Chapter 92: Oliver
Jane shook her head as she replied, "This is your stage, keep talking. Someone has come."
"Someone?" David was surprised to hear Jane's last sentence.
He then looked out over the meadow, and found a Red Ferrari zooming by, stopping right in front of the red carpet.
A man who appeared to be in his 30s got out of the car. He was wearing a professional suit, neat hair, and had a handsome face.
When they saw him, the Parisian elite looked at each other seriously.
"He's Oliver Rothschild," said those who recognized him.
Oliver showed an ugly expression when he saw David and Jane on stage.
His steps quickened as he walked onto the stage.
Now David finally saw another member of the Rothschild Family, unfortunately this one was a man, so things might get difficult.
He had clearly come to make trouble.
When he stopped his steps, he looked at Jane.
"Sister Jane, you should stop doing this stupid thing and go back home," he said, trying for a gentle tone.
"Is this what you consider a stupid thing, why don't I feel like it?" Jane asked in response, instantly showing her annoyance.
This instantly caused tension among the people watching.
They wondered how the drama would end. Would Jane go home and leave David alone here so that he would go back to being an ordinary, insignificant man?
"Sister, your emotions have gotten the better of you," Oliver said.
"I know and I like that," Jane replied, not trying to argue with him.
This left Oliver seemingly at a loss for words.
Jane didn't argue that this was because of her emotions. The problem was that she liked it.
"Ehhmmm..." David cleared his throat and since he was holding the microphone, it sounded loud.
Oliver spontaneously looked at him, instantly showing an annoyed expression.
"Boy, know your place," he said before David could say anything.
Now it was interesting because people were curious how David would deal with the Rothschild Family since he had previously claimed not to be afraid of any trouble.
"You should be the one who needs to know your place," David replied calmly.
He actually dared to answer, not hiding behind his woman as some people suspected.
Even Oliver seemed surprised by David's response as he was used to people acting inferior in front of him no matter if they were rich people or high-ranking officials.
"It seems you dare to say nonsense to me," Oliver said, suddenly seeming interested in David's personality.
"I'm just telling you the facts," David replied. "This is between me and Jane. You may be her family, but in a love relationship between two humans, even family is an outsider. We are all adults here and we know what we are doing."
"Such a concept does not apply in our family because in front of every member of our family, you are just a small mosquito."
"Then I will bring that concept to your family later," David replied, continuing to state his opinion, and he never showed any signs of hesitation or fear despite facing such a huge enemy.
This naturally earned the admiration of the Parisian elite.
They began to understand why Jane had accepted David. It seemed that the man she had chosen was indeed unique.
The question was whether David was just an ignorant hot-blooded young man who acted as if nothing could stand in his way?
Some people might think so, but there are also those who think that even a hot-blooded young man would not dare to act up to this point.
One thing that almost everyone agreed on was that David spoke well. His calmness showed that he was probably a rational thinker despite being a hot-blooded youth.
"Oliver, you really should know your place." Jane suddenly spoke after being silent while David spoke.
"You'd better not keep interrupting my engagement ceremony or you'll be in trouble once you get back."
In front of everyone, Jane threatened Oliver.
And apparently, Oliver froze until his mouth opened. There were signs that he was afraid of Jane's threat.
This made everyone curious as to why Jane could threaten Oliver to that point.
Unfortunately, not all of them knew about spiritual powers. Jane had above-average strength. Even if she was young, she could threaten her family members who were older than her.
"Sister Jane, you should reconsider your actions," Oliver said after a moment of silence.
To his surprise, after he said that, Lisa suddenly approached him.
"Mr. Oliver, it's time for you to leave. If you refuse, I will force you," Lisa told him, surprising everyone again.
Lisa was only the driver and probably Jane's bodyguard as well, how could she be so bold as to ask Oliver to leave, even giving him threats.
Surprisingly Oliver only seemed to become more gloomy and silent, he didn't dare to scold Lisa.
In the end, he turned around and left.
At the moment he left, Jane's eyes suddenly became cold as she stared at Oliver's back.
David didn't need to guess to know that Jane was about to do something to Oliver.
"Ladies and gentlemen, I apologize that a dog has interrupted this event, please calm down and continue to enjoy the party," David said into the microphone.
Oliver was just getting into his car when he said that.
While people laughed at David's audacity to insult Oliver, the latter widened his eyes.
"Boy, you!" he said from afar in a loud voice.
Not only did David dare him, he even called him a dog in front of so many people.
This was more than just an insult. It could also be said to be a challenge to him.
Unfortunately, he was now far enough away and there were too many people here that it was impossible for him to cause a bigger commotion.
Plus, Lisa was really following him. That woman kept staring at him, watching him like a lion watching its prey.
To make him worry there was no need for Jane herself to act, just Lisa being Jane's loyal soldier was enough to make him worry.
In fact, in the Rothschild Family, he was not the only one who feared Lisa.
If it wasn't because this was too big a deal, he wouldn't want to bother Jane either.
However, this could not be allowed. Whether it was based on family ideology or his personal views, Jane should not fall in love with a man without a background like David.
The disapproval increased because David had provoked him into hating David.
Oliver kept staring at David with a sharp gaze before driving his car.
As he drove, his car exhaust roared loudly like an angry lion.
"Ladies and gentlemen, once again I apologize for this matter," David said again, calming the few people who still felt awkward.
After that, he looked at Jane, took her hand and pulled her down.
He did not plan to leave now, but enjoyed the party by eating the dishes provided.
Funnily enough, people applauded when he got off the stage. It seemed that they were subconsciously supporting him.
Meanwhile, the host invited some singers to come on stage, asking them to sing.
At this event, no one objected to singing even though they were not paid.
David and Jane were greeted by people as they made their way to a table.
If David was previously looked at with doubt after he said that he was from the common people, but after he showed his courage, some elites showed him respect. Some even gave him a thumbs up.
"David, you have impressive courage." Owen suddenly approached David and Jane, acting as if they were very familiar.
"Miss Jane!" He bowed slightly as he greeted Jane.
The latter didn't know who he was, so David said to her, "This is the Owen that Pramono mentioned."
Upon hearing that, Jane looked at Owen more carefully.
"Where did you meet David?" she asked Owen.
The question instantly made David's expression freeze, even Owen opened his lips slightly.
He glanced at David. When he saw the panic on his face, he wanted to laugh.
However, he also knew how to avoid problems like this. Calmly, he replied, "we met at a restaurant, some small things caused us to chat."
Manifestation of Heaven cannot be talked about here. Without mentioning the place, their interaction could indeed be said to have started at the restaurant when they had breakfast.
Jane nodded after hearing that. It was unknown whether she believed it or not.
"Later, we will invest heavily into the app created by Pramono. If you don't want your shares to be eroded, you might as well put in some capital," Jane said.
"I've already heard about it from Pramono. It's just that I'm in a difficult situation to provide funds as my family is quite conservative in investing," Owen replied. "However, I think my family would be interested if they knew that you were the main investor in the project."
"Hehehe, Miss Jane, there seems to be a big plan that you want to do. May I know that? I think I will also invest." A middle-aged man suddenly approached them.
From the way he spoke, he seemed to have interacted with Jane before today.
When David looked at him, he discovered that he was the mayor, Samuel.
He might not be the number one person in Paris as there were many big figures living in the city, not to mention national officials.
However, he was still recognized as a very influential politician, almost equivalent to a minister.
Plus, he also comes from a very wealthy family. It can be said that his family is one of the most influential families in France as they own many businesses and hold important positions.
