My Mother Has a System but Won't Use It

Chapter 5: Young Lord of the Ravens

Chapter 5: Young Lord of the Ravens

Inside an ancient cave, in a dark and wide tunnel, the echoing sound of water calmly dripping continued for a while before it was broken by a resounding SLAP!

Kevin Raven looked at the blade in his hand and got even angrier, such precious stuff! SUCH great stuff was sold for a mere 300 Sacred Coins?!

Gritting his teeth, he looked at the wan and wide-eyed merchant on the ground, squinted his eyes, and asked, "Do you at least remember who you sold that book to?"

"I do, I remember young master," The merchant replied, his mouth leaking blood and his head spinning, "I remember her, she was Yue Li! a middle-aged woman from the Starlight Zone, she is secretly famous for having disappeared in the past and coming back with a child years later. Black hair, beautiful white face, and short. You can find her easily!"

Kevin squinted his eyes further, thinking, 'The Starlight family?'

His family, the Raven clan was also one of the three great families of Southern Lust city but unlike the Starlight Family, his family's roots were very shallow.

Even though they were currently of equal power, Ravens were in the end not natively from Sacred Lust Continent and were foreigners whose ancestors settled in here after coming from another continent.

So they will be at a disadvantage!

But if it was a small unknown woman, he might be able to get the thing back. That book might as well be just as good as this mysterious black sword in his hands.

He still couldn't see how strong this sword was. What if that book contained some secret technique to use it better?

No matter what, he had to get it.

The Merchant, Shan Shan, could only moan in his head, 'Please god, Please god take this guy away!'

He had found a book and a blade in this cave while travelling and there was a childish writing on a boulder saying these things could make a fish become a dragon. He hadn't considered much of it then, after all, it was just a rusty black sword with no particular sharpness and a blank book.

Yet, after going to the starlight zone in this time's Awakening ceremony, he had counted his stars at giving the book away for a whole 300 coins.

But...

Who would have thought that he would meet this Young man on the way back and the man would immediately fall in love with the rusty sword?

If that was only it, he would have been happy, but Kevin even made him come here, where he had found the book and sword and even used the sword to cut a literal boulder in half!

This person was a strong Power cultivator. So Shan Shan couldn't even reject and could only tell every truth.

Silence lingered in the cave for a while and Kevin's black eyes sharpened, he said in a cold tone: "Tell me, what use is it to me if I let you live? I know that you have come to understand how important this book and sword might be, so you must also know how dangerous you are to me. So, tell me, why should I let you live?"

Kevin didn't want people on his back who would covet his treasures, it was best to cut the roots of trouble before it could happen.

Shan Shan's heart quivered and he said with fear, "Young Master, you can't enter the Starlight Zone but I can do that at every Awakening ceremony. I can go and buy it back for you!"

"Buy it back?" Kevin chuckled, taking out a small Gu worm from his side bag, "No, I will let you live but you have to get that woman you sold the book to and at the same time, also get the book. Eat this too," he said as he held his hands towards the man.

This was Death Worm cultivated by him for years, it came in pairs and if one of them was killed, the other would die too. It was a specialty of their Raven Clan.

If Shan Shan ate it, it will devour a part of his heart and replace it, and then, if Raven killed the other of the pair. It will also die, killing Shan Shan in the process.

Had the Sword not been such a great thing, Kevin would never have used his Gu Worm since it was even usable on cultivators. It could even help him enslave Evolution Stage power cultivators.

And Shan Shan, as a merchant, knew some of those details since this was one of the Raven Clan's most feared abilities. He shivered and looked at the slimy, grey worm slithering on top of the man's hands.

That slimy worm will live inside him from now on.

He took it into his hands with disgust. Kevin smiled and questioned, "When is the next ceremony again?"

"In..In two days."

"Okay, now Eat it."
