Chapter 42: Headstrong Level One Chaser (14)
Headstrong Level One Chaser (part 14)
Almost all of the team was wiped out now. The last member of the team who fell miserably in the forest was the chain chaser.
He tried his best till end. He thought that he could get lunatic soon if he kept alert and tried to understand the moves of this youth. The chasers and hunters always take every move as a skill of the hunter but for Qiao it was something these chasers could not comprehend any time soon.
After he was done with the last bully, Qiao sat on the ground and exhaled in relief. It was not easy to keep running around and continuously let your mind think of a way for every moment and situation. He was under great pressure at every move that he made. But it was the advantage of being from the advanced era that led him to this result.
Quipu also sat near him. This was the first time ever that he felt that he was not constrained under the pressure of a leader and he could do whatever he thought was fine.
"Where did you come from?" he asked Qiao. He felt suspicious about the identity of this youth. According to what rumors he had heard in the past years, only someone with a strong background could be this strong and knowledgeable.
Was this youth hiding his identity? And did he intentionally register himself in a small Guild?
The descendants of the rich and stronger hunters could easily get registered under big Guilds and could get backing from the Guild for any type of mission or hunt.
Then why was this youth here?
"I come from a place you have never heard of and it is located at the far end of this continent," Qiao waved his hand.
Slowly he could understand why many of the chasers wanted to know his identity.
"We need to search for Linwin and then head back," Qiao stood up. It was already much time that he had wasted in hunting this team.
Quipu followed him and kept silent for some time.
Qiao was almost halfway through level two now. One more proper hunt and he could probably reach level two. And by accumulating spoils from two more hunts, he might be able to get a level four weapon. And if he waited a little longer and hunted lower level monsters for a while, he probably could buy a level five weapon.
But the first problem he faced was lack of missions. And second problem was the type of weapon. He could not decide what type of weapon would suit him and help him the best in hunting.
Meanwhile, Linwin had not gone back. He was still in the forest and looking up for Qiao. He wanted to wait around to see if brother Qiao would return soon. Finally, they met at the main trail leading to the outer region of the forest which was marked by the bigger Guilds for convenience.
Qiao told him that everything was fine and he should not worry.
But it would not remain fine when the Guild came to know that the level B team was wiped out by him. They nourished these stronger teams because they wanted to keep a strong reputation and also have a hold on the rogue chasers so that they don't create ruckus often.
The Guild might chase out him or punish him for this act.
It wasn't a good outcome in either case.
But now that he saw he had two people following him, Qiao had some better plans in his mind. But he felt he cannot follow his plans until before he reached level three.
Still if he became a level two and with the help of a level one and a newbie, he could think about rogue hunting without asking missions from the Guild sometimes.
He then returned to the Guild along with the two because the evening was falling now.
"Brother Qiao, I am afraid that the Guild will surely investigate about the team and they might chase you away from the Guild when they find out about this. You might even face a harsh punishment," Quipu spoke out of his concern. This was the sole reason that most of the chasers were forced to remain in the Guild. They had to obey the leader because they had no better choice.
"Would they not care about who was at the wrong?" Qiao asked just to confirm. He already knew the answer to it but still he asked.
"They don't care usually unless the one who did this happened to be the kin of a strong family," Quipu shrugged.
He was quite knowledgeable about how things worked in the Middletown and all the Guilds around here.
"What else can I do than to leave the Guild if they are going to force me to," Qiao also shrugged. If it came to that, then he would surely leave on his own.
What he wanted from the Guild was the information and missions, but since the Guild was biased, he was not willing to beg them for anything.
"Brother Qiao, if you decide to make your own team for hunt, don't forget me to add," Quipu reminded him. He also played a part in today's hunt, so he would not be allowed to go scot-free. He had made his mind and he will wait and until then he would remain as a rogue chaser.
Rogue chasers were the ones who could be used as a spare member in case any team lacked a member temporarily.
"I can't form a team until I am at level three," Qiao decided not to be hasty. He had to think it thoroughly.
They reached the Guild and Quipu left their side and sat on an empty bench.
Qiao and Linwin reached where the leader was waiting. He was looking a little concerned because Qiao took much time in returning. And from his appearance he didn't seemed to have been hunting with some other team.
"I am a little new to this place so I thought to take a stroll around and get used to the regions," Qiao excused immediately.
It was not a proper excuse, who would really be willing to take stroll in the open forest. Especially when it was clear that at every step monsters were lurking around more than the teams of the chasers.
But he did not voice out the real reason.
He then received his share from the spoil, while the share of newbie was small because he did not put any remarkable effort for the hunt.
Qiao looked at the transparent stone in his hand, there was no shine coming from it nor did it look exceptional.
He took the stone and submitted in the Guild bank, but then he was strongly thinking about another possibility.
If the Guild really investigated and chased him out then his spoils might be kept back by the Guild. At least this possibility could not be denied.
He thought to withdraw every single spoil from the bank saying that he wanted to buy a weapon.
He nodded to himself and then went to rest.
Meanwhile the team leader scrutinized his actions and he could guess there was something running on his mind.
