My OP Minion System in the Apocalypse

Chapter 270 Loose Ends Cleaned Up

I raised my hand, and as if a switch had been flipped, everyone stopped in their tracks. The silence that descended on the city was eerie as if no one had ever lived there. The tip of my sword was still nestled under Noah's chin, and I smiled with satisfaction as I looked out at my people. It was a moment that I had been waiting for – the moment when I knew that they had become truly loyal to me.

There is nothing more important than the loyalty of one's people, and I felt a deep sense of pride at that moment. As I moved my sword away from Noah, I turned to face Oliver, who had been captured earlier. He was on his knees, looking up at me with pleading eyes. I could see the fear of death in them, and he spoke in a trembling voice, "Please let me go. I want to live. I will leave this city and never return. I will live a normal life or even better, I will serve you in your army. Please let me live."

Oliver had a unique gift – he could read people's thoughts. But his selfish nature had prevented him from using his gift to its fullest potential. If he had, he might have defeated me easily. It was a reminder that a man's biggest enemy was often himself.

For a moment, I considered using Oliver for my future adventures. My sword was still resting on his neck, and he continued to plead, "Please let me live. I will serve you." But I knew that a captured king would never be loyal to me. He could turn into a spark that would ignite the flames of rebellion at any moment.

I couldn't risk it. I turned to Chloe to ask for her opinion, and although she did not say anything, I could see in her eyes that she did not support this. "A captured king cannot be kept alive," I said to Oliver. "You both will have to die, but I promise you a quick death." Oliver started to cry, and his fear of death was palpable.

I raised my sword, and with a swift stroke, his head rolled off his shoulders. Blood gushed out of his neck and landed on Noah's face. The warmth of his friend's blood struck an unknown fear in Noah, and he began to run away from me. He was crying, shouting, and running aimlessly, until he stumbled and fell off the stage.

He kept running, his cries of despair echoing in the empty city. I felt a twinge of guilt as I watched him run, but I knew that I had no other choice. A captured king was a danger to me and my people. I had to ensure that the flames of rebellion did not have the chance to spread and become an unstoppable force.

As I looked out at the deserted city, I knew that I had made the right decision. It was a hard decision, but it was one that had to be made. I turned and walked away, leaving the city behind me, hoping that one day, it would come to life once more.

I leaped off the stage, adrenaline coursing through my veins as I gave chase with my sword firmly grasped in my hand. The erratic movements of my prey were nothing more than a futile attempt to escape. I closed in on him with ease, and in one swift motion, his lifeless body collapsed to the ground.

The aftermath of the fight sent shivers down my spine as I realized the gravity of my actions. Noah, once a formidable opponent, lay defeated before me, the life and light gone from his eyes. The fear of death had a power that was beyond my comprehension, as even the bravest of men were brought to their knees in its presence.

With the battle won, I returned to the stage, a hero to my people. But the elation was short-lived as the reality of the losses that we had sustained began to sink in. The cost of victory was high, and the faces of the fallen soldiers haunted me. I could not help but feel that their lives were taken too soon, and the impact of their loss weighed heavily on my heart.

Chloe, my trusted confidante, was the only one who could understand the turmoil within me. She sensed my anguish and urged me to take some time to rest. I agreed and we made our way to the palace.

As I lay down in the opulent bedroom, I couldn't help but ponder the true cost of the battle. I opened the advanced control menu and surveyed the damage that had been inflicted. The numbers were staggering, and the weight of the loss was almost too much to bear.

In the stillness of the room, Chloe's gentle presence calmed my nerves. Her comforting embrace was the balm that soothed my aching soul. As I closed my eyes, I knew that the pain of my actions would linger, but I also knew that the love and support of those closest to me would help me bear it. The memory of the fallen would never be forgotten, and their sacrifices would always be remembered.
