Chapter 330 - 330 Up The Mountain
330 Up The Mountain
The plane touched down with a bang when the landing gear opened. This was followed by high-speed taxiing until the plane came to a stop.
Qiao Jing was jolted awake by the deceleration and realized that his “short” nap had lasted for an hour and a half.
“Second brother must be very tired to be able to sleep so soundly.” Qiao Yue teased.
Qiao Jing smiled. “Probably.”
!!
Qiao Jing rubbed his eyes. It had been a long time since he had slept so soundly. He had also never felt the sense where all his fatigue had been lifted by something.
He got up, took out his suitcase and packed the things he had prepared for himself and Qiao Yue into it.
Their group disembarked.
Because they were doing charity work this time, Qiao Jing had brought a few doctors and pharmaceutical experts with him and everyone got off the plane.
Welcoming them was a bus from Hanshan City. It looked quite old, with its exterior white from the sun.
Qiao Yue carried her luggage and got on the bus. There was nothing wrong with the seats inside; they had probably been refurbished. But there was an unpleasant smell in the bus, like the smell of cigarettes combined with smell of badly sunned seats.
“The smell is so bad.” Qiao Yue wrinkled her nose and complained.
She had been on a bus like this before. When she was living in Nanshan Village, she would ride in a bus like this with the uncles and aunties from her village to go to the market in the city to buy things.
But the buses there didn’t smell this bad.
“Assistant,” Qiao Jing called his assistant over. “Didn’t we arrange our own transport? Why are we on a bus like this?”
The assistant frowned. “Everything here was arranged by the Yin family. I’ll make alternative arrangements now…”
Qiao Yue frowned. The Yin family? Yin He’s Yin family?
“No need, let’s just make do.” Qiao Yue held Qiao Jing’s arm. “I haven’t been on a bus like this for a long time. I want to re-experience the feeling.”
Qiao Jing frowned and looked at Qiao Yue. After a long time, he finally said, “Contact people at Hanshan City and find out what the accommodation is like. If it doesn’t work, please find the best for me, understand?”
Qiao Jing’s assistant nodded quickly.
Qiao Yue didn’t fall into a deep sleep on the bus like she did on the plane. Instead, she turned on her phone and downloaded the most popular mobile game now: Operation Maui.
She hadn’t been playing Glory lately and Xu Hao recommended Operation Maui to her two days ago.
This was a battlefield survival game.
The players would be dropped at a deserted island with equipment and various means of transportation.
On the island, everyone would battle it out. The last surviving team would be the final winner and win the title of “Valiant Champion”.
The journey to Hanshan City would take seven to eight hours anyway, so she might as well pass time by playing this game.
Qiao Jing, on the other hand, was busy with work.
The bus drove steadily on the mountain road. Qiao Yue played game while looking at the scenery outside.
K-Country was north of C-Country. It was currently the season of ice and snow. There was not a single trace of green on the entire mountain. It was covered in white snow. The road that the bus was driving on was the only thing that could be seen.
Hanshan City was on the northside of the mountain. It’s a small city that produced petroleum and chemicals, and it had an ice-free port.
Qiao Yue looked at the winding mountain road and remembered her days back in Nanshan and how she missed that life.
The mountain road was treacherous. Whenever someone saw a mountain cliff through the window, which was rather often, they would let out a soft cry of surprise.
Qiao Yue was fighting intensely on the battlefield and didn’t care about the dangers of the mountain road.
Just as she won a battle, the bus suddenly stopped.
There was nothing in their way on the road.
The driver stood up and said apologetically, “I’m really sorry, the bus has broken down. I think I’ll need to fix it.”
There was a commotion in the bus.
Originally, they were going to stay at a hotel they had booked in S-City tonight. But there was now no hotel to stay in and they might not even make it to Hanshan City.
“What are the people at Yin Corporation doing? They can’t even find us decent transport!”
“Yeah, it’s so cold today. Not only could we catch a cold, we couldn’t even move when there’s frost on the road.”
The driver apologized again and got off the bus.
The crowd quieted down, but Qiao Yue could still hear everyone’s hushed complaints.
Qiao Yue asked Qiao Jing in a low voice, “Do you think we’ll be spending the night here?”
