Chapter 149: This treasure isn't for you (1)
Yun Jhin got used to the darkness and the feeling of being unable to move his body since the first birth, so he just closed his eyes and started to meditate not trying to think about his surroundings and he just let time pass...
Slowly but surely Yun Jhin could fill the wind hit his buttocks as he was born again!
This time he was directly in the arms of his mother who was coddling him and looking at him with tender love, a roughed male who wore a yellow robe was looking down at him and his mother while having a nervous expression on his face.
Yun Jhin looked around as he thought:
"Strange.. last time I was killed instantly but now this looks like a normal family? What is this test supposed to be?"
Yun Jhin then had to drink some milk from his mother as his tummy grumbled, after he had his fill Yun Jhin still didn't know what to do in this situation:
"Should I just live like this? This is such a bother, the pagoda didn't even give me any information regarding what I should do, I'm even wasting time this way, what would the other trials be?"
Each trial was handmade for each person that entered the pagoda and it would be equal regardless of their cultivation base, Yun Jhin wasn't sure what the others got but considering his innate talent and his special body it meant that his trial could be considered harder and easier at the same time.
Yun Jhin slept in his mother's arms as he waited for something to happen, it surely wouldn't be just a normal life right?
He felt that something was wrong but in the end, as time passed Yun Jhin realized that his feelings weren't as accurate anymore, he grew up to be 2 years old or so and there were still no problems!
His father and mother loved him dearly and they also gave him whatever he asked for, they weren't rich but things worked out just fine, his father was a carpenter and his mother was a cook in the small village they lived in.
This looked like the start of something, Yun Jhin knew because a lot of his reincarnations started in such small villages, they would either get pillaged or attacked by bandits and sometimes he would be able to join their efforts to jump-start his cultivation.
But as time passed Yun Jhin reached 6 years old and no bandits were coming at all!
He acted just like a normal child as he hid his budding cultivation, it seemed that even though his senses were getting messed with, he could still use his cultivation knowledge to strengthen himself, right now he was barely at the 3rd stage of the earthly realm. It couldn't be helped, the surrounding ki was very poor and that meant they lived in an inauspicious location.
Yun Jhin hated this, he didn't know what would happen if he went on a rampage and absorbed these people to further his cultivation, all of them were normal people without any bit of cultivation, some of them had rather strong bodies due to their manual work and agriculture but that was all, Yun Jhin could easily snap these strong people necks like they were chickens with his current cultivation.
But if he did that there was also a chance that he could fail again, who knew what would happen if he failed too many times? Would his life be in peril or would he just be ejected out? Things were quite annoying in this regard, inheritances like these who didn't inform you of anything were the trickiest and hardest to do because they made the challenger use 100% of their knowledge and ability at the same time.
Life was a bit too peaceful for Yun Jhin's liking, he wasn't a warmonger but his cultivation base was increasing at a snail's pace, he only felt exhilarated when his cultivation increased at high speeds!
Yun Jhin sighed as he entered his home then sat at the dinner table, his mother was cooking a big fat juicy pig, roasting it then glazing it into honey, while Yun Jhin didn't need to eat when his cultivation was higher, now that he was just an earthly realm practitioner again, food was always welcome!
While ki was faint in his location he could use nutrients from food to increase his cultivation speed.
His father entered the house with a smile as he dropped a pouch of coins on the table with a burst of laughter:
"We are going to the city!"
Yun Jhin's mother cried out in happiness as she watched the silver coins drop on the table, she gave her husband a big kiss and a hug as she waited for Yun Jhin to join them. Yun Jhin laughed too as he gave both of them a hug while he asked:
"How is the city?"
His father immediately started to give him a vivid description of the city, which thought to be very beautiful and magnificent, for a person like his father the city would be magnificent, but as Yun Jhin heard the description he realized that it was a dump, it just relatively better compared to their small village.
Yun Jhin didn't say anything as his father finished the description of the city, he smiled as he watched his parents making their bags so they could move.
Yun Jhin nor his mother asked him how he made the money, they both believed in his honest nature and how he carried himself around them since they knew him.
They arrived in the city three months later then they bought a small house at the outskirts, the house was made of hay and clay, it wasn't anything special, it was almost worse compared to their former house, but Yun Jhin's father had a big smile on his face as he left the house and went to find work in the city.
As time passed the night fell but his father didn't come back, his mother started to mutter to herself as she called Yun Jhin over and asked if his father ever came back while she was out grocery shopping, or if he sent word through someone.
Unfortunately, there had been no such things!
Suddenly there was a knock at the door as a well-built man entered without waiting for a response, the man wore a police uniform that consisted of black armor, military boots, and a cap.
He bowed towards Yun Jhin's mom as he revealed something inside a piece of cloth, it was his father's severed head!
His mother paled as she put a hand towards her mouth, she started to retch as she couldn't stop herself and vomited on the spot.
The policeman frowned then said:
"We found his severed head near the merchant district, it seemed he had borrowed some money and he couldn't give them back in the allocated time."
Yun Jhin knew this was most likely a lie, his father would never borrow money, they might have thought of him to be new blood that they could take advantage of and he was unfortunately killed in the scuffle, even though his father was a simple man who would do honest work, he didn't like to be ripped off.
The police officer shook his head as he continued:
"His body wasn't found, it's unknown who the killer is but we have some suspects, as his last remaining family you will need to come to the police office for us to protect you."
His mother nodded as she couldn't look towards the piece of cloth anymore, she was trembling so hard that it looked she would fall any time, and if Yun Jhin wasn't currently supporting her she would have fallen to the ground by now.
She slowly made her way towards the policeman as they followed him to the police station.
There they talked for a bit while the policeman comforted both of them, Yun Jhin was currently cleaning his small face with his trembling hands, he was truly a very good actor!
A little bit of time passed and the killer wasn't found, as more time passed the police station couldn't keep Yun Jhin and his mother there anymore, so they had to go back to their house, due to the earner of the family dying, Yun Jhin and his mother also had to go and get jobs now.
For Yun Jhin it wasn't hard to scam people and he always came back with some money, this way his mother didn't really have to work as he was supporting her and himself easily, the city location had a little bit more ki so Yun Jhin's cultivation also increased to the 4th stage of the earthly realm.
As time passed Yun Jhin became 11 years old...
He was at an average height for his age and he was around 43 kilograms, under his baggy grey shirt there were muscles packed that would make you think if he was either a midget or dwarf in disguise as a child.
Yun Jhin's scamming was hard to track to and he could disguise himself using regular appliances found around the normal house of a civilian so no one really found him, he didn't have to deal with cultivators either so he could easily make money without any problems.
Yun Jhin still didn't know what he was supposed to do in this situation, were his father's killers going to come after them sooner or later? Would he have to protect his mother? When will this trial really end?
As Yun Jhin put these questions in his mind, he came home to his mother who was currently cooking a feast for him, they had already bought a bigger and better house and they could eat whatever they wanted, his mother knew what he was doing but she wasn't sure how he got such knowledge, however, as a normal person as long as she got what she needed she wouldn't question such things, they lived well and there weren't any problems at all since Yun Jhin started his 'job'.
Actually, there were a few problems at first but Yun Jhin swiftly dealt with them by killing the people that wanted to trouble him, he realized that killing didn't really pose a problem in the trial but he felt that if he killed his parents then there would be problems, it was just like a hunch he had, he needed to protect his mother!
His father was predestined to die but his mother needed to be alive for him to complete the trial.
So while he went scamming he would also ask out for information of any special things, such as glowing flowers or grasses or any types of plants like these, he wanted to increase his cultivation to make sure whatever was going to come to him, he would be ready!
He really wanted that inheritance from Hell it could help his main body's cultivation shoot up by a lot!
He found the trial to be quite strange, hell a location that everyone thought as evil would give out such trials that were meant for righteous scions of the universe? Was he wrong with his regards to protecting his mother?
But his instincts told him that if he protected her he would be able to get the inheritance... so until he got any more information he would trust his instincts.
