Chapter 50 - Divine Body Realm, Young Animals
Chapter 50: Divine Body Realm, Young Animals
Di Baijun gave a muffled grunt and said no more.
After watching for another few seconds, the look in their eyes suddenly changed again.
A great distance away, in the capital, Dong Pingtao and Chen Jianguo also jumped to their feet.
Everyone who saw what had happened also had a change of expression.
Roar~!
An even shriller and even more horrifying roar rang out in the distorted world passage, and then another monster appeared in the rippling sky.
It looked the same as the other one, except bigger and taller. Its wings were over 40 meters long, and it was over 20 meters tall. A faint black aura seemed to circulate around the surface of its pitch-black body.
“What the hell, that monster’s even bigger!”
“It’s all over. Hurry, run!”
“Where’s the military? Why aren’t they here yet? That one’s even scarier!”
…
“Hurry and analyze how strong that monster is.” Dong Pingtao’s voice became a notch more anxious.
Someone made a sound of acknowledgment. A look of hesitation appeared in Chen Jianguo’s eyes, but he nevertheless asked gravely, “Should we activate missile-targeting?”
‘Missile-targeting’ was the act of dropping a missile from the air—in other words, taking aim from a great distance away and firing a missile at the target. Another term that the public would be more familiar with was ‘missile-cleaning[1]’.
However, they absolutely didn’t want to do that unless they truly had no choice.
It was just that he was duty-bound to bring up the suggestion.
Dong Pingtao lifted his hand, staying silent as he kept a close watch on the monster that had newly appeared in the world passage.
Roar~!
“Divine Body Realm!”
A hint of gravity appeared in Di Baijun’s voice. She seemed to be talking to herself, though it was more like she was talking to Wang Hu.
Her words shocked Wang Hu. Having already guessed the truth somewhat, he found himself with an even heavier heart now.
Roar~!
“The Third Realm is called the Divine Body Realm? What is the Divine Body Realm like?”
Roar~!
“You’ll naturally know when you get there,” replied a crabby Di Baijun.
Wang Hu turned rather contemplative.
The Divine Body Realm!
He kept feeling as if it was alluding to something, and yet he was a step short of identifying it.
This wasn’t the time to be thinking about that, however. He had a grave and cautious look in his eyes as he spoke.
Roar~!
“Even someone as strong as the Divine Body Realm has appeared. It’s no longer safe here. Let’s leave with Big Treasure and Little Treasure first.”
He didn’t know how strong the Divine Body Realm was, but he knew that he could reach Hu County in around ten minutes if he wanted to.
He reckoned that the Divine Body Realm monster wouldn’t be slow either. After all, it even had wings.
He didn’t want to take a gamble on whether it would find them or not, or whether there would be even more monsters coming or not. Neither could he afford to take that sort of gamble.
Though rather frustrated and dejected, Di Baijun didn’t object to the suggestion and got ready to do just that.
The next moment, however, her brows drew together, and she spoke with astonishment and uncertainty.
Roar~!
“Eh? It looks like that ugly thing can’t come out?”
Taken aback, Wang Hu took a close look… upon which he then realized that the monster indeed hadn’t come out and was baring its fangs and brandishing its claws right in the world passage.
At the same time, Dong Pingtao and Chen Jianguo also realized the same thing. They couldn’t help but heave a sigh of relief.
How fortunate!
“Looks like that monster has already surpassed the Second Realm. Since he can’t come out, then that means that the world passage’s rules are also effective in China.” Chen Jianguo’s voice relaxed a little, though it also sounded somewhat resigned.
China was where the spiritual energy density level was the highest. While this was something positive, it also had its own cons.
Alternate world beings mustn’t be stronger than the corresponding spiritual energy density level on Earth if they wanted to enter.
In other words, out of the whole world, it was the world passages in China that would allow stronger existences to enter Earth.
Weal and woe indeed came as a set.
Dong Pingtao nodded. It was great as long as that monster couldn’t enter China. Otherwise, they might really be in deep trouble.
The research institute’s report also came in at this point.
“Our preliminary judgment is that the newly-appeared monster in the world passage is likely a Third Realm one.
“According to the information that we currently have, our preliminary judgment is that the one that appeared first and created trouble is at peak-level Second Realm.”
“Peak-level Second Realm…” Chen Jianguo’s frown deepened, and he asked solemnly, “How sure are you?”
“Only 40% sure. The monster has attacked too few times,” replied the person delivering the report seriously.
“Continue to analyze it and do everything you can to find its weakness,” ordered Chen Jianguo solemnly.
“Understood.”
Dong Pingtao thought for a moment and then, he said calmly, “Spread the news about how that monster cannot come out and calm the people down first.”
Chen Jianguo hesitated for a moment but didn’t object to it.
…
Elsewhere…
Roar~!
“Why can’t he come out, Baijun?” asked a puzzled Wang Hu.
Di Baijun didn’t answer him. As she watched the video closely, a White Tiger hologram also seemed to surface in her eyes.
She kept her silence even after a brief moment. Her brows had already locked into a deep frown, and she felt rather frustrated.
She couldn’t tell much through the cell phone alone when she wasn’t present on-site.
A few seconds later, Wang Hu vaguely realized it and didn’t bring it up anymore.
Roughly another three minutes later, when the Divine Body Realm monster seemed to realize that it couldn’t enter Earth and thus withdrew from the world passage, he received a notification for another piece of news on his cell phone.
Wang Hu took a casual glance at it and then immediately opened it: the notification had come directly from the Chinese government.
Roar~!
“Look at this, Baijun.”
Hints of surprise and relief that were previously not there entered his voice.
Di Baijun had also seen the news. Her eyes were filled with puzzlement and musing.
Those stronger than the corresponding spiritual energy density level in the other world were unable to pass through world passages!
While such a situation certainly existed, it was undoubtedly not the norm.
Just like how gigantic beasts in the ocean wouldn’t enter shallow waters, the strong indeed typically wouldn’t go to low-grade worlds either.
Even if they did, their strength would also be affected to a certain extent due to insufficient spiritual energy.
However, they definitely wouldn’t be unable to pass through world passages.
A situation like this only happened under a strong expert’s deliberate influence.
Some of her past concerns welled up within her once more. What exactly was going on in China?
Netizens and northeastern Hu County citizens, who had initially been in an even bigger panic, breathed a small sigh of relief at this point.
That particular piece of news was forcibly sent to the public so a lot of people had managed to see it. As it spread further and further, most people became informed that the newly-appeared monster was unable to enter China.
Although it was as strong as the so-called Third Realm and was incredibly fearsome, it was fine as long as it couldn’t enter China.
The military troops would arrive in another twenty minutes or so, and they would be able to exterminate the first monster then.
At this point, as Wang Hu—who had already dismissed thoughts of retreating—continued to watch the ongoing event, a thought soundlessly formed in his mind.
His eyes bore hard into the monster that was still in the midst of sampling its ‘delicacy’. A peak-level Transformation Realm monster, a Third Realm monster that was unable to leave the world passage… and the Chinese military that would arrive very soon…
Ideas surged in his mind, and his pupils constricted a little.
If… I attack and kill that monster…
How big of a favor would China owe me, then?
Given the public opinion, unless I really become enemies with China, they’ll likely never do anything against his family anymore in the future.
Even if he went on to dominate a region in the future, it was likely that the other party would give in a little.
As he mused over it, he couldn’t help but gradually become tempted by the idea.
If he really killed the monster, then he truly wouldn’t need to worry about China suddenly attacking him and his family anymore.
Foreign countries could also forget about having ideas about him and his family.
As he blinked, out of his peripheral vision, he noticed the gravity in Silly Girl’s expression.
His thoughts suddenly came to a halt.
No, if I kill that monster, my full capabilities would undoubtedly become exposed.
This was the case for Silly Girl, as well as with the Chinese humans.
Disregarding Silly Girl’s attitude toward him for now—although it wouldn’t be much of an issue, he would probably lose the benefit of fighting with her.
Furthermore, what was he to do if the Chinese humans had a brain fart and became nervous about him after witnessing how strong he was, resulting in them wanting to kill him?
Even if they had reservations about public opinion, they could just quietly get rid of him!
Although the chances of this happening were extremely low, it didn’t mean that it didn’t exist.
No, he mustn’t take such a risk.
Besides, who could be sure that there was only that one Transformation Realm monster?
One must act steadily.
Being steady and cautious was what mattered the most.
The caution that he kept constantly in mind during the last ten-odd years came into play once more.
He internally suppressed the thought and continued to watch quietly.
Another one to two minutes later, just as speculations were abuzz on the Internet, the monster suddenly discarded the ‘delicacy’ in its hand. It shifted its gaze to a certain direction, its eyes bright and shiny.
It flapped its wings and moved at extremely high speed. Within a single breath, it had arrived somewhere where crowds were chaotic and the whole place was unbearable to behold—Hu County Elementary School.
In an instant, a mix of fearful and horror-stricken screaming and crying rang out at the main gate that was already in utter chaos from the start.
“The monster has come! Quick, run!”
“Miao Miao, hurry! Hurry up!”
“Daddy! Mommy! I’m scared!”
……
……
Blood covered the whole place.
Dead silence filled the Internet.
Dong Pingtao and Chen Jianguo’s expressions couldn’t help but change this time.
“Dammit, I’m going to kill that thing.”
“F*ck you, you motherf*cking bastard.”
“Dammit! That beast! We have to kill it! Kill it!”
…
…
A brief period of silence later, various livestream channels exploded like erupting volcanoes. An infinite amount of anger was vented via words.
Almost everyone that saw what had happened was utterly enraged.
Dong Pingtao’s breathing turned a few notches heavier, and his voice turned cold. He asked, “Where’s the local police? Why haven’t they arrived? We must keep that monster outside the school at all costs.
“Also, why didn’t anyone take the school into consideration?”
“Understood.” A voice rang out. Then, it added guiltily, “It’s our fault.”
“Should we cut off the live broadcast? It seems like that monster likes eating chil…” Chen Jianguo’s voice had also turned cold.
It was very clear what he meant—the situation had changed.
Nobody had expected the monster to actually go off and eat children and block off the school right at the main gates when there were so many adults around.
Due to a complete lack of knowledge about the monster, no one had thought that deeply about it. Of course, it was pointless even if they had because there was simply not enough time.
It was to the extent that they simply couldn’t shift the children elsewhere at all.
On top of that, with a whole school full of children that couldn’t escape, how was the military supposed to deal with it?
Once any accidents happened…
Dong Pingtao was silent for a couple of seconds before he asked, “Ask the squad currently heading over whether they are confident of exterminating the monster while ensuring the children’s safety.”
“Understood.”
In front of the cell phone, for some reason, Wang Hu—who had originally been watching quietly—actually felt the urge to look away in that instant. He had obviously already become accustomed to bloodshed a long time ago, and yet…
Awooo, awooo~!
“Mommy, the human babies! Sob!”
“Big Treasure’s scared! Sob!”
Big Treasure and Little Treasure’s crying rang out. Wang Hu snapped back to reality with a startle, as did Di Baijun; and they blocked their lines of sight together.
Two pairs of tiger eyes made eye contact, both seeing the intense loathing and iciness in each other’s eyes.
Wang Hu also suddenly realized that it seemed like he had never hunted an animal’s young again ever since Big Treasure and Little Treasure came into his life.
Furthermore, these were two cubs with intelligence.
[1] The term ‘cleaning’ refers to the act of cleaning out the whole area, i.e. wiping out everything in the area
