Chapter 501 - Blood Demon Twins

Chapter 501: Blood Demon Twins

The first deformed person kept pouring out blood in a ghastly display. The viscous dark red fluid splashed onto the ground, consolidated into one massive ball before spreading out around him.

The blood was able to put out Lin Jin’s Dragonfire with ease.

Following the integration of the green blaze back at Maple City, Lin Jin’s Dragonfire was now a variant of exotic flames. In other words, it should have been stronger than before, but despite this, his opponent was still able to put it out using his blood.

Lin Jin figured that there must be some secret behind his blood.

From the start of the battle, Lin Jin had managed to deflect several lethal attacks. Although many of them were close shaves, he was still able to pull through in one piece.

The opponent couldn’t rely on sneak attacks to gain an upper hand now.

“Are you folks from the Demonic Appraisal Association?” Lin Jin asked in a straightforward fashion. After thinking it through, he figured only the Demonic Appraisal Association despised him enough to put in so much effort to kill him.

Truth be told, had their target been another Rank 4 appraiser, they would have already succeeded. First, they used some kind of barrier to transport him from Heavenly Spiral Academy to the deserted wilderness. They tried to kill Lin Jin in the barrier, but when that failed, they launched a sneak attack on him from the outside, then fired an arrow at his back.

It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to claim that Lin Jin would have already died if he hadn’t opened the Visitation Hall’s door out of desperation.

When faced with Lin Jin’s question, the deformed man answered chillingly through gritted teeth. “If Black Envoy wants you dead, you will die.”

Having said that, the little man leaning on the deformed man’s back suddenly looked up, revealing a freakish smile on his creepy face.

The next instant, the blood flow around the deformed man’s feet increased and spread out quickly.

Lin Jin had already made contact with this strange blood earlier. What baffled him was that it belonged to a unique rare beast.

A blood ghost, Rank 5.

The museum now had detailed information on this Rank 5 blood ghost. Calling this blood ghost strong would be an understatement. Just like Gu Mengzhong’s ink monster, this rare beast had no specific form.

Its form was blood.

Otherwise, it wouldn’t have been given this name. The blood ghost’s worst quirk was the ability to devour everything. It also had the same unique traits as the ink monster.

It could change its form at will. From a flowing liquid, it could morph into something as hard as metal in the next moment.

It was indeed powerful. But the stronger the rare beast, the more obvious its shortcomings were. Others may not know how to deal with such creatures, but Lin Jin was a Rank 4 beast appraiser with the Museum of Deadly Beasts to support him. It took only a fraction of a second to learn its weaknesses.

Strong as a Rank 5 blood ghost was, the difficulty to control one was its ultimate weakness. An average person couldn’t possibly succeed in forming a blood contract with it unless they used a unique binding method.

A perfect blood contract.

Other methods had higher failure rates but this deformed person managed to pull off the feat. However, he did not do this alone.

This deformed person had a brother connected to him by the flesh – that tiny man on his back.

In other words, both of them had formed a blood contract with this Rank 5 blood ghost.

This created a delicate balance, which itself was a massive weakness. Once the equilibrium was tipped, without having to take any action, the Rank 5 blood ghost would simply devour its owner.

Of course, only a handful of people were able to notice this.

“Xiao Huo, back!” barked Lin Jin when he saw how the wolf was about to pounce forward.

There was no need to overexert oneself in this battle.

It wasn’t time yet. If Lin Jin didn’t know their background and weakness, it would have made sense for him to go all out in this battle. Moreover, this Rank 5 blood ghost specialized in restraining beasts like Xiao Huo. Although both were Rank 5, Xiao Huo would be fighting a losing battle if they were to actually duke it out.

They couldn’t help it either. This world had tons of rare creatures and certain special traits were near impossible to fight against. After all, Xiao Huo’s flames weren’t the strongest. However, the tables would turn if Goldy were here. His Rank 4 Golden Crow flames were so strong that it could probably even counter this blood ghost’s all-devouring blood.

Still, Xiao Huo had his merits. His claws and fangs when used in combination with his exotic fire, created an extremely potent series of attacks that were difficult to fend against.

The blood around them increased.

Perhaps when the volume of blood reached a certain level, it just had to come crashing over like a tidal wave to deal damage. Or, it could turn into blades and spikes, sharp enough to impale Lin Jin and his pet beast.

Lin Jin shook his finger gently and the Thunderfire Needle hidden nearby was ready to move.

That was Lin Jin’s ultimate weapon.

In terms of lethality and taking someone by surprise, the Thunderfire Needle was definitely the strongest magic tool in Lin Jin’s arsenal at the moment. After all, he personally crafted this weapon with flames and divine lightning. It was practically indestructible.

Lin Jin was waiting for an opportunity.

He was waiting for his opponents to initiate an attack. Only then would the blood flow stop, and that would be the deformed man’s weakest moment.

Lin Jin already took a wild guess on the enemy’s origins.

They were definitely members of the Demonic Appraisal Association since they mentioned being sent here by Black Envoy. Black Envoy was a highly ranked officer in the Demonic Appraisal Association, a fact Lin Jin overheard from Chu Gou.

Studying the deformed man’s appearance, Lin Jin was reminded of something Black Crow previously mentioned – the Blood Demon Twins, ranked number two and three on the villainous experts’ ranking.

Back then, Black Crow explained that the so-called twin demons were actually two deformed people conjoined together. They were siblings with incredible capabilities so it seemed like this pair was the one.

Blood continued splashing around, and all of a sudden, the tiny man on the deformed person’s back extended his small crooked hands to invoke a seal.

“Blood Sword!”

Almost at once, the blood on the ground consolidated into thousands of blades. The larger deformed man made the same seal, shouting, “Like metal, like steel!”

The thousands of swords immediately hardened like steel.

How brilliant.

Despite being the enemy, Lin Jin was thoroughly impressed by their skill. Not only did these deformed brothers share their blood contract powers, but they could also enhance it with two different spells.

An average person couldn’t possibly compare to them.

At practically the same time, Lin Jin invoked a spell. The Thunderfire Needle shot out at high speed. In terms of speed, nothing could compare to the Thunderfire Needle for now.

Almost immediately, the Thunderfire Needle pierced into the larger deformed man’s forehead. The sheer amount of energy carried by the projectile caused Lin Jin’s enemy to bend over backward, breaking his spinal cord in the process.

What was even more baffling was the sight of the Thunderfire Needle being stuck halfway through piercing the deformed man’s skull. It went without saying that Lin Jin’s enemy was still very much alive.

“Trying to kill me? You’ll have to do better than that.” He re-positioned his head with the Thunderfire Needle still stuck on his forehead, all the while grinning freakishly. Looks like their nickname, Blood Demon Twins suited them well. These two weren’t too far from what you would imagine how a demon would look like.

Our blood has already become one with the blood ghost. Since it can harden like stell, we obviously can too. Hmph, don’t think you’ll be able to pierce us with mere needles,” the sibling on his back said sarcastically, all while grinning eerily at Lin Jin.

Meanwhile, Lin Jin was hiding behind Xiao Huo, dodging the many blood swords. Since Xiao Huo had a Dharma body, such attacks dealt only limited damage to him.

Lin Jin wasn’t fazed by their mockery but instead silently mouthed the word ‘burst’.

Sparks crackled on the Thunderfire Needle and flames began to burn.

Before the larger deformed man realized it, his head exploded into tiny little chunks. Flesh and blood splattered everywhere. With this, Lin Jin had killed taken down one of the deformed siblings.
