Chapter 91: Ch.90 Volcano
Chapter 91: Ch.90 Volcano
Su Ming glanced at him. He didn't want to get involved in the affairs of the magical world. If Constantine wanted to pocket some benefits, so be it, as long as he didn't dare to gamble with Earth's survival.
"Stop playing dead. I made sure that cut was only 0.5 cm deep, just under the skin. I've given you what you need. If you can't provide what I need, Barry will wipe away this magic circle immediately."
Constantine sighed, looking helpless: "Alright, maybe Doomsday is tough for you to handle, but like Superman, he has no resistance to magic, and his brain is not as good as Superman's. But why don't you just get some Kryptonite?"
"It's not Doomsday, it's the Ravager. He's the Batman from Earth -1 who injected himself with the Doomsday virus. While his mind is affected by madness, he's definitely not a mindless beast." Su Ming grabbed Constantine and dragged him back to the small side room they had been sitting in before. "Doomsday might be related to Kryptonians, but he's completely immune to Kryptonite. If I listened to you, we'd be dead for sure!"
Constantine was thrown onto a chair, adjusting his brown trench coat, biting down hard on his cigarette.
"So, it's tough to kill him, but there's a way to stall him. Wait a moment, I'll write you a scroll. Just burn it with a lighter when the time comes."
Su Ming frowned. Constantine's credibility was truly doubtful. But the Ravager was part of the final confrontation plan. By then, with the Justice League members around, if they were lucky, Batman and Superman could even bring back the X-Metal. With that, they could pit Aquaman against the Ravager.
"Fine. If that scroll doesn't work and drags us down, then the world's destruction will be all your fault."
Constantine, who had been extending his hand to pass over the scroll, retracted it and hastily added a few more strokes to the already written scroll: "Uh, don't worry. I wouldn't dare mess around with something this important. It's totally fine."
"Alright, then let's talk about how to deal with the Cyborg version of Batman. He comes from Earth -44 in the Dark Multiverse." Su Ming took the scroll Constantine handed him and carefully put it away.
"That's... tricky. We've observed those guys through magic. He's called the Murder Machine, and it's hard to say if he's even human." Constantine scratched his head, dandruff falling like snowflakes.
"He's controlled by the Alfred Protocol, modified with nano-metal. Technically speaking, he's a robot." Su Ming shared what he knew.
"Then there's nothing we can do. You know we're not into high-tech stuff. Maybe you should ask Luthor?"
Su Ming shook his head, dismissing Constantine's suggestion. If they were facing a typical robot rebellion, they could look for the smartest scientist in this world. But Luthor, that bald-headed genius, was craftier than a monkey and not even on Earth. After Darkseid turned into a baby, Luthor had become the ruler of Apokolips and was busy raising an army and farming with alien girls.
Su Ming was just a super-soldier. To go to Apokolips, he'd need to gather Mother Boxes or find Cyborg to open the Boom Tube. As for the Mother Boxes, one was inside Cyborg, another was on Apokolips, and the last one was somewhere on Earth, its location unknown. And Cyborg was currently under Barbatos' control.
"His weakness is electricity. Extremely high-voltage currents can disable him. Do you have a way to do that?" Su Ming shook his head to clear his thoughts.
"Uh, no magic item can provide that much electricity for long. I'm guessing your speedster friend can't do it either, or you wouldn't be asking me. But maybe you could look for an artifact that can. I hate to admit it, but sometimes gods are a bit more powerful than us."
Constantine rubbed his beard, pulling out a dried, unidentifiable piece of debris, which he flicked away casually like it was a booger.
Su Ming thought for a moment. He needed to prepare some other things anyway. It seemed Constantine really couldn't help. Pressing him further would only result in more deception.
Getting a scroll in exchange for the Bat Gold was already a good deal. Su Ming's bottom line was just for Constantine to provide information. For the sake of the world's survival, the Bat Gold had to be given to them.
"Alright, use your House of Mystery's doors to send us to Mount Etna. I'm going to see Hephaestus, the God of Fire." Su Ming stood up, ignoring the tea brought by the butler, and headed for the door.
Constantine was stunned for a moment, realizing Su Ming had more to say privately. He followed.
Back at the place where they had arrived, Su Ming lowered his voice: "Watch out for traitors among the magicians. Someone might side with Barbatos."
Constantine gave Su Ming a sly grin, winking: "What traitors? They just have a different pursuit of magic. Don't worry, I'm prepared."
He pulled a key out of his trench coat pocket and inserted it into what seemed like an invisible door in the air. The tip of the key gradually disappeared.
This was a skill unique to the House of Mystery. As its master, Constantine could set a location in his mind and connect a door to it, allowing him to appear anywhere quickly.
Su Ming patted Barry, signaling it was time to go. After a polite goodbye to Constantine, Barry and Su Ming stepped through the door.
In the blink of an eye, they found themselves in a dark place filled with a pungent odor and waves of stifling heat.
If they were right, they were now inside the volcano. Hephaestus, the God of Fire, was known for his ugly appearance and love for forging. He had hollowed out this mountain, creating a divine forge powered by the lava to craft his equipment.
In the DC universe, if you wanted to find a divine artifact, Su Ming's first thought was Hephaestus' forge.
Weapons forged from divine metals were, of course, of excellent quality. But what Su Ming needed now was a special item that could release high-voltage electricity for extended periods.
Barry pulled off his hood and wiped the sweat off his face. The temperature here was unbearable for ordinary people: "It's way too hot here. By the way, what did you mean when you spoke to Constantine before we left?"
Su Ming looked back. The glowing door they had come through was now a thin line, gradually turning into an ordinary door: "There are many magicians who use dark powers. The nature of their abilities makes them susceptible to Barbatos' influence and brainwashing, so I reminded Constantine to be careful."
"Oh, but it should be okay, right? After all, there are so many magicians, they can't all be bad." Barry thought for a moment and spoke in a relaxed tone.
"Heh, his butler, Abaddon the demon, is actually in on it with him. They just pretend to be at odds to mislead others." Su Ming began walking down the corridor. The extreme heat was making him uncomfortable as well. "Generally speaking, humanoid demons are quite powerful. They have innate racial abilities and high resistance to magic, making them the nemesis of magicians."
"So when someone tries something, the butler, whom they thought was against Constantine, will step in to help him?"
Barry seemed to understand now, shifting uncomfortably as he processed the information. He had gone from the filthy House of Mystery to this fiery pit, and all he wanted now was to take a bath.
Su Ming took off his helmet, pulled out a cigarette, and lit it by touching it to the stone wall. The cigarette slowly ignited.
"Who knows? Maybe he's made some impossible promise to the demon again. But we don't need to worry about him. That scumbag's life is harder to take than you think."
