Chapter 22 22 - Practical Training
Chris's match had just started and the student he was going up against was a student the same rank as him that also used the wind element. When the match started, unlike in Milo's match, the wind student took a defensive posture. Chris, who seemed tired of sitting around, threw a fireball towards the student. As soon as it got close the student threw up a gust of air that blew the fireball Chris had thrown out. As soon as this happened Chris knew ranged attacks wouldn't work so he ran forward igniting both his arms in flames, before he could get close though the student made a small tornado around himself, it was strong enough that if Chris got close he would get blown away.
After avoiding the wind blasts thrown at him by his opponent, Chris seemed like he had finally come up with a plan. He slowly began walking towards the student who once again threw up a small tornado around himself.
"Sorry but this may hurt a bit," Chris said as he let forth a massive wave of flames, once the flames hit the tornado, instead of being put out the fire was absorbed by the wind and became a pillar of flames.
As soon as the tornado was filled with flames, Mr. Kruz called off the match and had a group of students take the now toasted student to the infirmary, luckily it seemed like he wasn't hit directly by the flames, as aside from some burns and his hair being singed the student wasn't too badly injured. Because of the nature of the school, the school infirmary was more like a complete doctors office with a team of nurses who were ex gatecrashers with healing abilities.
Following the match, there were a few more rounds of matches but after the dominating performances by Chris and Milo, they were the final two competitors in the running for the prize that Mr. Kruz had mentioned at the start of the class.
"As I mentioned before I have a small prize for the overall winner of our little tourney today. Now that the last two competitors standing have been decided I figure it's about time I show you all what you have been competing for."
After he said that, from a pocket in his jacket he pulled out a strange looking object, it was about the size of an apple, and was in the shape of an octahedron. The strangest thing about it was the color, it was constantly shifting as if there was a flowing liquid inside. When looking at it closer there was a ding and a screen popped up above the object in Milo's vision.
[Intermediate Essence Core]
- Can be absorbed to increase Magic Power stat -
[Clear]
Once the system informed Milo that this was an essence stone, his eyes glittered with greed. He finally had an opportunity to raise his Magic Power stat and maybe a chance to unlock a new feature of the system. He wouldn't lose.
Chris had also gotten pumped up, as to a student, an Intermediate Essence Core could be used to make a lot of money or an intermediate weapon, something most students didn't have access to. After seeing the prize the other students who had been knocked out were all bummed out, as they wished they were strong enough to have a chance at winning the amazing prize.
After quieting the class down, Milo and Chris took their positions and prepared for their match.
"I won't lose," was the only thought going through Milo's head.
