Chapter 495: Never Had The Habit of Celebrating Birthdays
Less than ten minutes later, Li Shengxiao pulled open the car door and came back.
He also had an extra bag in his hand.
He closed the car door and took out a pair of soft, white shoes from the bag, and said to Rong Yan, “Give me your foot.”
Rong Yan looked at the white shoes he bought for her and retracted her feet, saying, “I’ll put them on myself.”
Li Shengxiao’s deep eagle eyes narrowed; he didn’t want to waste words with her and directly grabbed Rong Yan’s ankle, slipping the small white shoes on her feet, as white as jade.
The feet that had been trapped in high heels all day suddenly felt incredibly comfortable in the soft soles.
Li Shengxiao looked down, put the other white shoe on her foot, and then let go of her. His thin lips touched each other as he commanded in a domineering and assertive tone, “Don’t wear high heels again next time; there’s no need!”
“When we get back, I’ll have Gu Ming clear out all the high heels from Dihor Garden and replace them with white shoes!”
Rong Yan put her feet down in the small white shoes, her face full of helplessness as she said, “Li Shengxiao, there’s no need to replace them all with white shoes. It’s just that I wore high heels for too long today and felt a bit uncomfortable; it’s not as serious as you’re thinking.”
She only wore high heels for too long today, and her ankles were a bit sore. How did it turn out that in his eyes, she seemed as fragile as a glass doll?
However, she knew Li Shengxiao was concerned about her. Looking at him with shining eyes, she grasped his arm, bit her lip, and said softly, “At least leave me two pairs; don’t replace them all. It would be too much trouble to have to buy them on short notice if there’s an event I need to attend.”
The main reason was that she was broke!
She had been so strapped for cash lately that she was nearly at her wits’ end; she absolutely had no money to buy shoes.
If Li Shengxiao were to replace all her high heels with small white shoes, she figured she would be doomed.
The girl’s fair and delicate face was soft and tender, like a cherry, tempting and juicy. Li Shengxiao’s eagle-like eyes tightened further, and a flare of heat surged in his lower belly. He swallowed hard, his throat bobbing with restraint, and his thin lips pressed together as a warning glare swept over Rong Yan. His voice was husky as he warned, “Yanyan, are you sure you want to continue leaning on my arm and talking to me?”
Rong Yan, realizing belatedly that she was nearly sprawled on him, immediately let go and retreated, “I… I didn’t mean to.”
Li Shengxiao took a deep breath of the cold air, suppressing the flame rising within him, before pinching the bridge of his nose and looking at her with furrowed brows, “I will have Gu Ming leave you two pairs, but don’t wear this kind of shoes again in the future.”
“Mm.” Rong Yan’s lips curled up instantly, her eyes sparkling with the knowledge that he would compromise, almost causing Li Shengxiao’s newly relaxed stomach to tighten again.
Was she so certain that he would indulge her and agree to her request?
His eagle eyes were bottomless; though he didn’t want to admit it, he had to acknowledge that he did indeed want to spoil this little woman!
The driver in front played the part of an invisible man perfectly.
Only when the car stopped at the place Rong Yan mentioned earlier did the driver quietly park and gently remind the couple in the back, “Miss Rong, Mr. Li, we’ve arrived.”
Li Shengxiao glanced outside, his brow furrowing. He thought the car would head straight back to the hotel, but the surroundings clearly indicated they weren’t near the hotel.
“Where is this?” He was asking the driver.
Rong Yan, smiling merrily, looked at him and cut in before the driver could answer, “The seaside. Isn’t it your birthday today? It seemed like you had forgotten, so I had the driver bring us here.”
He had indeed almost forgotten that today was his birthday, as he had never been accustomed to celebrating it in the past.
Whether it was his birthday or not didn’t matter to him, it was just another ordinary day!
