Whether To Join A Guild Or Not

"Why were you hiding?" Qiao asked.

It was suspicious to him.

"I thought you might be some level one or two hunter," the guy replied, waving at Qiao Tai's appearance. Looking at him, anyone would know that he had just killed a monster. And the unassuming shape of his weapon was also to worry about.

"So?" Qiao creased his brows.

"Ah, you actually seem to be a newbie yourself in hunting. I myself barely survived just now, while running away from my predicament. The chasers had actually brought me along to use as bait for the monster, do you know what that means?" the youth looked at Qiao with questioning eyes.

Qiao remembered the situation he was in just yesterday. 'Wasn't it exactly the same? To serve as a bait?' he asked to himself.

The youth saw Qiao was completely silent and shook his head.

"You definitely are a newbie. Let me tell you, the chasers often ask for zeroes from the Guild but why would they require the help of one? Because they want to use it as a bait to act as a diversion or a snack maybe to lower the defenses of the monster," he paused for a moment to take breadth.

Now Qiao could make sense of the situation he was back then.

The youth saw him lost in his thoughts, "Cheer up buddy since both of us survived the wickedness of the chasers," he gave a blunt pat on his shoulder and laughed.

Qiao smiled, indeed he barely made it through.

"What are Guilds?" Qiao asked.

Right now, it was extremely important for him to gain a understanding of this world and this guy had arrived at just the right time. He was talkative and would not hold back common information when asked, Qiao thought.

Since this guy had ran away before the monster or before the chasers could reap his life, he was well and sound. His shabby clothes pointed out that he belonged to a poor family. But in comparison, life was the most precious so he did not stop for the spoils after knowing their plans.

The youth looked at Qiao suspiciously, he scrutinized him head to toe and there sure was a level token, what did that symbolize?

It means that it was given by a Guild who registered his identity.

Qiao somehow understood his scrutinizing gaze and said, "I found it interesting as it was laying on the ground in my way so I wore it," he chuckled and immediately hid it inside his clothes.

The youth blinked and nodded, "If you say so..." he shrugged his shoulders and started walking. It would not hurt to talk and this guy was also only a zero so he wasn't worried much now.

"Let's not stay here long, you can ask me whatever you want to know on the way to Middle Town," he beckoned Qiao and they both walked side-by-side.

Qiao heaved a sigh in his mind, until now he had met only few humans in this strange place and only this one was a little understanding. Others all had been up to no good, with some using him as bait and others stealing his spoils.

"Everyone who wants to become a hunter or those who are too poor and cannot afford any other occupation register in a Guild with their identity and then they start their journey as a zero level. Since the high grade Guilds only open their slots for registration once in a year, most of us register ourselves in small Guilds," the youth spoke in one go and paused a bit.

"What is the use of registering in a Guild, since you also registered but the chasers were still shamelessly using you as bait," Qiao could not find it necessary to join a Guild when it could not save the newbies from bullies.

"Never mind, it happens everywhere but to join a Guild is necessary if not how your hunting experience would be could be counted, the token you are wearing is for counting the experience points during attacks, this let a zero become level one and chaser become hunter," the youth shook his head constantly.

He pitied that this youth who was blank regarding the general information. How had he even ended up in the forest for hunting?

Now there was something which he understood finally. It means the wicked voice must be a hunter and it was him who gave a token for counting the experience point. He don't know whether to thank him or just strangle him bfor throwing him in another world and forcing him to level up.

The youth noticed Qiao in deep thoughts again, "Brother, you think too much, if you keep thinking, a monster might appear and then I cannot predict the outcome," he sighed.

"Is this the only benefit to join a Guild," Qiao asked further.

"Certainly not, the Guild also assign quests which could be beneficial with extra information provided. The information they provide make it much easier to plan a hunt and make it out alive. What more when you are targeting a certain kind of spoil, you can only get the information for that monster from a Guild. All of these are mainly benefits enjoyed by stronger hunters. Before being strong no information could save you from being killed" the youth waved his hand as if being killed by imaginary monster.

"I understand now," inside his head he thought about deciding to wear two tokens, he nodded to himself. It might become beneficial in some way later, one hidden and one apparent. At least he needed quests for now and level up to become stronger. And the token given by the voice might not allow him to get him quests. He had to get to a Guild.

To have the identity of a guild was advantageous in every way, and soon he would realize that it was a good decision by him.
