Chapter 23 - Leftovers
Xia Jing hurriedly took out her phone to contact Su Wan.
Su Wan’s message came into view.
[Xiaxia, I bought the bill. I’m going home now. Sorry.]
Xia Jing’s anger was rising!
Her face was twisted with anger!
She stormed out of the washroom, grabbed her bag, and left the dining table! She had actually forgotten that this restaurant had a side entrance!
As she made the call, she looked around for Su Wan!
Jing Chen noticed this situation and frowned deeply. He did not carefully listen to Bai Lian’s words at all.
Bai Lian’s expression turned cold. “Jing Chen, did you hear me? What are you thinking about?”
Jing Chen did not react at all!
Bai Lian couldn’t help but wave her hand in front of him and said angrily, “Jing Chen! Why didn’t you refute that woman just now? Why did you tolerate what she said?”
This was not Jing Chen’s style at all!
Bai Lian’s angry voice raised a few decibels, causing everyone to look up.
Jing Chen snapped out of his trance and scanned the room coldly. Finally, his gaze landed on Bai Lian’s face. He suppressed his anger and said impatiently, “You’re so noisy today.”
With that, he stood up and left without any mercy.
Bai Lian looked at him in panic and tried to stop him, but Jing Chen quickly walked out of the door Xia Jing left.
Bai Lian, who was rooted to the ground, looked at her wheelchair. She opened her mouth and tears flowed down her face.
She had asked Lin Xiu to wait outside for the sake of their date. If she contacted Lin Xiu now to push her, it would be too late!
Jing Chen must have been gone already.
They could not catch up anymore!
The high wall of security that she had painstakingly built suddenly collapsed.
She covered her face, feeling extremely ashamed and resentful, especially when there were some barely discernible gazes around her, she lost all her pride!
How humiliating!
It was all Su Wan’s fault!
Originally, she didn’t need to do anything…
But from the looks of it, that was not the case.
Bai Lian stared straight ahead expressionlessly, staring at the spot where Jing Chen was sitting just now. She gritted her teeth.
…
Su Wan came out of the restaurant and walked aimlessly for a long time. Her eyes were empty, and her entire person was extremely weak. She had lost all her energy, and her support was gone.
So much so that the people walking past her looked puzzled and worried.
She didn’t know where it was, but an old granny looked back and forth at her for a long time. She was walking in the opposite direction, but the old granny followed her for a while. When she noticed Su Wan’s odd behavior, she quickly went up and asked, “Miss, where are you going?”
Su Wan looked at her blankly and shook her head, ready to continue walking.
The days and nights that she spent with Jing Chen flashed like a slideshow in her mind!
It made her dizzy.
“Miss! Don’t go over there. It’s been demolished and there’s no one there. It’s not safe for a lady like you to wear something like this, do you know that?” The granny persuaded her earnestly and even reached out to grab Su Wan.
Su Wan’s entire body trembled violently when someone touched her, and her pupils trembled!
It was as if she had received a great shock!
This time, the old granny was so scared that she didn’t dare to say anything, much less move. She was just short of calling the police.
Su Wan took a deep breath and looked around with her eyes wide open. She then looked at the unfamiliar granny who was pulling her. She thought for a while and suddenly realized something. “Oh, oh, thank you. I’ll leave now.”
“Okay, okay, let’s go. Aiya, it’s not safe for a girl to dress like this. Girl, we can’t control others. We have to care for ourselves. It’s our own life.” The old lady shook her head and sighed before leaving.
The old granny had just read a report two days ago. It was about a teenage girl walking on the road. A pervert had evil intentions and the girl had lost her life.
After looking at it, she sighed for a whole day, sighing that there were too many injustices in this world, and that beauty could actually become the fuel for death.
Su Wan watched as the old granny left. She took out her phone and prepared to take a taxi. She looked at the traffic flow. It wasn’t much. The probability of waiting for a taxi was probably lower than calling for a private hire online.
After settling down, she stood there and waited.
She replied to Xia Jing’s message, telling her not to worry and that she had gone home to rest.
She did not reply to a message from Jing Chen.
It only had three words. Where are you?
She was too lazy to reply.
