Chapter 18: The confrontation against the boss monster begins. [Bonus chapter]
"Seriously... seriously, we're not going to face that," Richard stammered with a dark expression, pointing to the massive shadow of the spider that had just appeared in the boss's living room.
David and Cristina slowly approached Richard, who was visibly frightened at the sight of such a monster.
"Let's execute the plan. When I say, you shoot them with the arrows and we're out of here," David whispered, and they nodded, although they were still nervous about the enormous pressure emanating from the spider. They began to walk away as slowly as possible to avoid being detected by Erik and Violet.
Thomas, watching David and the others walk away, was about to scream. But before he could do so, Richard ran up to him and, in the blink of an eye, was in front of him, covering his mouth.
"Be quiet if you want to live," Richard whispered in his ear. Thomas resisted, forcing and biting Richard's hand in an attempt to free himself, but...
"You damned slave, how dare you bite me, don't you know I'm the son of the guild leader, ahh, you fucker!"
Richard couldn't finish speaking when he felt Thomas trying to bite his finger off.
"Damn, I warned you!"
Richard thrust his sword into Thomas' body, who couldn't utter a scream. Richard's hand was stained with a crimson liquid, as was his blade. Thomas' eyes gradually lost their luster, until he finally stopped breathing.
"Goddamn it! That's why I told you to shut up, you wretched slave," Richard snarled.
He spat on Thomas' limp body in disgust as he examined his deep red stained hand.
"I just stained my hands with that wretched slave's blood!" exclaimed Richard, wiping them clean. Then he walked back over to where David and Christina were standing.
The thick cloud of dust began to slowly dissipate, revealing the spider's true form. Once the cloud dissipated completely, only a huge spider remained four and a half meters in size, sending chills all over the bodies of Erik and Violet, who were closest to it.
"Get ready!" shouted Violet looking back, but the moment she did, her expression darkened completely. She looked back to where she had entered the place and was met with the broad smiles of David, Richard, and Cristina. He read on their lips the words, 'Good luck surviving'.
"Why were you suddenly silent?" asked Erik as he noticed that she had gone still, but he quickly realized the reason behind her silence.
'So this was how I felt. Well, anyway, we have to deal with this monster first,' Erik thought. Then he looked coldly in the direction of David, who flinched as he met his gaze.
"Now, break down the entrance!" shouted David after connecting his gaze with Erik's. He felt like he was going to die if he continued to stare into those eyes.
Christina launched arrows charged with magical power at the edges of the entrance.
Boom!
The entire entrance began to collapse after the arrows charged with magical power exploded. The entrance was completely sealed, leaving Erik and Violet completely alone with the monster inside.
"So what do we do now?" asked Christina as she saw the entrance completely sealed.
"We wait until the huge spider kills them," answered David walking away from the entrance.
"But what if they survive?" commented Richard, who had placed a piece of rag on his finger that Thomas almost ripped off.
"It's not impossible for them to survive the boss monster, so there's no need to worry."
"But if there is a chance..."
"If that happens, they'll be completely exhausted, and we'll take advantage of that to kill them. We have their items, any more questions?"
"None."
David nodded with a smile. It was unlikely that a mage and a spearman would survive without the help of a tank to take on a boss monster.
David was absolutely certain they wouldn't survive this and he would get that spear which seemed quite unique. He had never seen a spear like that in his life, and even if he didn't have the spear, he would have done the same thing, as he was used to doing it for a long time. He had even forgotten the number of people he had defeated in this way.
That's why he wasn't worried about them surviving, since to him, it was impossible for them to do so. He even noticed that this boss monster was not normal, so he was completely sure that they would die.
....
'Now that they're gone, I can use my End Energy without worry, but what do I do with this woman,' Erik thought as he looked at the sealed entrance. Then he looked at Violet, who was still frozen with betrayal.
"Hey, wake up. If you stay still, you'll die," he warned.
"And what am I moving for if I'm going to die anyway?" she replied resignedly.
'Tsk! This woman gave up so easily,' Erik thought as he noticed the lack of will in her. He hadn't expected the betrayal to affect her so much. He had already expected it from the moment he said they would go to the front, so he wasn't that affected.
At that moment, distracted, the creature launched a powerful attack with one of its legs.
"Kyyyyeeee!!!!!"
"Shit!" exclaimed Erik, and with a swift movement he pulled Violet's robe.
?BOOM!
The place shook hard and some stones started to fall from the ceiling due to the vibration of the attack.
'Shit, if I had delayed one more second, she would have died.'
Slap!
"Woman, react! Now is not the time to be depressed or whatever you're thinking!" shouted Erik after slapping her hard. Then she jumped again to dodge the next attack.
Boom!
"Damn you, why did you hit me so hard, can't you see that I'm a woman?", Violet was left, rubbing her cheek scarred by Erik's hand.
"Looks like you're finally reacting," Erik mentioned, overlooking the complaint. Then he added, "Get ready to face the monster boss."
"But will we be able to defeat him?"
"Yes."
"But how can you be so..."
Violet didn't get to finish her sentence before Erik shoved her away.
Boom!
The ground cratered from the strong attack of the spider, who was beginning to get irritated that none of her attacks were hitting their targets.
"So what are we going to do to defeat it?" asked Violet in a calmer tone.
"What is the most powerful attack he can cast?" inquired Erik, as a white aura began to envelop his spear.
"Right now, the most you can cast is a high-level spell."
"And how long will it take you to conjure it?"
"I think about five minutes."
"Then get started on the spell."
"But are you sure?"
"Just do it!"
Violet began to conjure her spell, unleashing immense magical power. The pressure around her increased, her hair defied gravity and so did the nearby stones.
Erik watched all this in amazement. He had not expected this woman to possess such an amount of magical power.
'This woman is truly fascinating,' Erik thought, and little by little his opinion began to change as he witnessed the immense power emanating from her.
The huge spider sensed how the magical energy of the surroundings was concentrated in a single point. Her instincts warned her that something was going to happen, and it wasn't a good thing for her.
"Kyyyyyyyeee!"
A high-pitched scream echoed, visibly shaking everything around her. Erik focused on the spider and decided to put his new ability to the test.
"[Curse of the Chaining]" exclaimed Erik with a smile. At that precise instant, all his reserves were completely depleted after activating his ability.
Instantly, numerous portals opened around the spider, from which chains began to emerge.
Ching! Ching! Ching! Ching! Ching!
These chains coiled around the spider's eight legs, completely restricting its movements.
"Kyyyyyyyee!"
The spider struggled in a desperate attempt to free itself, but it was immobilized.
Erik fell to his knees and turned his gaze to the back, where he saw Violet completely focused on the spell. With a great effort, she stood up, as sweat began to slide down her face.
"Gasp... I didn't expect this ability to leave me so exhausted."
The spider, seeing that it couldn't move one of its maws, began to release a green gas that began to melt the surrounding walls. It was spreading all over the place, destroying everything in its path. Slime also began to fall from its mouth, which, when it made contact with the ground, left a huge hole.
"And now how am I defending myself from this?"
At that moment, an idea popped into his head. He quickly opened the window and headed down. He used his Fenrir Points on his stats.
[You have spent five Fenrir Points on 'Stats'.]
