Chapter 436: The Evidence Was Slapped in the Face
“You!” Kim Yien was choked and couldn’t utter a word, but with her eyes flushed red, she growled through clenched teeth before being dragged out, “It was you who asked me to do it, don’t pretend to be dumb. Jiang Xinyue, it was you, it was you!”
Unfortunately, she was dragged away too quickly, and in the blink of an eye, she was gone.
The police came like a gust of wind and vanished just as quickly, even helping to close the door of the meeting room on their way out.
The vast meeting room fell deathly silent.
Not a single person dared to speak at this time.
Levin was even more restless, frequently glancing toward his girlfriend.
“Mr. Li,” Gu Ming said in a low voice as he helped the still weak man to the head of the table, “Please sit.”
Li Shengxiao grunted affirmatively, bypassing everyone to take the seat at the head of the table.
Only after he sat down did the others dare to slowly take their seats as well.
Jiang Xinyue secretly let out a sigh of relief, with much of the panic fading from the depths of her eyes.
Does this mean the storm has passed?
She wasn’t really scared of Kim Yien lashing out at her, as Kim Yien had no evidence, and she had made sure to cover her tracks.
There was absolutely no way the incident with the thrown egg on stage could be traced back to her!
But for some reason, her eyelids kept twitching, and she just couldn’t shake the feeling of unease.
After Li Shengxiao took his seat, he didn’t rush to speak but instead absentmindedly tapped on the conference table with his left hand, the tapping sound like a drumbeat on everyone’s heart, keeping them tense.
His sharp gaze swept over the breath-holding crowd in the meeting room and suddenly landed on Jiang Xinyue, saying with an unclear meaning, “Won’t you explain?”
Jiang Xinyue thought the matter had been settled and was startled by his sudden question. She quickly defended herself, “Mr. Li, I don’t know why she would say that, perhaps it’s because of some conflicts over resources that she’s dissatisfied with me.”
Seeing his girlfriend under scrutiny, Levin stood up and braced himself to speak, “Mr. Li, Kim Yien does indeed often have issues with other female stars in the company. I believe Jiang Xinyue is not involved in this incident.”
“You know what I’m talking about?” Li Shengxiao gave him a glance that sent a chill down his spine.
Levin steeled himself and insisted, “I’ve seen the news online, but Mr. Li, I believe Jiang Xinyue has nothing to do with this incident.”
“Nothing to do with it,” Li Shengxiao echoed the words, his gaze cold as the air of Siberia, as he tossed several photos in front of him, “Then explain to me, why was her nanny car parked on the side road outside the venue yesterday? Who was she waiting for?”
Levin hadn’t expected him to throw out photos, some of which flew over the table and landed on the floor. He picked them up with a grave face and looked through each one carefully.
The more he looked, the worse his expression became. After going through all the photos, he looked defeated and placed them back on the table, speechless.
He had guessed that this matter might really be related to her by reading Jiang Xinyue’s reaction, but as her boyfriend, he had still instinctively stood up for her.
Now the evidence was laid out in front of him and even if he wanted to clear her name, he couldn’t find the words to defend her.
“I…”
Jiang Xinyue’s face turned ashen. The evidence she thought would never be discovered had just slapped her in the face, turning her earlier defense into a joke!
