My Goalkeeping System

Chapter 38 Head Injury

Ferran had slowly gotten up back on his feet after about ten minutes of the medical team applying treatment on the affected leg.

"Oh, he's limping but it doesn't look like it's something serious, maybe just a little discomfort," Jim said.

"Or a little strain," Steve said.

It was good news for Unique FC that Ferran had not gone off with an injury.

There were cheers and applause from the fans as they were glad to see Ferran back on his feet.

"I'm glad he's okay," Mateo said with a sigh of relief as he crashed back on his seat.

"We all are." Roland Ryle said.

With Ferran back on his feet and finally beginning to walk well, the game had resumed and it was time for Unique FC to take their penalty kick.

"Now who's going to take the kick?" Jim said.

It looked like Fred was going to be the one to take the kick as he had stepped up toward the ball after having a little talk with Carlos.

"It looks like Fred Miles is going to be the one to take the kick," Steve said.

"Well, that makes sense, Unique FC has gotten a total of ten penalty kicks this season excluding this one, he took seven of those penalty kicks successfully converting all of them," Jim said.

The referee made sure that all the other players were a little distance behind him as Fred stepped up to take the penalty kick.

"Fred is going to take the kick now, can he successfully convert it and get Unique FC their equalizer?" That was a question from Jim to everyone in the stadium.

The referee blew his whistle as Fred let out a deep sigh before quickly making his way to the ball and driving it to the bottom left-hand corner.

Andreas had predicted his shot as he quickly dived toward the ball and with the tip of his glove, tipped it out for a corner kick.

"He's saved it, Andrea has prevented Unique FC from taking the lead!" Jim exclaimed with a surprised tone to his voice.

The goalkeeper's teammates quickly rushed to him with yells as Fred stared at the spot with a shocked expression on his face.

The guest fans were screaming in excitement now after witnessing that save from Andrea but they all seemed to be forgetting one thing, the referee had not blown his whistle since the ball had rolled over for a corner kick.

He walked straight to the goalkeeper and showed him a yellow card.

The players were confused until he started pointing at the goal line.

"Oh, it looks like that won't count, Andrea seemed to have moved out of his goal line before Fred took that shot," Jim said.

The replay played on the large screen hanging over the stadium to show Andrea moving out of his goal line before Fred took that shot.

"He was clearly out of his goal line there," Jim said.

"Yeah, Fred is going to have to retake that," Steve said.

That was quite a bummer as the noise from the guest fans had reduced after Andrea's save had gotten overruled.

The ball was placed back on the penalty spot as the players moved behind him.

"He has been given another chance, screwing this up is not an option," Jim said.

"Yeah Jim, but anything can happen," Steve said.

The referee blew his whistle as Fred took two steps backward before quickly racing toward it.

The first time, he had drilled a shot at the bottom left-hand corner but this time he had sent the ball toward the right side of the net with a powerful shot.

Andrea was glued to the spot as the ball flew into the back of the net.

"And he's got the equalizer!" Jim screamed.

Norman quickly jumped up from where he was standing on the sideline as Mateo quickly sprang up from his seat in excitement.

The fans broke into cheers as his teammates gathered around him to celebrate the goal.

"They are back in the game now and with Ronino FC having a one-man deficiency, things may start looking different in the match.

'Yes!' Dave screamed subconsciously as he raised his hand in excitement.

<Now all you have to do is make sure that the ball doesn't get past you again, they are one man down so this match should be easier for you guys now>

The match had resumed as Ronino FC's coach had removed one of his midfielders and replaced him with a defender to strengthen their defense again but now they just had four midfielders on the pitch.

The right Midfielder squared a pass to one of the central midfielders as Edward quickly rushed to him to try and dispossess him but before he could get to him, he had passed the ball to Sandro who moved forward a little before passing the ball to the left Midfielder.

His path was blocked by Norman Kole so he sent the ball back to Sandro after trying to find a way past the right back without succeeding.

Pirlo quickly rushed toward Sandro just as the ball was heading toward him but the striker wasn't planning to touch the ball as he used a dummy to get rid of the center-back.

"Waoooh! That's clever!" Jim exclaimed.

Adolf rushed to clear the ball before Sandro could get to it but the striker had gotten to the ball first and with a powerful shot, sent it flying toward the goalpost, not everybody could take a shot like that from that far out.

"He's taken the shot!"

The ball flew toward the bottom right-hand right hand corner as Dave quickly dived toward the ball.

He got the tip of his glove to it and pushed it out a little as it hit the crossbar and rolled over the line for a corner kick

"What a save!" Jim exclaimed. "Where is this form from Dave coming from? Honestly, I thought that was going to go in."

"Yeah, that was a stupendous save," Jim said. "Looks like he is beginning to build a form."

Emma had quickly gotten up to applaud him for that save and it didn't take long before a few other fans joined her to applaud the goalkeeper.

The ball had gone out for a corner kick now as one of Ronino FC's midfielders who had the name Zen written on the back of his jersey above the number eight.

"Zen is going to be the one taking the corner kick," Jim said.

"This could be a chance for them to do something," Steve said.

"Yeah, as long as Sandro is in that box, anything can happen," Jim said.

The referee blew his whistle as Zen moved back a little before running toward the ball to send it flying into the box.

Sandro rose above all the other players including Adolf to meet the ball.

Dave had predicted that something like this was going to happen as he dived toward the ball to hit it out to prevent the striker from getting a head on it but it was already too late.

Sandro sent the ball flying into the net just before the goalkeeper could get his hand on it.

The referee blew his whistle and pointed at the kick-off spot as soon as the ball fell into the net as the guest fans quickly burst into screams of joy.

Sandro quickly rushed to the sideline to do the sliding celebration as his teammates quickly ran after him.

"What a goal!" Jim exclaimed. "He rose above everybody to get that ball in the net, what a player."

"Yeah, what a marvelous goal and Unique FC had been put behind again by ten men Ronino," Steve said.

Unique FC players were gathered around Dave now as he had his face on the floor while waddling his feet, it seemed like he was in pain here.

"What's the problem, Dave?" Ferran asked, squatting beside him.

The midfielder slowly lifted his head and immediately let out a loud gasp as the goalkeeper's forehead was covered with blood.

"Minino, tell the medical team to get over here!" Ferran turned to the midfielder to yell.

"What's going on?" Dave asked.

"It seems like Dave Richards is down," Steve said.

The medical team quickly made their way to the goalkeeper to see what was going on.

"Dave," Emma said with a gasp as she stood up to get a clearer view of what was going on.
