My Plunderer System

Chapter 34 34 - Sparring II

After coming up with his plan, Milo finally put it into action. He slowed the swinging of the chain and chose to go for a slow sweeping attack at Charles' legs. He easily jumped over the strike which allowed Milo to withdraw the chain. This time though, it was Milo who chose to close the distance. Seeing this, Charles prepared a thrusting attack towards Milo's side. Milo, seeing this, used the chain to direct the attack past him, before wrapping the chains around the spear and kicking Charles in the stomach. He was unprepared for this and when being hit, he got the wind knocked out of him, causing him to lose his grip on his spear. Milo then held the sickle out, pointed at Charles' throat.

"Match over, Milo Fenix wins," shouted Mikael.

After the match, the only comments made were that Charles would need to be prepared to encounter feints like Milo had done in the match, by drawing in his opponents attack, he turned it around on him and got the advantage.

After two more sparring matches, class was over. When returning his weapon, Mikael congratulated Milo on the win and told him to keep up the great work.

Mikael thought that Milo showed great promise and he improved leaps and bounds faster than the majority of the other students in his class. He wasn't sure if it was just luck or if Milo had a lot of latent talent that was just beginning to show.

After the spar Milo reflected on it himself. He was frustrated that range was his main issue, the sickle had a small range that didn't allow for him to use it effectively against mid range weapons. The only solution he could think of would be to hold the chain at a different length for now but he needed a more permanent solution.

After his combat class, Milo went back to his dorm to brainstorm more ideas of how to use his ability with the chain sickle. While also analyzing some of the other matches that had happened during class to improve his own fighting style. Anything that could help him grow his fighting skills.

After a while his roommates had returned and the three of them talked for some time before heading off to bed.

Milo had decided that now would be a good time to watch the tutorial that covered the intermediate techniques for the chain sickle. This was due to him feeling that he had gotten a good grasp of the basic skills and would only be able to improve them more through sparring like today.

After watching the videos and deciding he would practice them during his freetime, Milo finally nodded off to sleep.

When waking up the next day, Milo received a message he was not expecting to see.
