My Ex-husband Regrets After Signing The Divorce

Chapter 68 - Memories

Chapter 68: Memories

“So you still remember, right?” Bai Ran’s tears fell.

When she was young, she and Chen Chen had a very good time.

Because they were family friends, Bai Ran was a little young, so she followed Chen Chen around all day and called him “Brother Chen.” Chen Chen was also happy to bring this follower along.

However, an accident happened one day after school.

The sunset on that day was especially beautiful. Chen Chen held Bai Ran’s hand and stood at the entrance of the kindergarten, waiting for the adult to pick them up.

Soon, a car stopped in front of them. It was Chen Chen’s father’s assistant, Feng Feng.

“Chen Chen, your father is still busy today, so he instructed me to pick you up,” Assistant Feng said to the two of them as she got out of the car.

“What about Uncle Wang?” Chen Chen was a little curious. Normally, as long as his father was free, he would pick him up personally. If he was not free, the chauffeur, Uncle Wang, would pick him up. Why was there a different person today?

“Uncle Wang took a leave.” Assistant Feng smiled. “Don’t you trust me, Chen Chen? Hurry up and get into the car. I brought you some snacks.”

Chen Chen brought Bai Ran to the backseat.

The two of them chatted and laughed along the way as they ate snacks. They did not notice that the car was already slowly driving to the uninhabited area.

When the sky turned completely dark, Chen Chen looked at the blurry but unfamiliar buildings around him and suddenly realized that something was wrong. He asked in a tender voice, “Uncle Feng, where is this? Why haven’t we reached home yet?”

“The original road was temporarily renovated today, so I’ll take you guys down the other road,” Assistant Feng replied briskly. The next second, he turned into a small road and stopped in front of an abandoned warehouse.

“Uncle Feng, you’re lying to me!” Chen Chen shouted as he held Bai Ran’s hand. He wanted to open the car door, but he realized that it was already locked.

Bai Ran also understood what was going on. She leaned against Chen Chen tightly and was a little afraid.

“Heh heh, it’s your father’s fault for wanting to fire me. He even wants to send me to jail! Didn’t I just take some company money from work?! Anyway, your father has so much money, and he can’t spend it all. Why should he treat me like this for such a small matter?! I’ll make him spit out more money today!” Assistant Feng got out of the car and opened the car door, pulling the two of them out.

The two children resisted desperately, but they could not resist Assistant Feng’s grip and were brought into the warehouse.

As soon as they entered the warehouse, Assistant Feng handcuffed Chen Chen to the iron railing beside him with a specially-made small number. As for Bai Ran, he did not care. What could a young girl do? Even if she escaped, there was no one around for miles. She could not cry for help.

Then, Assistant Feng began to call Chen Chen’s father to ask for the ransom.

Bai Ran hit Assistant Feng’s leg in tears and shouted, “Let go of Brother Chen quickly!”

Assistant Feng kicked Bai Ran aside impatiently and walked out.

When Chen Chen saw this, he shouted in heartache, “Ran Ran, you’re useless like this. Come to me.”

Bai Ran could only get up and walk to Chen Chen. She held his other hand tightly and said, “Don’t be afraid, Brother Chen. I’ll always be with you.”

After a while, two people Chen Chen did not know came in. However, Assistant Feng did not appear.

The two of them came in and sat not far away. They played cards and complained, “Isn’t it just a child? You could have just kidnapped him from school. You even insisted on carefully creating a fake car accident to stop the child’s father and coax him to come over. Now, you even brought two children with you! You even made the two of us watch over them together. Is there a need? How can the two of them escape?”

“Don’t complain. Anyway, after the matter is done, the money the three of us get will be enough for us to be carefree! It’s a profitable business!” another person replied.

The two of them played cards. After an unknown period of time, the two of them fell asleep.

Chen Chen and Bai Ran had already sat on the ground. Their eyes were filled with fear as they silently waited to be rescued.

“Grumble…” Chen Chen’s stomach growled.
