Chapter 228 Develop
Now I returned to the training grounds to make some decisions about the captured warriors. The warriors were on their knees, with swordplay minions holding their swords to their necks. Chloe was standing in front of them, trying to persuade them to join our army, but none of them were willing.
One of them said they would rather die than become part of our army. I came up from behind and said, "Well, well, well, I will give you that you are a brave warrior, but there is a problem that my friend and warrior doesn't understand. She was asking you to join our army, but I am not going to ask anything. What does that mean? Don't we need more warriors?" Chloe asked.
"Yes, we do need more warriors, but we will create more warriors. The enemy cannot become our warriors. Don't you know that? May I ask, what is the name of this village?" I said.
The warriors didn't say anything. Chloe stepped forward and punched one in the face and kicked him in the gut, but still not a word was spoken.
"Good. I have become a fan of your spirit, but this doesn't mean you will live. You are all going to die because we don't want traitors in our warrior camps," I said to them.
I was in a hurry to return to my city and see what was going on there, so I told my minions to end this quickly. In the next second, all the warriors were lying on the ground and one warrior's head rolled at my feet. A smile spread across my face, showing how satisfied I was with the results of this battle. Now I had to see if the residents of this village would live with us or not. All of them were standing in the residential area.
I went there to see what they wanted. I stood on a rock and all the people were crying. I told them to stop, but they weren't listening. I ordered my minions to silence them, and they all turned quiet out of fear of the swords. When they were all silent, I spoke.
**
"Residents, I understand that you are all terrified of me and my army, but please do not fear us. We have no intention of causing you harm as long as you follow my instructions. You are all incredibly valuable to me, and I will not treat you as slaves. Instead, you will be given the status of citizens in my city, just as if you have always lived here. I will provide you with protection, housing that is made of stone and furnished with high-quality items, and a constant supply of food. Your children will have a bright future in my city, rather than remaining stuck in this dilapidated village. There is no need to join my army, simply live freely and comfortably under my care."
Despite my assurances, the villagers found it difficult to trust me. They believed that my offer was merely a ploy to lure them into my city. However, Chloe stepped forward to reassure them.
"He took me in and, unlike other leaders, did not make me his slave. Instead, he treated me with kindness and respect, becoming my friend. I can assure you that you will not be treated as slaves either. You will be granted the same privileges as me, with your own homes and the title of citizens in our city."
After considering Chloe's words, the villagers eventually agreed to come with us to my city. I instructed my sword-wielding minions to escort the villagers to their new home. Chloe and I then mounted our horses and began our journey back to the city.
As the sun reached its peak in the sky, we arrived at the gates of my city. Upon inspection, I saw that the construction of the wall had been completed, providing a much-needed layer of defense against any outside threats. It was now my duty to assign homes to the newly-acquired citizens and assign them tasks within the city. I also planned to appoint guards to watch over Chloe's and my own houses.
We crossed the bridge and entered the city, with the minions heading to the training grounds and taking their places. I made my way directly to my house to remove my heavy armor. Meanwhile, Chloe rode towards her own dwelling, her hair flowing freely and radiantly in the sunlight. As I watched her, I couldn't help but feel a twinge of admiration, but I quickly shook off the thought and entered my own home.
As we approached the city, I couldn't help but marvel at its grandeur. The walls were constructed of sturdy stone, standing tall and proud against the backdrop of the lush green forests and rolling hills that surrounded it. The city sprawled out before us, with streets bustling with activity and the sounds of industry filling the air. The scent of baking bread and roasting meat wafted towards us, making my stomach growl with hunger.
Chloe and I dismounted from our horses, handing the reins over to the stable hands who rushed forward to take them. We made our way towards the castle, its towering spires reaching towards the sky. The castle was a marvel of architecture, with delicate carvings adorning the exterior and sparkling jewels embedded in the walls. As we passed through the gates, I couldn't help but feel a sense of pride at the sight of my home.
Inside the castle, the interior was just as impressive as the exterior. Rich tapestries adorned the walls, depicting scenes of battles and triumphs. The floors were made of gleaming marble, cool to the touch and impeccably clean. Servants bustled about, carrying out their duties with efficiency and grace. Chloe and I made our way towards my chambers, passing through grand hallways and opulent rooms.
As we entered my chambers, I couldn't help but feel a sense of relief at the prospect of finally being able to rest.
I guess I could deal with this issue later.
