirming that the cultist was dead, the tension that he felt disappeared.
Although only a few moves were used during the battle, it had still been dangerous, especially when the cultist had pulled out that hidden hand cannon. Fortunately, he was well-prepared, staying vigilant ever since he had first felt a sense of danger. He wouldn’t have been able to avoid that shot in such a close distance otherwise.
"These guys really are cunning and without ethics, just like the teachers said."
