Chapter 440 Just Incase
440 Just Incase
The first league meeting between Frono FC and Unique FC this season was at Frono where the Uniques went home with their first win of the season and handed their opponents their first loss of the season.
This time around, their opponents were going to be visiting them at home for their last league face-off of the season.
Frono FC were currently in eighth place looking for a way to rise while Unique FC were in first place at the moment, all they needed was for Supreme United to draw or lose their match that day while they beat Frono FC.
The fans were pretty glad to have the players back to put on another show for them just like they have been doing so far this season.
The players were still in the warm-up phase of the match at the moment but the atmosphere of the stadium was already getting pretty suffocating, suffocating in a good way of course.
Almost all the seats for Unique FC fans had been filled up with the melody from their anthem chants echoing around the stadium and while Unique FC players couldn't help but smile to all that, some Frono FC players were getting a bit intimidated.
This kind of atmosphere wasn't present when they traveled to Frono to face off against Frono FC.
The fans were getting better and better at their job and there was no doubt that it was part of what spiked up their performance this season.
"Here goes nothing!" Roland yelled before he quickly closed up on the ball which was just on the penalty spot and fired it at the goalpost.
It looked like he put all his power into the one shot as he sent it flying toward the right.
Dave went the right way but without the elevation as the ball ended up smashing right into the net.
"So much power in a penalty kick," Mateo uttered as he slowly made his way to the left back and placed his hand on his shoulder.
"Well, when you're not sure if you can outsmart the goalkeeper then you just go hard so that even if he gets his hands on it, there's a chance that it's going to go in." The left-back expressed.
"Yeah, you're right, but the problem is when you're in a match, you may end up getting overwhelmed because of all the pressure and that shot you planned to concentrate on a particular part of the goalpost may end up flying high and wild."
"Hey, you know I'm not one to crumble under pressure."
"Yeah, but the pressure you feel from just playing a match and the one you feel from taking a penalty, especially when it's one that will keep your team in the game or seal the victory for them," Mateo explained.
"Maybe that's true, but I'm sure I can handle it."
"Oh, really? Then why don't we make a deal?"
"Huh?"
"If we win a penalty in this match, I'll let you take it so that you can prove your point because I'm not getting your point."
Roland let out a sudden sigh before slowly removing his hand from his shoulder.
"Okay, then, I think I'll finally add another goal to my goal tally this season if we end up winning a penalty."
"Don't worry, we will."
"Hey, what are you two talking about?" Devon yelled from the side.
The two quickly turned their gaze to the goalpost as soon as they heard his voice to see that the ball was right on their noses now but it was only going to hit one person.
The unlucky one turned out to be Roland as the ball ended up smashing right into his face.
Minino was busy trying to take the ball off Ferran when he saw that and now he was on the floor laughing his ass out.
Dave was also trying to hold in his laughter as he slowly made his way to the left back but Mateo just shrugged before walking off to the side.
There were only a few minutes left now before the match kicked off, and because of that the players were asked to make their way down the tunnel to get ready for the match.
Now that Norman was this close to clinching first place with his team his hope of winning the league was getting brighter now and his determination was getting clearer, they just needed to go through this second half of the season while avoiding the few mistakes they made in the first half.
The players were all dressed in their home kit now which was the orange kit with black polka dots while Dave was on a lemon green kit.
After dressing up, they made their way to the exit where they met up with Frono FC players.
Frono FC were putting on their away kit which was a plain sky blue shirt but the shorts were more of white with a little bit of sky blue design, it was a good-looking kit, and their goalkeeper's red kit also looked nice.
They stayed there for a while before they were given the signal to start making their way to the pitch.
Just as they headed onto the pitch, the crowd erupted with cheers as Jim and Steve gave their introductions.
Norman was sticking with his trusty four-three-three formation.
Frono FC weren't pulling any punches either, they were also starting the match with the "Oh, it feels great to have Bilbeth Premier League football back, this season has been pretty wild so far for this league." Jim articulated.
"Yeah, Unique FC were in tenth place by this time last season, and fast forward to the same time this season and they're in second place just one point behind the league leaders, it feels really strange but they deserve it, they've worked really hard to be where they are so far this season and their fans are really proud of them I'm sure." Steve expressed.
The captains from both teams had to make their way to the match officials for the coin toss, and in the end, Unique FC ended up winning it.
"Just before the match kicks off, let us take a quick look at the lineups from both teams," Jim commented.
Looking at the lineups, Norman was pretty much going all out with his team.
He had in defense from the right; Norman, Adolf, Aima, and Roland.
In midfield, he had Martinez in the defensive position and then there was Ferran and Minino up front.
And then the attackers were Mateo on the left, Fredinho in the CF position, and Merino on the right.
Norman was sticking with his trusty four-three-three formation.
Frono FC weren't pulling any punches either, they were also starting the match with the four-three-three formation but with three central midfielders instead.
They had Darwin Shaw, Seth, and Ahmed on the pitch so they weren't holding anything back in trying to leave Unique City victorious.
"This is surely going to be an interesting match."
The match was about to kick off now as everyone quickly made their way to their positions.
Dave was making his way to his position when something suddenly popped up in front of him.
