Chapter 490 Serves Them Right
A chance for Unique FC to go three goals up and a chance for Mateo to complete his revenge on Supreme United for what their fans had done to him so far in the game.
Mateo Smith scoring a hat trick against Supreme United despite their fans whistling at him was surely going to make the headlines and it was obviously going to bring in a lot of engagements.
The winger was standing over the ball in the penalty spot now, with his gaze on Perez and everyone else behind him outside the box.
"This is their chance, if he puts this away then their chance of emerging victorious will shoot up," Jim commented.
"And don't forget Mateo will get a hat trick which will be funny after everything the away fans had done to him in this match," Steve added.
The voices of the home fans were going up in chants now making the whistling still coming from the away side sound pretty insignificant now.
What everyone was waiting for now was the referee's whistle and it didn't take long before that high-pitched sound pierced through the air.
"That's the signal from the referee, time to see if the winger is up to the task," Jim commented.
"Well, he did miss that crucial penalty against Spree City in the cup match but their fans will be hoping that doesn't repeat here." Steve expressed.
The winger was already standing a good distance away from the ball when the referee blew the whistle so all he had to do now was close up on the ball but he wasn't in a haste to do that.
Perez seemed to be saying something to him as he jumped up and down on his goal line and Mateo seemed to find it quite amusing judging by the smile on his face now.
The winger slowly took a step forward before he quickly sped up to get to the ball and strike it with his right foot.
Perez thought he had him figured out judging from where he was pointing his foot as he closed up on the ball.
The goalkeeper dived toward the right but that was just where the winger wanted to put him and he ended up rolling the ball into the goalpost from the left.
Perez would have probably saved that had he gone that way because there wasn't really any shot power behind that but he failed to see through the winger's trick.
"And he rolls it into the goalpost!"
This time there was no wild celebration from the winger, all he did was raise both of his hands as his teammates quickly rushed to him.
This was one of those moments where Minino would rush to him and drag him down but the midfielder had something different in mind today.
He let out a scream at the top of his voice as he raced to the away fans side of the stands and just before crossing the line he came to a sudden pause and did a chin flick with a smug look on his face.
"Yeah, that's what happens when you mess with us!" He screamed.
"That was such a calmly taken penalty kick, he did so well to send Perez the wrong way and just roll it in," Steve commented. "He pulled it off, he got that hat trick Supreme United fans must be wondering 'Just who is this kid?"
"They're not the only ones wondering, Steve. That was his thirty-first goal of the season in just twenty-eight games, there's no one taking that golden boot from him now."
'I have to say, it's quite a surprise how we managed to get here.'
<Yeah>
'When they scored that first goal I thought this was going to be at best another draw and at worst a very possible loss but then things ended up turning into this, Mateo's something else.'
<Yeah, he is something out of this world but anyway, it's up to you now to make sure you guys don't lose this lead, they're very capable of equalizing this scoreline before the end of the match so keep your guard up>
'Yeah, I'm aware of that.' The goalkeeper replied subconsciously.
The match had to resume after the celebration from the home team.
Supreme United knew they had a lot of work to do and with the match time still at fifty-one minutes, they still had a lot of time left to do that, it was a matter of whether Unique FC would be able to stop them.
They started out pretty slowly at first but then they started to make quick movements up front with the idea of taking on their opponents in two versus one situations.
That was how Diego worked with Pelcao to get past Roland and send the ball in toward Roland with a low cross.
The striker had both Adolf around but somehow he managed to get his foot on the ball and fire it low toward the right side.
If he wanted to get past Dave then maybe he should have added a bit more shot power to that because the goalkeeper was able to quickly get to the ball on time to catch it with both of his gloves.
"Good shot from Roland but Dave has no trouble catching that."
"I miss the days when he wasn't this good." The striker sighed as he slowly moved back.
This time Dave didn't send the ball out immediately, he gave everyone to move back a little or maybe he was just wasting time.
Anyway, he had to send the ball out soon or he was going to get a yellow card from the referee so he quickly sent it flying toward the right.
He sent it flying to Minino who had to nod it over to Ferran just before Zlensky could get to him.
"Ferran."
Ferran quickly took off down the middle with Foden right behind him, he was starting to pull on his shirt when he quickly turned around with the ball and passed it to Minino who pushed it a little forward and then sent it flying over to the left.
"Trying to find Mateo here."
Michael quickly rushed out to try to win the aerial duel against the winger but Mateo managed to win it and he got the ball past him in doing so.
However, just before he could go any further with the ball, the right-back who just couldn't let him go ended up tackling from behind and that did not look good as the winger tumbled off to the side with his hand on his right leg.
The expression on his face showed just the level of pain he was feeling now.
The referee blew his whistle before reaching for his pocket as he made his way to the area.
He showed the wing back a second yellow before proceeding to show him a red.
His teammates tried to plead his case but there was no way he was going to listen to anything they said after what he saw.
Minino was surprisingly calm in this match, he didn't even look at Michael and made his way to Mateo who seemed to be sitting up on the floor now while Ferran went to have a word with the player who had already been sent off. Judging by the smug look on his face, he didn't have anything nice to say.
"Well, it looks like things just got tougher for Supreme United while they are still two goals down."
<Serves them right>
