Chapter 84 His Greed Meter Reached 75%

Ursa Major noticed Nathan charging towards him frighteningly, so he took cover behind an old tree and used his claws to quickly scale its trunk and leap away.

The giant bear monster roared as it charged toward the two hunters.

Nathan charged at the giant bear monster, swords blazing with fire. He slashed and thrust his weapons at the creature, causing it to roar in pain and rage.

He leaped from atop the black wolf and charged forward. He crossed his swords in front of him and heated them up, casting a brilliant glow of flames in the dimly lit forest.

"Fire Cutting Waves." He shouted as he swung his swords in front of him, causing the fire to spread.

Meriel, armed with a scythe, hovered low in the air and swung her weapon at the bear monster. The scythe sliced through the air, but the beast was too fast and managed to dodge the attack.

"Fire Cutting Wave!" Nathan shouted as he swung his swords in a wide arc. The black swords sliced through the air, and the flames followed.

Meriel darted in and slashed at the bear, but it dodged the attack.

Ursa Major roared and lunged forward, its powerful claws swiping at Nathan and Meriel. Nathan blocked the attack with the fire swords, and the heat from the impact of the claws against the swords sent sparks flying.

Meriel moved to the side and unleashed a powerful blast of blood magic.

The Magic created a crescent-shaped slash made of the monster's own blood. The force of it sent Ursa Major tumbling back.

They were regrouped, and Nathan urged Meriel to get on his spirit beast wolf. She did so, and Nathan leaped onto the back of the beast, and the two of them charged forward.

With a mighty roar, they collided with Ursa Major, Nathan slashing at it with his swords and Meriel slashing with her scythe. Ursa Major roared in pain and anger but kept coming.

They circled around Ursa Major, trying to find a way to get past its defenses.

"Meriel, distract him." Nathan shouted for Meriel to hover low, and she did so just as Ursa Major was about to unleash another powerful magical attack.

The bear's long fingernails glowed like a dim lamp in the forest. A dozen crescent-shaped energies then shot out in all directions, causing explosions in various places.

Fang swiftly dodged the attack, and Meriel also managed to take cover using her Scythe, which she skillfully used to block some of the monster's strikes.

"Meriel?" Nathan called out to her. She responded, "Yes!"

Meriel flew just above the monster's reach, and Nathan used a powerful fire attack to distract it.

"Now!" Nathan yelled, "Attack!"

With its guard down, Meriel swooped in and delivered a powerful strike with her scythe, slicing through Ursa Major's fur and leaving a deep gash.

Its fur burned, and smoke rose from the wound.

The monster roared in pain, but it didn't seem to be dead yet.

Ursa Major roared in pain and stumbled back. Nathan and Meriel saw their chance and leaped onto the monster's back. Meriel used her blood magic to bind Ursa Major's claws, while Nathan used his fire swords to keep it at bay.

"Come on!" Nathan yelled as he slashed at the bear.

The bear swiped its claws at them, but they both ducked and evaded the attack.

Meriel swung her scythe and sliced through the bear's fur while Nathan slashed and stabbed at its thick muscles. She then used her blood magic to bind the monster's limbs, but it seemed not effective.

The bear monster then lunged forward, claws outstretched. Nathan quickly blocked the attack with his swords and pushed the beast back. As the bear monster tried to lunge forward again, Meriel swooped in and slashed at the beast with her scythe.

"Fire Cutting Wave!" Nathan shouted as he swung his swords in a wide arc.

The bear monster howled in pain and rage as the fire struck it.

The bear monster stumbled back in pain and rage but quickly recovered and charged toward them again.

"Shit!" Nathan cursed, frustrated by the never-ending battle.

Nathan jumped back and spun around, his flaming swords creating a blazing circle of fire around the bear monster. While Meriel took the opportunity to close in and deliver a series of quick and powerful strikes with her scythe.

The bear monster was quickly overwhelmed by the combined might of both hunters.

"Get on the spirit wolf!" Nathan shouted as he swung his swords at the monster.

Nathan then jumped off of the wolf and landed on the bear's back. He used both swords to start slashing at the monster's neck, trying to break its defenses.

Meriel took advantage of the distraction and went in for the kill, slicing the bear's stomach with the scythe. The giant bear monster howled in agony and started to retreat.

The two hunters chased after it, their blades causing large gouges in its body. Its thick fur now had dozens of cuts that were bleeding profusely.

As the fight wore on, Ursa Major's strength began to wane. Nathan and Meriel kept up their assault, relentlessly striking at it with their weapons. Finally, Ursa Major was too weak to fight back and collapsed to the ground with a roar.

As they watched the bear monster fall apart, Nathan and Meriel sighed in relief.

"It's finally over." Nathan said.

But, "where is the experience notification?" Nathan wondered aloud.

He was confused why he wasn't getting any notification from the System. That's when he realized what had happened; people emerged from behind the trees and smiled at what he had done.

"They got the last hit, Mr. Nathan," Meriel said softly. "It was their team that won the prize."

"Woah... sorry about that, we didn't mean to attack," one of the seven said as they approached Nathan and Meriel. "But it looks like this reward is ours."

Nathan activated his Magic Detection and detected a powerful energy emanating from the monster's chest.

"Monster Soul Stone," he muttered, taking a deep breath and closing his eyes.

His Greed Meter reached 75%.

Nathan sighed heavily. "I'm more disappointed than ever before." He looked at them with a stern expression.
