Chapter 273
273 Giving Me A New Start
(Jane’s PoV)
I fell into contemplation as I heard his answer. As expected of a great skill! Even when it still had an interlude for five minutes and as anything could happen in five minutes, the user of this skill needed to have a good hiding skill to cover the flaw of this skill.
That night, I had a long talk with Siji. It was either about the Soul Possession, or about my next schedule in both worlds. I went to sleep past midnight but with satisfied mind as my curiosity was answered by Siji.
As I have already laid the rule and where I was standing, the two men in my house showed me how hard they tried to obey the rules to achieve our goals. It took me a while to realize that all this time they were not really trying hard for some reasons only they knew about. Only after that night confrontation did I understand the true self-restraint action.
I didn’t want to make it even harder to the both of them, so I hastened my plan to return to college. The next week, we were already on our way to G City. It only took 4-5 hours by car, and when we arrived there, I had already booked a room for me while Tom and Sanji went back to their houses.
It might be my luck that I managed to find a good dormitory near the campus. On the next day, I moved into my new dormitory with my two ‘guardians’ at my tow. After checking the room, I went to the campus to submit my registration. It was still two months before the new term, but it’s better to clear things up first so that I still had time to do a self-training without any worry.
The two months I used to control my own power and aura to the point I was the same with any normal person out there. After finally getting a good control of it, I returned to the time when I first saw ghost. The only difference was I could ignore it smoother than before without showing any apparent change on my face or my eyes.
I could even calmly walk through their ghostly body instead of turning away and choosing another path. It was a whole new point of view of being normal for me!
The new term started and I could feel my new life went along with it as well. It felt nice walking out from the dorm and walked towards where the college was. It reminded me of my days back then when I was still a young girl with crafty mind that couldn’t decide whether I wanted attention or not. It was such an embarrassing time of my life, yet it filled with many life changing events that made me who I am today.
.....
“Done reminiscing?” A familiar voice surprised me from having a nice and beautiful moment along with a big hand enveloping my own hand in a firm hold.
Looking at the owner of the voice, I smiled and looked at the way our hands filled the gaps of each others’ fingers. At that time, he was floating next to me, sometimes ahead of me, but now I could walk with him hand in hand on the same path that we took together.
“Of course. It’s not much to remember, after all.” I looked ahead and noticed some eyes were looking at us as we spoke.
No, not ghosts’ eyes. I mean, human eyes. After all, I wasn’t the only one on the road to campus. Moreover, Tom wasn’t ugly either. I still remembered the time when we had a date in Y City and almost the eyes of the girls were directing at the both of them. This time, it was the same.
Fortunately, Tom was the only one here with me. I had no idea where Sanji was, but I was sure he would control himself well in the campus area. After all, he was a lecturer here. He needed to preserve his dignity as one, especially since he was rather famous back then.
“Is that so? I’m pretty much sure that I saw someone here flirting with a senior back then. But, to save you from any embarrassment, I’ll keep quiet about it.” Tom raised his head proudly, as if he was winning something from me.
“Thank you for the concern.” I didn’t bother to conceal the sarcasm in my tone.
Tom laughed. “Anyway, I’m glad I’m finally able to accompany you to study for real.” His laugh turned into a big grin and from the way his eyes sparked with happiness, I didn’t have the heart to say what I had in mind.
He really looked like a fool grinning like that. A handsome grinning fool.
Right before we entered the area of Engineering Faculty, he released my hand and waved goodbye to me. Maybe he still had something in his heart that wouldn’t let him to enter his old study building. I thought he would walk with me into the building and greeted his old teachers, but it was all just a wishful thinking. Seeing that he wouldn’t walk any further ahead, I waved at him before I entered the building. Only after I stepped inside the building then he turned back and walked away.
“I’ve been waiting for you.” Another voice surprised me and again, a big hand took my hand into his smoothly.
Obviously, I thought high about him. I thought he wouldn’t do such thing to a student to preserve his dignity, turned out I was wrong.
Look at that brilliant smile! Look at that firm grip! Obviously, he didn’t give a damn about his reputation! He was no less shameless and domineering than Tom. From the way they hold my hand and their body stuck close to mine, it was as if they were announcing to the world that I had them by my side! My left and right hands were occupied, there was no space for other people to squeeze into our relationship!
What were they afraid about?
“You scared me! Were you in this together?” I looked at him suspiciously.
Sanji laughed. “Baby, it’s the first time we are here after we are officially dating. Of course, I don’t want to lose to him. We want to give you a new start for your new college life.”
“Did you reclaim your position here?”
“I didn’t want to, but they begged me to come back after getting a news that I had returned.” He shrugged his shoulders.
He sounded like he was boasting, but knowing how good he was in his field, I knew that he wasn’t lying. Even so, I was sure it wasn’t to the point of begging him to come back.
“Okay, Mr. Lecturer. Now, would you mind to let my hand off? We’re getting some nasty stares here.” I couldn’t help but whisper to him while taking a peek towards the pairs of eyes around us.
“Don’t mind them.” He smiled and walked with me towards the office of Civil Engineering Department. “I’ll accompany you to report your return, just in case you can’t find the office.”
It wasn’t that far, really. He made it sound like the office was on the other end of the building where in reality, it was just on the next corner. It was even less than fifty meters from the main door.
“I appreciate the thought, but I can find my own way well.” I smiled sarcastically at him and pulled my hand from his grasp.
“Not that easy.” He tightened his hold and half-dragged me towards the office, ignoring my protest.
The rest of what happened made me dumbfounded. Anyway, I successfully reported back to the chief, but the way Sanji talked to the other lecturers about really made me wish I could disappear.
Well, technically I could cross realm and disappeared from their eyes. But, it would be too much, right?
I had my ears full from the teasing and blessing coming from the Elders in the office. It was a wonder how I could get out of there without being crazy. Stupefied and embarrassed maybe, but not crazy. Was this the new start he was talking about? Tom made sure the people on campus knew our relationship and Sanji did the same with the people in higher position.
What a great start! I told myself bitingly.
“Jane?” A soft voice filled with uncertainty snapped me back to my senses.
