Chapter 418 On Par Accuracy
Chapter 418 On Par Accuracy
"My most embarrassing moment on the pitch, I think it was in the match against Ballena United. We won that but there was this moment when the ball was sent in from a corner kick.
"I brought it down with his chest, and just before I could do anything with it, it was taken away from me by one of their defenders and when I tried to take the ball back from him, he just nutmegged me and kept moving forward with, he did it so effortlessly that I had to slow down for a bit." The winger articulated with a little chuckle.
"I don't think that was as bad as you made it sound but then again, you do that to a lot of players so it's nice to see you getting a taste of your own medicine." The lady said with a smile before turning her gaze to Minino. "What about you, Minino?"
"Well, you have the clip just play it." The midfielder said before bending down a little bit to reach the floor with both of his hands.
"Ooh, I thought you were going to try and convince me to not play it." She said.
"If nobody saw it, yeah, but a whole lot of people has already seen it so you might as well show it to them again." He said before letting out a sigh as he returned to his normal sitting posture on his seat.
"Alright, then." She said before clicking the button to play the footage on the screen.
The footage that was being shown now was one of Unique FC's first match of the season which was against Frono FC.
with Minino heading toward him at that time.
"Wait, it happened against Frono FC?" Dave said sounding quite amused.
The ball was sent flying toward Seth down the middle in midfield with Minino heading toward him at that time.
He was planning to overwhelm the winger with his aggressiveness, but that didn't work out quite well for him.
He got close to the winger the exact moment he touched the ball with his chest, and before he could even try to take it from him, the winger sent the ball flying over him with an overhead kick.
"Oooh." Their host gasped as soon as she saw that.
Seth could have just moved forward with the ball or passed it to any of his teammates after getting past Minino with it but it's not like Minino gave him much freedom to do that anyway.
The midfielder stubbornly got up from the floor and quickly made his way to the winger to stop him.
There was no way he could take this embarrassment without actually getting the ball but things didn't go quite well for him.
The winger dragged him around for a while on the field which was just embarrassing before eventually nutmegging him and finding one of his teammates on the right wing.
That was where the clip ended, and unlike when Mateo explained his most embarrassing moment on the pitch, none of them could contain their laughter.
Mateo was covering his mouth to contain himself and avoid exploding with uncontrollable laughter and Dave was hiding his face behind his seat.
Their host of course was covering her face with the card she was holding.
"I can't believe I didn't see that in the match," Dave said after pulling his face back up.
"I think I saw it but I was too worried about what was going on and how they were moving the ball forward to care about it, watching it now just makes it ten times funnier." The winger expressed still trying to hold back his laughter.
"Yeah, all of you laugh at my embarrassment," Minino muttered.
"Do you mind playing it again, Laura?" Mateo requested.
"Um…sure," Laura said before playing the clip again.
Minino tried to object to that but she didn't listen to him.
They watched the clip again with Minino covering his face with his hand and although Dave wasn't feeling that much anymore it was still funny and Mateo had to put his face down to hide it from the camera while laughing.
"The cat in this clip was not a tiger, it was just a normal pet cat." The winger said after bringing his head up. "Oh, I think I just found something to watch every night before going to bed."
"Oh, dear, that was pretty funny. I wonder how Dave's will compare to that," Laura said. "So, Dave, what was your most embarrassing moment on the pitch this season?"
"Um…there have been a couple of embarrassing moments on the pitch but I can't really call anyone my most embarrassing moment because I don't think any of them were that embarrassing." The goalkeeper disclosed.
<Are you sure about that?>
"Uh, so you can't make a choice," Minino said before turning his gaze to Laura. "Why don't you help him choose, Laura?"
The grin on his face as he said that was an indication that he knew something.
<You could have just said something>
'Huh? What are you talking about?'
<Don't worry, you'll see, it won't hurt you>
After browsing through the clips for a while, she finally found the one, and without hesitation, she played it.
The clip seemed to be one from the match between Unique FC and Spree City.
A corner kick was sent flying into the box of Unique FC and slid past the head of one of the opposing players to fall in front of Dave.
After watching the clip that far, Dave suddenly remembered the match and realized what was about to happen.
"Oh, dear." He muttered before covering his face with his hand.
<Don't worry it won't hurt you>
Dave was about to grab the ball in front of him when Aima suddenly pulled up to clear it so the goalkeeper ended up grabbing him by his leg and pulling him down ignoring the ball.
That could have been a disastrous moment for them but luckily, Roland was able to get to the ball fast enough to clear it before anything happened.
This one wasn't really as funny as Minino's but it was still really funny to see a goalkeeper drag down his teammate inside the box.
Minino tried to make it funnier than it seemed with his laughter but all Mateo could do was chuckle as he waved his head.
"You just went for his leg and grabbed him, I was right there and I didn't even catch that." The winger muttered before putting his head down.
"Well, Aima got up quickly just as you turned," Laura said before pointing to the spot.
"Now you know how I felt, Dave," Minino said before turning his gaze to Dave who had his hand on his cheek.
"Yeah, that was pretty embarrassing but it's nothing compared to what Seth did to you."
"Yeah, you're right." The midfielder said with a little chuckle.
After that, Laura went on to ask them a couple more questions some of them were for laughs and some of them were serious topics, in the aspect of football of course.
It was obvious from the smile on the faces of the players that they really enjoyed being there that day and Laura was quite glad that he picked the three of them to come together because their vibe was quite infectious and that made the show really enjoyable.
______ ______
Tuesday came by soon, and that was the day the players were going to be returning to training because of their match against Lazio on Thursday.
The training session for that day was set to kick off by 11:00 AM, and before that time, everyone who was supposed to be there was already there.
Norman started things off by telling them what their training routine was going to be for that day, and after that, they jumped straight into it.
Everyone looked quite cheerful and energetic, maybe it was because of the few days off, or maybe it was because their condition had changed drastically from what it was last to what they were doing this season competing for all these competitions while being at the top of their game most of the time at least.
After thirty minutes of non-stop training, the players had to take a quick break, but while they were all busy resting, Dave was still on the pitch.
He just wasn't feeling tired, at least not yet.
He lined up five balls about twenty-five yards away from the goalpost, and now, it was time to see how much his accuracy had improved.
Everyone had their gaze on him as he sent the first one flying, and it ended up hitting the crossbar right at the angle before falling into the goalpost.
The second successfully hit the crossbar right in the middle before falling off, the third one followed the same route and the fourth one managed to scrape the crossbar before falling off but that still counted as a hit.
The fifth one was so close to hitting the crossbar, it only missed the target by a few inches as it fell into the goalpost.
At this point, this wasn't really a surprise to his teammates but there was one person who still couldn't get over that feeling that something was wrong somewhere.
"His growth is quite unnatural but if he's not doping then what is it," Jonas muttered.
<Well, it looks like your accuracy is slightly on par with Mateo's now>
'Hmm, that's cool, is there anything else.'
<Yeah, Roland has more pace than you now, he's back to being the fastest player on the pitch without the ball, Mateo is still the fastest with the ball>
'He finally got past me, I guess that's expected but all have to do to surpass him again is just add a bunch of stat points to my dexterity.'
[ Unused stat points: 35 ]
<You're not really going to do that, are you?>
