Chapter 438 Back To Glory Hunting
"Hmm, are you planning on doing anything?"
The goalkeeper was done reading the hateful article, and now he wanted to find out if Emma was planning to do anything, he didn't want her to go and do something crazy on his behalf.
"Umm, there's not really much I can do but I'll try to put out something to try and clarify all the false claims."
After hearing her say that with a calm voice, he let out an inward sigh of relief.
"Okay." He said before slowly walking closer to her. "Don't worry about it."
"I'm not worried, things like this are inevitable in a life of a footballer, this one is quite wild but not really harming anyone so it's sort of okay." She explained. "I wonder who could have written something like that."
Dave kept his gaze on her for a while before slowly turning it to the stairs.
"Hey, do you have to go to work today?"
"No, I have a couple of things I have to finish here. Is there a problem?"
"No, I just wanted to know when you were going to be free today."
"When I'm going to be free? Are you planning on taking me somewhere?"
"Maybe? Are you going to be free today?"
"Umm, yeah, if I start on time, I should be done before noon."
"Well, that works then." He said before quickly making his way up the staircase.
_____ _____
When Dave said he wanted to take her somewhere, he had three places in mind but then he realized that two of those places weren't exactly that suitable during this time of the season but the last place also came with its problem.
He decided that they would go to a museum hoping that they would be fewer people there that day, but things didn't really turn out that we'll for him.
The goalkeeper was surrounded by a crowd of about twelve people while Emma was at the side with an amused look on her face.
They were all asking for autographs, and in the situation he was in right now, he had no choice but to give them all what they wanted.
There wasn't any security personnel in the area they were in at the moment so there was no one pushing them back and that meant that their number kept rising.
It took quite a while before they spotted what was going on and came to rescue the goalkeeper.
With the people now away from him, Dave could finally catch his breath, and when he turned his gaze to the left where he left Emma to see that she was no longer there.
He had to look straight to find her at the far end of the hallway and she happened to be talking to two people who were standing beside her.
It was when he got closer that he realized that those people were teenagers, a boy, and a girl and it didn't look like they were talking to her about the painting on the wall.
"Hey, you just left me over there to never come back, right?" He fumed as he slowly closed up on her.
"Woooah." The young boy gasped in excitement as his eyes were suddenly stuck on the goalkeeper's face. "You're Dave Richards?"
"Dave? You mean the goalkeeper for Unique FC?" The young girl said before turning his gaze to the goalkeeper.
"Hey, miss, how come you didn't tell us that you were here with him?" The young boy inquired after turning his gaze to her.
"Um….well, now you know," Emma replied with an awkward expression on her face.
"So, are you guys like siblings or something?" The young girl asked.
After hearing the young girl ask that question, Dave slowly turned his gaze to Emma before shaking his head. "No."
"You're on a date?"
"Close but still no."
"Wait, close? You're a married couple?"
"Yeah," Emma replied with a nod.
"I had no idea, we haven't been in this city for that long." The young boy said before turning his gaze back to Dave.
"Oh, so you two are siblings?"
"Yeah, she's my big sister."
Hearing him say that, Emma couldn't help but smile as she suddenly thought back to those days when they got asked questions like this and Mateo would give the exact same response.
The boy ended up asking for an autograph from the goalkeeper as expected but the sister wasn't bothered and kept on talking with Emma.
However, they had to go their separate ways soon, and with the siblings now gone, the couple continued their tour inside the museum.
_______ _______
Dave thought pretty hard to try and come up with where they were going to spend their vacation in Germany, and in the end, he chose Frankfurt.
His reason was that if this club was going to be a club he might move to in the future then he had to see how the city was other than what he was told.
He made his way to Frankfurt with Emma on Monday to see how the city was going to be for him.
Unlike in Unique City, he didn't need to cover his face most of the time because rarely anyone knew him over there and that made sense.
Frankfurt was indeed one of the best cities in Germany. The people were quite welcoming to them, the ones they met at least and the streets were always lively and bustling with people, especially during nighttime.
There were also a couple of days when it snowed but it wasn't much snow like the ones that would cover an entire road.
The goalkeeper really enjoyed his stay there and Christmas was just the best part of it.
He also went to a Frankfurt game he went to and watched them destroy Wolfsburg four goals to one.
He wasn't there for anything contract related so he tried his best to stay out of it.
At the end of his two weeks stay there, he made up his mind that if Frankfurt was his only option for a club to move to at the end of the season then he wouldn't have any problem moving here.
With his vacation now over, Dave had to return home to see the rest of the season through and the same could be said about all his teammates who traveled to different parts of the world for their vacation.
Mateo went to Spain just like he said, Minino went to Greece and the others went to different other places.
They've had their fun to the fullest and now it was time to return to their glory hunting.
The fans and their coach were just hoping that they hadn't lost their edge and even if that was the case, he was going to get them back into shape in one training session.
The players were in that training session right now and it wasn't exactly the training session they were used to.
Push-ups, pull-ups, and other forms of exercise that required them to exert a good portion of their physical strength was what Norman was imposing on them at the moment and well, they didn't feel bad about it, they needed to build their physicality after all.
