Lu Weixi’s face subtly changed. Had Qin Zhiyou just called her “Xixi”? That was the nickname her family and ex-boyfriend used for her before she experienced a major family crisis. Her other friends and colleagues would either call her “Wei Hui”, “Manager Lu”, “Miss Lu”, or by her full name. How did he know about this nickname?
She was a little taken aback and listened closely once more. Qin Zhiyou said, “Water, I want water.”
Lu Weixi stood up: “You want water, right? Wait a moment.”
She must have misheard earlier. After all, she was not familiar with Qin Zhiyou at that time. Neither had he called her that in their five years of marriage.
Being drunk does indeed make one thirsty. She went to the kitchen and poured a cup of cold water. After thinking, she dumped out half of it and mixed in some warm water.
Upon returning with the cup of water, Qin Zhiyou turned in bed, his eyelashes slightly fluttering, seemingly about to wake. Lu Weixi quickly stepped forward: “Zhiyou, water.”

Qin Zhiyou looked a bit bewildered. Despite the cup being right at his lips, he did not take a sip. He fixed his usually mocking stare on her, unblinking, deep, and quiet. It was as though he wanted to see her clear through to the other side. Uncomfortable, Lu Weixi put the cup on the nightstand, stood and said, “Call me if you need anything.”
As she was about to leave, her wrist was suddenly grabbed.
Lu Weixi turned around with a frown but was pulled back by Qin Zhiyou before she could utter a word.
“Zhiyou-”
Lu Weixi’s first reaction was to glance at the study door—it was thankfully closed. As it was a study, automatic door closure was installed for the safety of the documents held within–no one would hear their voices.
From her five-year marriage experience with Qin Zhiyou, angering him at this point was a recipe for trouble.
Dawn broke.
Qin Zhiyou was awakened by the chirping birds outside. Opening his eyes, he felt a slight headache due to the heavy drinking the night before. But he soon noticed some discrepancies. He was not resting in the bedroom but in the study. Lu Weixi was in his arms.
Memories from the previous night gradually returned. He had arranged a meeting with Mr. Li, and unconsciously chose a place near her workplace..
